Overheated airless rooms - quaint but not too comfortable

Not as good as it thinks it is.Posted Sep 7, 2015
Cons: Wifi. High costs for tiny rooms. Maid noises.
Our room was fine, but absolutely tiny. We had about a metre from the edge of the bed to the wall on each side, which isn't enough for two people to share, especially once you've dropped your bags off. On top of this our room was situated near the maids room (room 22), and they crashed about early on the Sunday morning, playing their radio loud. The wifi was appallingly bad and barely allowed us to load a single webpage. Obviously this wasn't a big deal but when you're trying to make arrangements and look up reservations it makes it frustratingly painful. On the plus side, the staff were lovely and it was well-presented overall.

Nice hotel in charming old town.Posted Aug 28, 2015
Pros: Good location, good service.
Location: Just a few minutes from Blenheim Palace.
Excellent for overnight stop or short stay. Charming, comfortable old hotel. Most importantly, well away from main road and so no traffic noise.

Lovely hotel in beautiful locationPosted Aug 19, 2015
Pros: Staff. Comfortable. Location.
Cons: Bathroom a little worn - seal on shower window broken, water dripped all over floor, limescale on showerhead. Lights couldn't be off in one room.
Location: Beautiful location. Woodstock Arms- great pub and lovely staff.
We were upgraded upon arrival which was lovely. A very nice room ( but a bit worn in the bathroom) with a very comfortable bed. Staff were extremely helpful. The bar was a little steep, but a lovely midweek break for our family. Thank you.

England, når det er bedst. Hel igennem gæstfrie mennesker og området er historisk set meget interessant. Naturen er fantastisk.

Noisy Neighbours!Posted Aug 16, 2015 on Hotels
Nice Hotel and good food but awful sound insulation between the rooms. The people above me came in at 2am and stayed up chatting with friends until 3.30am. I could hear every word so clearly I almost joined in the conversation just to give me something to do whilst I was waiting for them to go to bed. I am sure the main building is lovely buy they need to do something about sound proofing for the rooms in the courtyard considering you are spending circa £200 for a night. Made work a little harder the next day.

What more could you wantPosted Aug 5, 2015
Pros: Location perfect, big car park option, clean, old but just right mixture of new to match Woodstock.
Cons: don't try.
Location: Blenheim Palace, lovely walks and veiws two Museums and must try shops, puds and eateries.
Arrived approx 10.30am and asked lovely young lady on reception if we could leave car while visiting Palace prior to 15.00 book in. Responce, "no problem we'll look after it, enjoy the palace and park its beautiful" and then gave us a map pointing out the other places of interest in Woodstock. How really nice, this was matched when we did book in and out and we also had one of the best nights sleep in our lovely room. Thanks to all who made our trip Julie & Alan

Great location - fun, British and relaxingPosted Aug 2, 2015
Pros: The Concierge is amazing - funny, polite, smart, knowledgeable and ready all the time with helpful hints.
Cons: Train the non-British Staff to be polite and not stuck in the ways of the rude Eastern countries
Location: Awesome - walking distance and driving distance to everything dear
I wasn't expecting a 5 star hotel, and nor did they deliver on one - but it was a fun, frumpy British hotel in the heart of this very walkable town. From here you can get most anywhere from Blenheim to the Cotswolds, to Stratford on Avon and beyond. The hotel has charm and is relaxing. If they would train their Eastern European Staff on how to be politely British and not stuck in the cold-war, then it would be all the more appealing. The British Staff is spot-on, and the Concierge is one of the best, even at my usual 5-star haunts....but the Eastern European's still don't understand the ways of British politeness which is why we we go on vacation there. So, yes it's a fun little spot, and the room and surroundings are great - and once they train their Eastern European staff, it will be the best place around to stay.
