Overall we enjoyed our stay. Pros: > Staff was all pleasant and provided appropriate information, no rude encounters. > View of lake and marina from Lodge Room was beautiful > Room was clean and comfortable Cons: > Only ate in dining room the first night. It was convenient. However, was buffet only and would definitely consider it Southern Cooking and needed some healthier options. As a result, we stuck to the soup and salad bar. Taco Soup was more like a chili, but we definitely enjoyed it. Salad bar was filing. > Some areas were somewhat worn, and could use a little refresh. In some respects almost felt like I was at summer camp ;) > Rooms not terribly soundproof. We heard our neighbors playing guitar and TV all night. Could hear conversations pretty clearly. > Indoor pool is closed on Sundays and that's the only day we had available and had planned on enjoying some time in the pool area. Apparently, steam and sauna are available in the area, but the jacuzzi hasn't been functional for a while. Final Note: If you have mobility issues or allergies to dogs, and are staying in the lodge, ask for a room on the upper floor as stairs are quite steep and have to negotiate them with your luggage. And dogs are allowed on the lower level rooms. We didn't have time to explore the area much, but if you're an outdoor person, definitely seems like there is plenty to do.

For a state park the rooms were better than expected. Mattresses and beds had been updated, restroom was well equipped and clean, and patio had two chairs and a table. All rooms have a lake view which is also nice. One key feature we loved is you can get from either side of rooms to the game room which leads up to the restaurant all while under cover in case it rains which it did our first night there. Food off the menu was excellent but only had that option one day. Buffet was good and varied daily which made it challenging if you didn’t like anything in it as not much else around to eat during the off season. Patios and balconies were all very clean and nice to sit and relax to enjoy the views, visit with family, etc. we will definitely go back for a longer stay to enjoy some water activities.

Great view by the lake but unfortunately it the road was closed going down to to the beach and the restaurant was closed.

Good news and bad news
The room was nice but the lodge itself is old and outdated. No housekeeping, I’m glad we only stayed for 2 nights. There are so many stairs, to get into the lodge, dinning room area, everywhere you go you will be taking stairs. Oh, and cobwebs and spiders on the balcony, overall maintenance is needed, dirty and rundown. On the up side, dining room food was good. Staff is great, very friendly. The view is beautiful from the balcony.

Great getaway
We loved the spacious cottages and front and back porch! The only drawback for us was picnic table and grills are too far from the cottage, we like to grill and eat outside, so it was a little inconvenient. Would like to be able to see more of the lake from the cottages. However we enjoyed staying there and will do so again. The employees of the park were super nice and helpful!

The place is in a gorgeous setting the view from the window was beautiful!! The room was large but the phone was broken. The floor was dirt and the buildings are old in need of repair and TLC. The price was very good!

Resort is Rustic, but also dated. Needs an update in rooms. Walls are thin. Balcony view of the lake would be incredible if trees were trimmed of low branches. I could tell that they were trimmed back in the last year or two.

They need to tell you that half of the rooms require going up and down stairs with your luggage. I am almost handicapped, but not quite, just a severe illness, and never expected something like this.

The property is old and in disrepair. Our room smelled funky, had bugs and the floors were filthy. The pool area was overflowing with garbage and no one was in any hurry to clean it up. The dining room is only open 4 1/2 days a week and there are no refrigerators or microwaves in the room so if you are there on the days when the dining room is closed, too bad.

We apologize for experience with us. Our rooms have been refreshed and recently reopened. We will look into this matter. As for the pool, we did have a large invasion of mayflies this week that caused extra time for the pool to be cleaned. We apologize again for this inconvenience. The dining room is not open due to staffing. We would love to be open 7 days a week, however since COVID we have not been able to obtain staffing.

This is a very beautiful park and lodge. The staff was super friendly and helpful. The lodge needs a little work which I am sure they are aware of and planning to attend to. Nothing to hinder your stay but to maintain its functionality and beauty it needs attention. We had a great time and will surely return.

The cabin is very dated. I was disappointed that we had no view of the lake. The outside was not in a manner that I felt like ok to use. Chairs rusty and dirty. All kinds of sticks and brush in side yard near picnic tables.

My husband had fallen the night before our registered stay. He is under a doctors care and has stability issues. His injuries prohibited us from making the trip. We were so looking forward to this trip giving us a chance to have an outing. The stay would offer a balcony sitting to have our morning coffee over looking a lake and watching and listening to wild life. The peaceful getaway would have been soul healing. The facility offered a swimming pool that would allow therapeutic exercise for him. We were so disappointed that we could not make the trip. Hopefully we may try again in the future.

The location is great but the property lets itself down. Dinner was low quality no better than a fast food chain. Smokers in nearby rooms spoiled our time even though the hotel is supposed to be smoke free. Water pressure was very low.

It was soooo quiet here! At first, I was surprised at how it felt like we were camping even though we were in a lodge. The room seemed a little outdated but I think it was more perfect for the setting. If you like being in the woods, in a very quiet place this is for you! I was pleasantly surprised at how updated the fitness building was. The pool was excellent there! Again, there seemed to be very few others here, even though it's spring break. Makes me wonder if it ever is busy.
