Only nice thing about it is location

Posted Mar 21, 2017
This hotel is on the list of expedia vip hotels. But one of worst hotel i have ever stayed. I have visitied 5 cities in Sicily and never paid 21 euros for a day to car park. Carpet of the room was full with dark stains and seems like never been cleaned. In pictures our rooms' bathroom seemed like large but it was really small. We were happy for staying only one night as a result. If there was second night we would probably change hotel.

Elegant old hotel center of Palermo

Posted Mar 20, 2017
Palermo is a gritty , bustling, in your face city, and the Palmes is a wonderful oasis. It has not kept up with the times, but still feels grand. Over look the worn carpet and you'll be transported back to more civil times.

Three Nights in Palermo

Posted Mar 20, 2017
Pros: Very classy and centrally located
Cons: There is very noticeable age on the hotel.
Location: Everything as it is very centrally located within Palermo.
I booked a junior suite for a 3-night stay. The hotel has a long history in Palermo and it seems most of the locals knew much of the hotel. There is quite a bit of age on the hotel, but that is expected for being over a century old. Still, the age seemed to add elegance and class. Portions of the hotel have been refurbished to present a touch of modern class. In all, someone staying here has an appreciable balance of modern class and vintage elegance.

A Grand Dame of a Grand Hotel

Posted Feb 23, 2017
Pros: Professional, efficient, welcoming and helpful staff. General warm ambiance.
Cons: Breakfast buffet was adequate, but expected better of this foiur-star-rated hotel.
Location: Via Roma shopping and nearby restaurants, teatro Massimo 5 minutes away, shopping also very close.
Reminiscent of the Golden Age of hotels, this lovely old lady stands the test of time. Beautifully decorated lobby and bar area, warm and pleasing motfis, plants, comfortable chairs, it's a pleasure to stay at this hotel. Staff were amazingly helpful and efficient, especially with the few minor concerns in my room upon check-in. Domenico at the front desk was especially welcoming and helpful. My room was comfortable, clean and tidy, serviced daily. Main part of Old Town was just about 10-l5 minutes away on foot, plus there is a FREE BUS that goes around downtown - check with concierge. Highly recommend this wonderful place to stay in Palermo.

Lovely grand old hotel in a great location

Posted Feb 19, 2017
Pros: The staff, the location and the comfortable beds.
Cons: The carpets are old and worn
Location: It's within easy walking distance to restaurants, the shopping district, opera house and theaters.
This hotel must have been magnificent in it's prime. It is still a lovely place with very comfortable rooms in a prime location. The staff was extremely helpful in every way possible. The carpets are very old and worn out and all the windows have peeling paint... however, I don't hesitate recommending this hotel without reservation. It has a very good breakfast buffet.

Grand by name

Posted Nov 25, 2016
Pros: Good sized rooms which while lacking in some mod cons were quiet and comfortable. Good selection of breakfast options served in a grand dining room
Cons: Poor wifi (first world problems!) Minibar in the rooms
Location: 10 minute walk to the main tourist attractions in the centre of Palermo
Beautiful hotel a short walk from the centre of Palermo on the main road, via Roma. Spent two nights here with family in November 2016, a little outside peak season so the hotel and the town in general was pretty quiet.
