Overall we enjoyed our stay.
Pros:
> Staff was all pleasant and provided appropriate information, no rude encounters.
> View of lake and marina from Lodge Room was beautiful
> Room was clean and comfortable
Cons:
> Only ate in dining room the first night. It was convenient. However, was buffet only and would definitely consider it Southern Cooking and needed some healthier options. As a result, we stuck to the soup and salad bar. Taco Soup was more like a chili, but we definitely enjoyed it. Salad bar was filing.
> Some areas were somewhat worn, and could use a little refresh. In some respects almost felt like I was at summer camp ;)
> Rooms not terribly soundproof. We heard our neighbors playing guitar and TV all night. Could hear conversations pretty clearly.
> Indoor pool is closed on Sundays and that's the only day we had available and had planned on enjoying some time in the pool area. Apparently, steam and sauna are available in the area, but the jacuzzi hasn't been functional for a while.
Final Note:
If you have mobility issues or allergies to dogs, and are staying in the lodge, ask for a room on the upper floor as stairs are quite steep and have to negotiate them with your luggage. And dogs are allowed on the lower level rooms.
We didn't have time to explore the area much, but if you're an outdoor person, definitely seems like there is plenty to do.
