Outdated. No whwre near what it was before. Room was old dated and filthy. Food option was very very very poor and the staff struggled to keep up with drinks. So upset with our experience. we were so looking forward to it and a special occasion ruined

Bodged Decor and in need of repair.
Always wanted to experience this hotel. Reviews are fantastic and it looks amazing! However... on closer inspection the decor is haphazardly applied and isn’t as practical as you might think. Although it’s a very ‘Jazzy’ boutique hotel some of the design choices cause issues. The room we stayed in was also I need of a repairs. If they didn’t charge previous guests for damage then that’s on them and still needs to be repaired. If they DID charge previous guests then why haven’t the repairs been carried out? It’s an experience but we wouldn’t return. Great to take photos and say you’ve stayed but not worth the money in our opinion.

The hotel facilities were lovely. The room was dull, unable to walk around due to low ceilings and no windows. The stairs inside the actually room were dangerous and to steep. Was never asked if my mobility or if I was fit and well when booking this room.....very poor and a ridiculous room for anyone. Not even able to carry belongings up safely!! If I wasn’t in a wedding party I would have wanted to be moved cause unacceptable.

Stunning venue. Quirky rooms. A little TLC wouldn’t go amiss in the classic bedroom though. Fantastic cocktails. Delicious food. Very polite staff. Will return. Tip - if you’re staying in room 306 the fan outside the room does turn off at the end of the dinner service. Don’t be afraid to ask!

Crazy Bear is a hotel that uniquely different. Bohemian style rooms some with cooper baths next to the bed. Great for couples 😉

This place gives a lot of expectation but does not deliver. The room was poorly laid out and in definite need of refurbishment with 2x iron marks on the carpet, shower curtain smelt mouldy and the staircase needed repainting. I understand the idea of opulence but the lighting is too low and felt depressing after a while. The service and food were also not that great. Not a place I would ever return to and left feeling very disappointed.

Terrible experience, it was our 10 year anniversary so I specifically booked the suite with the free standing bath as shown in the pic and suite as my partner has always wanted to go to make it special. Rather than that we ended up having to follow a staff member 5 minutes down the road to another place in the middle of nowhere on our own, and of course no bath as I payed for. I asked the lady who showed me the room why we have no bath and she said that no rooms in here have a bath but you have a lovely shower 🙄. If I wanted a shower I would have asked for one. It completely ruined our experience as I didn’t book and “garden house suite” which is different from a “suite” on hotels.com. The whole point of going to the crazy bear is to be within the hotel and experience it. We experienced staying in a beautiful shed with nice rooms, I could have done that at home, especially when you pay that silly amount of money you expect to get what you pay for. Once we were leaving the next day I told the staff that I was not happy. At first they said I didn’t have that room because there was a wedding, then it was hotels.com fault for false advertising, who knows...but either way I will be getting this resolved immediately. Anyone who wants to stay here make sure you ring them first and find out what you’re getting, hopefully it won’t be 400 pounds worth of disappointment like mine was.

Certainly a different experience
Lovely suite. Was part of a house that was up the road from the main pub building but they had a driver on hand to transport you when needed. Food was great too, although the service in the restaurant left a little to be desired based on the price. Whilst I don't think (!) we're a demanding couple, having to ask for everything (like water, additional drinks etc) when paying those prices isn't great. That said wouldn't put me off but just could be better, maybe it is better in the Thai restaurant. Overall a different experience and we had a good time.

Crazy Bear is a surreal hotel aimed at the delivery of a camp experience. Even the receptionist was unsure which metal fabricated door would lead into our bathroom.

Brilliantly wacky and wonderful. From the red bus and champagne welcome to the roof filling bath, I thoroughly enjoyed my stay. The food was absolutely delicious too at the English restaurant.

Dated and needs a refresh!
Lovely welcome in the old boss by the amazing receptionist. Taken for a guided tour before being shown to our room, which turned out to be out own cottage. That's where the disappointment began - no roll top bath, dated decor which was just a lot of velour fabric stuck to all the walls, 80's furniture, no fridge, no tea/coffee making facilities, no iron. Dinner was beautiful but service was bumpy - I had a plastic bag in my food, another guest waited 30 mins for wine and then their food came after 3 tables who ordered after them. We found it funny and chatted between ourselves but for a pricey meal in a small restaurant people management should have been all over this. Bed was very comfy so had a good sleep!

Service prior to and during the stay was great and the team worked hard to get a room available early for us to get into as we were going to a wedding in the village. I just felt disappointed with the room given the Bears reputation. Stayed in #14 in the main hotel. It was tiny! The hotel had kindly put a mobile AC unit in there which was appreciated but was so noisy, the pipe from it had to dangle out of the window and was kicking heat right onto one side of the bed. You couldnt walk around it to get in and out of bed so it wasn't a peaceful sleep. The room decor I appreciate is trying to be unique but I just felt it looked dated. Only 2 downlights in the main room even turned up bright weren't enough to see to get ready. I had no chance doing make up in the black bathroom. The mirrors in the room and bathroom you can see have been broken and 'fixed' poorly. Worst for me was the steps. Lighting in the stairwell, whilst atmospheric, is poor to say the least to deliniate between carpeted floor and steps. I fell down a step and spilt the complimentary champers all down my wedding outfit and fell up a step into the room. Nightmare. Breakfast was ok. Nice selection but would like to have seen some method of keeping the flies off the food laid out. I lost my appetite shortly after sitting down looking at buzzy friends tucking into their brekkie :(. Overall, intreaguing space. Service polite. Wouldn't stay again for the money.

Crazy and funky bear
The décor and ambience of this hotel is of course the feature of this hotel and did not disappoint, We stayed in a suite with brass bath at the foot of the bed and amazing décor generally. Food was good and the service especially at breakfast was excellent. Lots of quaint villages in the surrounding area.

Perfect for a couples retreat
The Crazy Bear is amazing, really different and very cool, perfect for a romantic retreat. Room was weird but in a really cool way and the staff were all both really helpful and really friendly. its a place of pure escape!

I'm so sorry to say that this is as close to a 5 star hotel as the travel lodges are. It's nice.............and that is it. If the room that we had was a superior room.........then check your accommodation out fully before you accept them. We had the Thai food as our choice for the evening and the quality was very good indeed.........the restaurant and the seating arrangements are a huge let down to the whole evening. the floor is springy and as waiters walk past it was like sitting on a space hopper. I have been calling at different hotels now for over 30 years and this one has been my biggest disappointment. Would I recommend this place and would I go again............a resounding no to both. But you must call for your own disappointment.

I would not recommend Crazy Bear Stadhampton to anyone. We arrived for my partners birthday surprise to be taken on a walk down a lane away from the site of the hotel to our 'room'. When we were shown inside we were actually inside a 'cottage' looking building with no heating inside, black velvet walls everywhere, 2 rooms. Standard metal bed in main room. No freestanding bath. We returned to reception to advise we had booked a superior room. They informed us this is the superior cottage and no other rooms were available. The manager of reception also decided to lie and said she had called in advance to say we were going to be placed in the cottage. Unfortunately she left a voicemail which said the complete opposite which I was able to play to the general manager who came to deal with the complaint. After having to point out that no where on the booking is there any mention of disabled access (there's a flight of stairs) and that we booked a ROOM not a cottage with a freestanding bath promised etc and arrived to a shower over a bath with other peoples hair in and the taps falling off. There are no tea and coffee facilities and the legs were falling off the sofas downstairs. Also iron stains on the carpet. it took the receptipnist reducing me to tears for a resolution to be offered and I believe we would not have received an offer of a refund if we didnt fight our corner. I wouldnt recommend this hotel to anyone it is a complete sham and waste of money

Hotel with a difference
The rooms are quirky but really lovely. The staff were very friendly and welcoming. The only downside was the temperature in our room wasn't how I like it. I'm always cold and our thermostat didn't appear to work. We called the hotel staff who came straight away but didn't appear to fix it. Don't let this put you off as it may have just been me. I would definitely recommend this hotel if you want something out of the ordinary and different. Reception is in a bus.
