"Great Location but air conditioning failed"
We stayed for 3 nights at the start of our holiday and it was excellent BUT on the way back we stayed for a further two nights and the air conditioning failed. It compromised an otherwise pleasant stay. We would go back - the hotel was good value.

Grand Hotel Piazza Borsa

GRAND HOTEL PIAZZA BORSA is perfectly located within walking distance of the historic center of Palermo. Also, being in La Kalsa, the restaurants are fun and there is a nice energy in the evening. The hotel is handsome and majestic. The staff very nice. It is stately but a bit impersonal. Lovely, but cool and not embracing. We were very glad we stayed there, however. The pros outweighed the cons.

"Amazing value for money hotel."
Yes, the hotel is on a second floor with no lift and I can understand this can be a problem for some people. We had very little luggage so climbing all the way up did not worry as at all. However, the location is spot on, right in the heart of Palermo, five minutes walk to Quatro Canti (Four Corners). One can easily walk everywhere and enjoy some great restaurants nearby and all the main attractions of the city. The staff was wonderful; they could not do enough for us. The hotel is very pleasing inside and does not have a feel of a cheap hotel, however, the rooms vary and some are not very nice (room 11), but some are beautiful. It depends how long you are planning on staying, if more than one night, I would recommend asking for/or selecting a better room and paying a bit more (the prices are cheap anyway). Breakfast is very basic but acceptable. The atmosphere at the hotel is very relaxed and extremely friendly. I would definitely stay here again. For a cheap hotel, this one is great!

Good, helpful reception. Nice comfortable room. Breakfast was disappointing, could have been so much better with more fresh fruit and juices and better choice of breads and pastries etc. Well located for walking to the historic sites. Lots of restaurants nearby.

"Well situated, but rather strange, B&B"
We arrived early afternoon and were surprised to find that they wanted full payment in cash immediately (there had been no mention of this before). We didn't have sufficient so I had to set off searching for an ATM - luckily we had a car and there wasn't too much traffic. If we had arrived late this could have been a real nuisance. The room was rather strange! We were a party of three and we got a small apartment with two rooms, two shower rooms and two TVs. There was a lot of grand looking marble featuring and even a small cooking area. It was all very comfortable and suited us fine for one night. However it had no windows - the only natural light came if you opened the main door which opened outside. For a longer stay or at a hotter time of year (we stayed in March) this could have been a bit claustrophobic. The location was great - it was possible to park free immediately outside and it was just a short walk to the centre of the city or across a small park to the sea front and lovely views. We had to leave early for a flight so didn't sample the breakfast. I would recommend the B&B for short stays but it might not be so good for longer periods.
