Lovely hotel, terrible bed and overpriced food

Posted Jan 2, 2018
Pros: The decor.
Cons: The comfort of the beds and the quality of the bedding needs significant improvement.
The hotel itself is lovely and our room (8) appeared beautiful, but the double bed was two single beds pushed together with one mattress that sloped downhill to the edge of the bed. The duvet was two single duvets poppered together and these didn't fit properly in the ripped duvet cover. The pillows were like a couple of slabs of cheap foam stuffed into some oversized pillowcases and as a result, we had a shocking nights sleep. This is not the quality of bed that you would expect from a hotel in this price bracket and needs to be significantly improved. The food in the restaurant was very pricey for the quality of food that was served but it was Boxing Day so this may not be the norm.

one night birthday treat

Location: River trip from Folly Bridge which was very enjoyable.
Excellent hotel, room and meal in dining room and breakfast next morning. Only small criticism was slightly excessive use of vinegar in doing poached eggs.

Lovely, setting, location great

Posted Oct 15, 2017
Pros: Everything
Cons: We were in ground floor room, designed for the disabled ( we are not disabled) therefore the sink in bathroom was low, however understandable.
Location: Son at Oxford university ideal for visit/drop off! Combinded visit to Blenhiem Palace. Travel,Yorkshire to Portsmouth regularly perfect overnight stay
Setting lovely by the river. Room very good, staff courteous and obliging. Used bar for evening meal excellent value and presentation. Breakfast choice wonderful, room perfect and welcomed sofas to relax after whilst reading newspaper. Spa and gym facilities perfect. Will definitely be returning.

Pretty setting just outside Oxford

Perfect and friendly service, very close to Oxford set in a lovely setting. Rooms and bathrooms could use an update- looks a little characterless.

Hotel looks nice, but is dated and poor bar food

Posted Oct 4, 2017
A flashback to the 1980s and a Berni Inn - beautiful building, large rooms, awful food at the bar - deep fried battered bean burger, sad steak pie. Could be so much more. Great location by the Thames - 10-15 mins from Oxford
