Atmosphere, quiet, oldworld with a modern bathroomPosted Nov 29, 2015
Pros: Quiet, decor embodied the hotel name creating atmosphere, friendly staff.
Location: Close to the University of San Francisco for a workshop, close to picturesque hills, neighborhood for walking, close to the sitcom house "Fullhouse".
I arrived late in the night by airport shuttle and the staff answered the door right away. I felt cared for.

Better than the average hotelPosted Nov 22, 2015
Pros: The rooms were clean, quiet and comfortable. We also liked the Victorian charm.
Cons: Our room was a little over furnished which made it a little difficult to get around the bed.
Location: There were 2 good restaurants within 2 blocks that provided good meals. The Marina was an easy drive away.
On a recent visit to San Francisco, we decided to try something different from the ordinary and usual hotel. The Monte Cristo provided all that we needed and more. The rates were good, the ambiance gave us a feeling of local history, the location was convenient, and the accommodations were clean, safe, and comfortable. The staff was courteous and friendly.

Charming B & B in San FranciscoPosted Nov 11, 2015
Pros: See above. There were several couples on their honeymoons staying there when we did.
Cons: Can't think of anything.
Location: See above. There are two nice restaurants nearby and a diner as well. Something for all tastes.
The charm of an old home with the amenities of a European B&B. Very comfortable and the breakfast was varied and fresh; for example, quiche, fresh raspberries, and home-made breads. The coffee was right on target. The prints of chasing the hounds in old England were perfect for the building. The location is central, literally, and getting around is realtively easy. Jack and Jerome were delightful hosts. And that is what the experience was like: visiting your favorite relatives in the city.

Classic San Francisco B&BPosted Aug 21, 2015 on Hotels
Classic 19th Century San Francisco...room was a little on the small side, but it was very comfortable and surprisingly quiet! The breakfast was very good and they even made us eggs to order! I would definitely recommend the Monte Cristo Inn

Would definitely stay there againPosted Aug 11, 2015 on Hotels
Great B&B in a relatively quiet safe neighborhood near the Presidio, good restaurants within walking distance. Free street parking was available during our Sat/Sun stay. Owners were very gracious. Very nicely renovated to reflect its Victorian origin.

Nice boutique hotel.Posted Aug 8, 2015
Pros: The breakfast was good, with fresh fruit, yogurt, cereal, pastries, and eggs prepared to order.
Location: It is in a nice neighborhood, not far from Golden Gate Park, the Presidio, and San Francisco Bay. I used a car, but there is bus service nearby.
The Monte Cristo Inn had all the amenities of a good hotel, with the friendly comfort of a bed and breakfast. I stayed in a "petite queen" room which had a full bed. The attached, updated bath had a Toto washlet toilet and a rainfall shower head.

A Comfortable InnPosted Aug 5, 2015
Pros: The comfortable bed and bedding and also the delicious breakfast and great coffee!
Cons: Some of the wallpaper is beginning to peel.....I'd like to see that patched up so it doesn't detract from their charming décor.
Location: It's a pretty good location, though I was kept busy attending 2 functions and didn't get a chance to scout the neighborhood.
I enjoyed my brief stay. The staff were very accommodating. They really made me feel at home. I would gladly stay at the Monte Cristo again.

Super stay!Posted Aug 3, 2015
Pros: Location, quiet, great breakfast, ease of check in/out.
Cons: I would like a firmer mattress.
Location: Great little antique stores not too far away,
I keep returning to the Monte Cristo because it is such a perfect B&B. No muss, no fuss. Everything you need is provided crisply and easily. My only minor quibble is I like a hard mattress and the MC's are a bit soft for my taste. But since I keep staying there it is obvious that this is not a big issue. Breakfasts are outstanding with loads of fresh fruit and granola, eggs to order, and incredible coffee,
