Service nice enough but there were mice running around the corridors into rooms at night.

The room was so small it was uncomfortable

Posted Aug 7, 2017
Pros: not a lot
Cons: The size of the room
Room and bathroom were really tiny. Bed was by the wall on one side. Bathroom so tiny had a job to dry oneself after a shower

Rated the Indigo Hotel where we were relocated to.

Posted Aug 4, 2017
Pros: Didn't have to wait for the lifts. Good mini bar- free water and soft drinks. Free phone calls to anywhere in the world
Location: Close to fast food outlets, underground and train- Lots to do nearby
Never actually got to stay at the Mercure Paddington. On arrival were told they had no room available and would we be prepared to move to a sister hotel( the Indigo) down the road. This boutique (ie small) hotel was fine but the rooms did not appear as big as the Mercure. During our stay at the Indigo there were at 2 other couples who had the same experience and now we are wondering if the big named hotel takes the bookings and then fills rooms in the less known hotel on the pretext of late check outs making rooms unavailable at the Mercure.

close to Paddington station

Posted Jul 17, 2017
Pros: very close to Paddington station - convenient for travel to Heathrow airport
Like with most hotels in London, the Mercure Paddington has rather small rooms and is not cheap. Staff was friendly and welcoming.

Close to Paddington Station

Posted Jul 16, 2017
Stayed in an Executive King room. The room was very large for London standards. Lots of room and a big bathroom as well. The air conditioning seemed barely functional, and it was very hot for sleeping. We had breakfast included and it was held in the adjacent Garfunkels. The staff at the restaurant was barely functional, service was very slow, and every order was wrong. The waitresses were clearly overworked and they needed more staff. When asked by the hostess how everything was, she just shrugged when we told her the orders were messed up. One weird thing is that they had a stack of cards on the front desk advertising half price drinks during happy hour at the lobby bar, but when we asked the front desk clerk she had no idea what we were talking about. When we showed her the cards on her desk, she said that it was only applicable at their sister hotel up the road (Hotel Indigo). So we ventured to that hotel and no on there had any idea what we were talking about. Not sure why the stack of cards was on the front desk if they weren't going to honour the offer.

Close to Paddington and Hyde park, but outdated

Posted Jul 8, 2017
Pros: Lobby was nice. Russian maid cleaning my room was super nice. Bus stops near by, taxi or uber too.
Cons: air con working all the time without complaining. Big traffic congestion area. Uber rides meet at the corner, so that and the taxis clog up the roads.
Location: paddington train station, hyde park a few blocks away, fast food (McD, BurgerKing, KFC and others near by)
The place is close to paddington, so it's easy to take the Heathrow express to Paddington and walk around the corner to this hotel. But that's about it. The hotel lobby is nice, but the rooms are dated. Bath room was so small I had to take a show, walk out to the rest of the room to dry off! I was there for a week, after 2 days the air con quit working; only the fan. Then the day I left it started working again (I didn't complain about it not working, but this sort of thing doesn't happen in a nicer place. I paid over $300 a nite. When I arrived at 7pm they didn't even have my room ready! So they were first going to offer me a free drink from the bar, but then decided to put me in another (smaller) room. I found out it was smaller after checking into the room and looking at the fire escape map which shows the rooms and sizes. If you need to be close to paddington, then the Novatel or Hyatt are much better, for the same price. I Probably. won't stay there again, unless I really need the convenience, then I won't stay as long. This was a business trip and the internet was absolutely terrible... free, but terrible.. choppy video, can't Skype a call and no webex or zoom sessions with a client.

The staff were fantastic! On arrival they noticed that my friend was struggling with steps and luggage and a walking stick, so they came and helped her. They also carried all our luggage upstairs where they had given us a room with a walk-in shower. They. Then carried it all down again on checkout. We cannot thank them enough.

Convenient for a Quick Trip

Posted Jun 30, 2017
I came in on the Eurostar and was leaving for an early flight out of Heathrow the next day - I usually stay at the Hilton actually attached to the station but a last minute change of plans ruled the Hilton out as it was booked. The is directly across the street from the Hilton and a 2 minute walk to the Heathrow Express - other than having to walk outside (thankfully no rain) the Mercure was just as convenient. I arrived in the evening and was quickly checked into the Executive King I booked. The lift was small but I was traveling light. The room itself was small but for London standards was good sized and I was actually surprised at how large the bathroom was. Plenty of outlets and one that could reach the nightstand with a little creativity. Also had a tea kettle and Nespresso machine. Toiletries in the bathroom included: shampoo (no conditioner but I had 2 bottle of shampoo so I am not sure if that was an error or if they don't include it) shower gel, lotion and bar soap. I am a petite person and the bathroom mirror was so very high - so high that I actually thought about dragging the desk chair over to do my makeup. Also the lighting for makeup was not very good, I noticed in the morning 2 of the three lights over the sink were burned out. Room is not particularly light proof - it was full daylight around 5am and the room was bright. I had to get up at 5:30 anyway but could be an issue if you wanted to sleep late. Room also had a lot of ambient city noise and vibrat

Overall it was average. No real complaints and nothing noteworthy to praise.
