Ouray is a charming small town in the San Juan Mountains in southwest Colorado. Originally a mining town, it has a historic main street surrounded by mountains. The Beamount Hotel, on the right side of the photo, was built in 1886 and is still in operation today. In 2013, it was named the #1 Hotel in the West by Conde' Nast Traveler Magazine. This view of Ouray park is taken from the perimeter trail overlooking the city in the early morning. If you take the trail, get a map from the visitors center or online first as it is difficult to find in some spots, but well worth the views. The Lower Cascade Falls are simple and cooling with their mist, located along the Perimeter Trail that encircles Ouray. I almost walked right by this blooming cactus. Thank goodness my wife saw it and waited while I took some pics. #patterns

Million Dollar Mornings on Million Dollar Highway ☺️ Looking up at the high bridge over Box Canyon, built in 1900 by the Bollen Bridge Company to support water pipes that criss-crossed the canyon where miners searched fruitlessly for gold. It is now a walking bridge that takes you into a tunnel in the side of the canyon wall - all part of an excellent hike along the Ouray perimeter trail. Easy hike to amazing views! The descent is via scaffolding from the rim. #waterfalls Jeeping on the trails around Ouray.

This is an artistic memorial to Sue and Karen, who perished while ice climbing in Alaska, dedicated by their family and friends. It is situated at the base of the Ouray Ice Park, a premier climbing locale situated in dynamic Box Canyon and along the Ouray Perimeter Trail which is an excellent 5-hour round trip hike. We took a day trip to the hot springs in Ouray while camping in Silverton. It was so nice and relaxing and has pools of different temperatures so you can find the one that suits you and the weather. They had really nice bathrooms and showers which was convenient since the campground didn't have showers!

Ropes to climb, mini cave to go in and just a fun area! Good hamburgers and French fries. From downtown Ouray, it is a very short hike up to this waterfall, where you can find more trails, including one that leads to a view of the whole town. If you visit Ouray, CO, I would recommend grabbing a bite to eat on the rooftop patio of this restaurant. It offers stunning views of the sheer rock faces surrounding Ouray. Downtown Ouray Such a great place to start your trails with an easy step up to a beautiful fall. Very short and leads to a second trail around the town. The postcard perfect town of Ouray!
