Hidden gem in the Chiltern hills

Posted Apr 19, 2017
Pros: The quality of the accommodation and the food.
Cons: We had an invasion of ants and there was some noise from guests leaving the pub on Saturday night.
Location: Lovely walking country, take a short stroll to the fascinating Maharajah's Well, drive to the beautiful thameside town of Henley.
Spent 2 nights at The Cherry Tree after finding it through a Google search. Beautiful location in a quiet village, the rooms are not above the pub but in a separate building (converted stable?) so quieter than expected. The quality of the accommodation was far better than your average pub rooms and the food was fantastic. Breakfast was amazing (try the home cooked pancakes), and the atmosphere was friendly and relaxed. We would definitely book a return visit.

Pros: Everything
Cons: Nothing
Location: Beautiful villages and hamlets to visit. Marlow, Henley on Thames and Goring are not far away
Food is outstanding, staff are very helpful and the place is amazing. I cannot say anything negative about this place.

Great food, comfortable rooms, lovely staff

I stayed here for two days for business in the area, eating there both nights. Great food, lovely atmosphere in the pub, lovely quiet area and clean, comfortable rooms. Definitely recommend for business or couples sightseeing in the area.

Excellent welcome and dinner

The food was excellent. Staff were very friendly and the landlady went out of her way to be helpful when a medical emergency occurred at home.

The room was a bit tired although not long refurbed. Bathroom fan didn@t work, toilet holder broken, tiles around bath ledge didn't look good.. a shelf for tolet bags would be useful. headboard marked. WIFI access in rooms would be very useful. Heating problems, but were attended to in short time, not convinced that it will not happen again with next guest. Staff very friendly and helpful. nice cosy village pub atmosphere. Food very fancy, but not to everyones taste.

Quiet location and pleasant surroundings

Location: On the edge of the Chilterns and close to Henley. Plenty of local walks and opportunities for visiting attractive countryside in the vicinity.
Comfortable and quiet room . Restaurant has a friendly atmosphere and good food. Staff obliging. Plenty of parking.
