The property may have been 4* a couple of decades ago, but it is no longer. Sheets were dirty. Mold in the shower and bathroom grout. Mold on the balcony walls. Silverfish bugs. Terrible cleaning practices. Got food poisoning from buffet fish that was clearly not warm enough after taking a bite. The restaurants have ridiculous hours and the main eating areas are more like high school cafeterias than a 4* dining experience. Even the “specialty” restaurants (if you can get in with the stupid bloody website they use) have this cafeteria vibe. If you miss breakfast (which closes at like 9:30am) you’re screwed for food until lunch, because there is no other facility for food or snacks, unless you’re lucky enough to find a bar with some pretzels, which only happened once in our 5 days there. The drinks are handed out in ridiculously small single-use disposable plastic cups which are generating huge amounts of preventable waste, but to their credit the drinks are full-strength. But hey, we are encouraged by signs everywhere to “think green” by not taking too much food and reusing our towels!! The hypocrisy is unbelievable. The common areas and hallways around the rooms are dirty and haven’t seen a mop in years. The whole resort is dilapidated and in need of a major renovation, but the landscaping is pretty, and the view of the bay is incredible. Not enough to get us to come back though. I could go on but I’ve hit my character limit.

I don’t know where to begin. If I could give zero stars I would. The only people who were friendly and looked like they wanted to work at the hotel were the women at check-in. The hotel was “all inclusive” so I guess if you don’t mind eating on a buffet line and in a school cafeteria then this hotel is good for you. The buffet didn’t even offer Italian food. The women who served the “all inclusive” drinks slammed them down at you the drink spilt out of the cup. Espresso was like mud. The resort is huge and on a steep hill so if you are handicap or get tired easily it is not for you. They also had these huge ants all over the property. Can you at least spray the property? The so called beds were horrendous. It was like sleeping on a piece of cardboard with prison sheets. Your entire body felt all the springs. Definitely not for adults who want an authentic Italian experience. Not close to the main town and the beach was not clean. The shuttle that took you to the beach was dirty and hot. I had to end my stay early even though I did not get my money back. Took it as a sunk cost and stayed at a better hotel in Castellammare del Golfo.

The location is remote, with no easy way to get out anywhere except by making reservations for the tours. The access to the beach is from 9 am to 7 pm, and often it was closed earlier. The shuttle to the nearby sandy beach is also only until 6:30 pm. I wish it were possible to bet to the beach earlier, before breakfast, as well as later in the evening to see the sunset and water. The food was very good.

The Potential is Aesome, the Reality isn’t.
It would have been a sight to behold in its prime. It’s a shame that the hotel has become extremely dated and in some areas falling to pieces. We went in October so most of the facility’s weren’t even open anyway, we had professional swimmers in the main pool twice a day every day which ment access was limited and it was the only pool opened. We went exploring around the hotel which was depressing. As a whole our stay was alright but they didn’t have a double bed so we had to push two singles together and actually went out to buy proper bedding ourselves so that we felt comfortable. I think 3/5 is a generous rating as the hotel at most is 2Star establishment as there is no room service and when you go to the bar the bar tender takes 30min breaks at lunch times. The views made the stay acceptable. Won’t be back unless they have a refurbishment.

Checking in took almost 2 hours. We then drove to our building but the gates are all closed blocking the roads so you have to find a spot and lug your stuff a good distance to your room. This truck was awful with 3 tired kids under the age of 5. The slides were cool but smaller than we expected they were also very far from our room and that took another really long walk- a shuttle system would be nice for the whole property (they only have one for the beach). The view was beautiful at this resort; however, their payment card system is a total scam. If you visit only pay cash and insist on change in cash. The food was expensive and not good. Best part of this place was the pool and view. If you plan on lugging your own food and drinks with you go for it.... otherwise I don’t recommend this property.

THIS WATER SLIDE THOUGH!!! What more is there to say?! Just kidding... the hotel was awesome. Food was delicious and reasonably priced every meal is a buffet. The views are incredible. Friendly multilingual staff. The only complaint i have is there needs to be more employees at the front desk. There’s always a huge line of people and takes for ever to be helped. Sad Hotel
When researching hotels in the Palermo area, my son saw the water slides and wanted to stay here. I read all of the bad reviews and thought, 'how bad can it be'? We only stayed one night, thank goodness. The hotel is probably the worst that I have ever stayed in. This is an enormous complex with many motel-like buildings with a sad 1980's feel. The exterior is in severe disrepair with broken steps, lights, and tired looking vegetation. We didn't see any groundskeepers other than one who was sweeping cigarette butts in the parking lot. The interior of our room was just as depressing. The size of the room was fine. However, the room has probably never been updated. There weren't any comforting ammenities and the air conditioning barely worked, pumping warm air. We tried to go to the main lobby in the evening to feel better but it was even hotter there! Alas, we retreated back to our room to sleep off the depression in our four, single, stiff beds. We woke the next morning for our kids to ride the water slides, which was the best part of our experience. There were only two attendants manning the slide area...one facing the entire 4-tier slide and one, on another level, facing the sea. Unfortunately, there was no way for the attendant facing the slide to properly control the dangerous behavior of some of the guests who didn't take into consideration the safety of others. Overall, the hotel feels like it is operating at the bare minimum and I cannot recommend it.

Reception staff terrible. It took 45 min to check in. The staff seemed not to be trained properly as they kept interrupting the receptionist who was checking us in asking for help for very basic problems. Most of the time you were not even acknowledged when standing at the reception desk. Bath towels were awful and the rooms dated which is a shame because the place is amazing and has lots of potential. The swimming assistants and the bar staff were really nice and friendly

4-star views, 2-star (at best) hotel
We stayed here specifically for the slides to the ocean. We even called ahead to ensure they were open and the hours of operation and inquired again at checkin. Imagine our surprise when we went down in the morning to find the slides were not and would not be open for the day. That being said, the rest of the hotel was as we expected and as others have reviewed - go for the slides and the views. Without that, the hotel is not worth even an off-season discounted price. Interior/exterior worn and dated, smell of sewage in the room, most uncomfortable beds, TV consisted of 10-ish channels on a computer screen, single worn-out chair on the "terrace", 7-11 type of breakfast, and inconsistent information among staff (club cards, payments, facility availability).

Not worth the hype
The hotel looks run down. It does not give you that authentic Italian vibe. Rather its commercial and crowded. It took us over 2hrs to check in. You had to grab a number and sit and wait in the hotel lobby for your number to be called. When we finally received a room it was occupied by a man who held the door shut and told me it was his room. The hotel staff did immediately assist us in getting another room which was closer to the lobby and therefore considered an upgrade but after the check in experience it was hard to be content. The shower clogged up if you used hard water pressure and therefore our showers had to be quick or it overflowed. The towels were hard. The room old and the upkeep of the entire hotel was run down. Needs paint. The nightclub closed early. The only plus about the hotel was the Tobagan.

Worst hotel I've ever stayed at!
I booked my stay even though the reviews weren't that great. It was near my families "home town" inTerrasini, so I opt to give it a try. It was worse than I read in reviews. The rooms are so outdated it should be condemned!!! The bathroom was so old, that the blow dryer attached to the wall had the look of an old fashioned hair dryer with the large hose tube. You had to open the shower to use the Toliet. Weeds everywhere, no upkeep, worse food in all of italy! Rude staff! Stay away, youve been warned!!! Then I prepaid through Expedia on my July credit card statement, and they Recharged my credit card upon checkout, saying it was never paid. NEVER EVER AGAIN even if it was free!

Only for the water slides
We stayed at this hotel for their water slide/toboggan and we were not dissapointed! The view and slides were great! But unfortunately that's the only good experience we had. Location is about an hour away from Palermo and 30 mins taxi from airport..we paid 50 euro each way for taxi ride from/to airport. In addition if you would like to have dinner in Palermo and head back to this hotel at night, taxi charge almost 80-90 euro! The room was cleaned but very outdated, the bed was squeaky but it's worth getting the sea view balcony since the view is amazing ! Breakfast was ok, not great almost dining hall experience like. The check in and out was slow, and the Internet only works in lobby area.

4 person singles requested, pic showed 2 singles and a double which worked also, we got two doubles...slightly awkward. Actual room ws as an apartment (nice upgrade of space) but 3 blocks away. Upon arrival at just before 5pm no one was around, luckily I have EU service but no one answered the phone. Used FB for initial contact, received a call right away, but had to wait 45 min for service. Nothing said to give arrival time in advance during regular hours, nor was I contacted with a request for the information. The room was adequate for our needs, minus the double/double beds.

So disorganised...don't stay here!
Have just returned from a week in this incredibly disorganised place and want to warn other holiday makers not to spend their money here. There was no hotel information pack in the room so whenever you want to know anything, you had to ask at Reception - and it's a huge hotel, spread out across the cliff top, so it's quite a walk to Reception. There was always a long queue of people there shouting at the receptionist - whoever shouts loudest gets dealt with first. You have to pay for all bus tickets at Reception...again, long queues, limited information on the service and a timetable designed to ensure you have to be back at the hotel for dinner. There is NO taxi service in the local town of Terrasini; but we were not told about this when we took the last bus into town for dinner. At 11pm, my children and I were faced with the prospect of a 7k walk back to the hotel in flip flops...not recommended! The taxi service is hit and miss...some drivers will only do local journeys, some charge per person (very expensive!) and some will only be booked via Reception...so confusing. The hotel food here is dire :( For 20€ I don't expect to be served Smash instant potato and tinned fruit salad...but that's what we got. The pasta was ok, all salads had aubergine in some shape or form and the desserts were often weird blancmange-type things. If you were dreaming of delicious fresh fruit salads, glorious ripe tomatoes and fresh crisp pizzas....forget it!

Great family trip, just expensive
We recently stayed at this resort and while it was amazing sliding all the way down into the ocean it's quite a hike to get down to the slides. It's worth the experience :) our so called "ocean view" was blocked by huge trees and we could only see small parts of blue behind them. The dinner was a little more then I was willing to spend 20€ per adult 15€ per kid and the selection was not to great. I know that I would not get my money's worth for my kids. We ended up driving to the next town over and eating at a restaurant for 20€ cheaper. Room was very basic and had individual beds so you can push then together but yea they slide easy. The pools were great especially the ones that were shallow for my kids. The way they make you pay for is very frustrating as well, to buy ice cream you have to go to the bar pay for a card then use it to pay for your items then if there is money left over walk over to reception and get back the difference. You have to put all meals on cards which is just a hassle. Overall it was fun and we would like to go back someday! Hope this was helpful

We were en route to somewhere else but wish we had stayed longer. It is a large impersonal place and we were not there long enough to try it out. Bedroom was adequate but difficult to get in to as lock was jammed. Wonderful vue of pool and sea from large terrace. No proper food when we arrived at 11pm as the hotel was almost impossible to find. Pizza restaurant was open but too far away for us to walk to. Breakfast only adequate but other hotels on Sicily provide similar. Not their strong point. Pool was vast and wonderful. Water exercise daily provided. Slides and pools into the sea which I was desperate to use were just too far to walk to. Pleasant gardens and easy car parking. Excellent live music provided. Did not have a meal. Overall fair value for money and good for teenagers.

Great idea, just a bit unorganised
The pools and slides were fantastic, and the Reception staff were amazing. But the way the food system works was utterly ridiculous! You had to get a ticket for every meal at the reception, even though everyone had individual wristbands for what board they were on. Also you couldn't pay in cash for anything, you had to top up a card and the denominations were only in £10??? Was bizar! Breakfast was abysmal! And far too busy! Evening meals were expensive for what they were. £20 and the buffet was pretty standard. Although I was impressed with the fact that they did gluten free pasta as i'm ceoliac. Overall it was a nice holiday, but I wouldn't visit the hotel again.

Great place, awful rooms!
The hotel was okay by Italian standards but I would not bring my children to this hotel. The slides and pools were great but it was a long walk down to the slides. The breakfast was a typical Italian spread of meats, cheeses and pastries. The rooms were not at all what I would expect for a place like this, very poorly done and our safe didn't work. If not for the awful room I would definitely have given a higher rating!

Wonderful location
The location of this hotel was fantastic and the views were amazing from the terrace outside our room and from most of the site. It is a very big hotel but the accomodation blocks are fairly low rise so do not dominate too much. There were a number of pools including a 50m pool but they were not as extensive as I expected and I imagine the pools and sea area would feel very crowded in high season. Access to the sea is via a lot of steps as it is a cliff side location, there is no beach. The water slides looked amazing but were closed on Mondays which was a big disappointment as we chose the hotel because of the water slides and were only there for the one night so couldn't use them as we had an early flight the next day. I would also warn other guests that reviews complaining of lengthy check in queues are not exaggerating, it took us nearly an hour to check in and there were only a few people in front of us in the queue. The problem seemed to be that there were very few staff and the passport details of every guest had to be input into a computer in detail. We were also not very impressed with the breakfast which was very basic. We didn't try the buffet as we went to the local town to eat. The hotel is also very isolated so staying there without a car would be very restricting.

The hotel is a dump. The rooms are dirty. The staff is unaccomodating at best. The food is awful. We even saw a cat walking on the food laid out at the breakfast buffet. Yes the view is beautiful but you would be more comfortable sleeping on the edge of the sea than in the uncomfortable beds. The cattle call atmosphere, the low quality of the accommodations will astound you. The rooms doors do not lock on their own, you need to use a filthy outdated key to lock them. Overall the hotel is quite nice and the pools are fabulous. Food was only mediocre not what you would expect in Sicily. All meals were buffet and very expensive if not included in your package. First night we arrived to check in at about 10pm and we were starving after a long day travelling. No dinner to be had anywhere in the hotel as restaurant only open till 9.30pm. Eventually found a very noisy bar that served us 'toast'. Not a good start. As we didnt have a car and the resort is outside Terrasini we thought there would be no prob getting taxis in and out. Wrong again! Hotel will only provide their own taxi service which is way overpriced especially after 10pm. Eventually found a bus service to Terrasini and there is a bus to Palermo from the resort but the return times are very early. Overall staff were lovely except for one very rude young man in reception on our last day. Pity because the bar staff in particular were so friendly. I would not stay here again unless I had a car and wasnt bothered about the food. Make sure to include lunch or dinner in your package. Great pools, good facilities for kids, rooms were basic but very clean and we had a massive balcony overlooking the sea..all depends on what you are looking for.

This resort is fabulous! Great location and lots to do. We were there for 2 nights and used it only as a base from which to make day trips exploring the island. No time to take advantage of the pools and other amenities there. Small complaints here - staying in the "village" we were limited to 2 dining areas which we found confusing and not convenient. Directions to the hotel from the Palermo airport were also confusing. Signage to the hotel and on the premises not the best. The village section seemed to be mostly for families, which we were not. Again, not a huge deal since we were not there much during our stay. To more than compensate for the small complaints - it was right on the water and our balcony had breathtaking views! The price was very reasonable. To take full advantage of all the resort offers, this would be a perfect spot to vacation for a week!

Not catered for english speaking guests!!
I'll start with a positive. the grounds of this hotel are massive and fabulous. there facilities of pools, slides and sports equipment is excellent!! However, its isolated from anywhere! we felt that being english speakers we were nothing but a complete inconvience to the staff. our room was broken into on the first night and found it really difficult to get appropriate help the next day ( one passport was stolen!) Their system of paying for drinks is nonsence, its done on a basis where you top up a card at reception daily and use it around the premisis, but some dont accecpt them, no cash at any of the bars but you can pay cash for their prepaid card. Although on occassions they asked us if we could pay cash!! I have never ate less on a holiday, 20-30 euro for a buffet, but not a lasange or decent pasta in sight!!!! theres only so much pizza one can take!! We found very few of the bar staff to be friendly. there was entertainment nightly performed by a talented animation team, but never in english and not always translated to english. the animation team went roud the pool during the day speaking to guests, they never once approched us, we feel this is because were speaking english. The manners of the staff at the recption area is what mostly spoiled our stay as we had to engage with them on almost a daily basis we actually wondered if any of them had undergone hospitality training! i would not recommend this hotel to english speakers as you will feel very frustrated!!!

Citta del Mare Resort, has seen better days
Revisited this resort after twenty five years and was dissapointed, it has not kept up to modern times . There is no internet access in the rooms accept at reception. There was just one windsurfer for all the hundreds of guests to share and no boats for hire. Reception basically ignores you or is unhelpful, and it took me three hours queuing just to book one excursion at the agents. Transport in and out of the resort is very difficult, we found it impossible even to get a taxi. On the positice side , the place iks cheep, and cheerful, the animators are keen, the baby dance club is well organised and the food is abundant and excellant. The pools and slides are also excellant, though it was difficult to find a sunbed or umbrella.

Don't go there!
This hotel needs serious refurbishment but besides that, the service quality is so poor we regreted going there. Positive: nice park, cool nights, good for kids (not our priority). Negative: terrible food, no taxis (except for the hotel's one - EUR 50 for 7 km drive to nearby Terrasini, where you can get nice food), freezing pools, no shade, not enough sun beds nor umbrellas, no real beach, no beach towels, poorly furnished rooms, no room service, empty mini bar, excursions only in Russian (!), ... Sicily is only for sightseeing, not for holidays. Any Turkish 4* hotel is faaaar better.
