Good value for money

Posted Sep 6, 2017
Really central location, decent breakfast included and good every day cleaning. Interiors are quite old but it doesn't really matter to me. For what I have paid, high value for money.

Best Value for your $ (If you are on the budget);)

The Hotel Moderno is a perfect place for a traveler on Budget. It's super clean. Friendly stuff and perfectly located. The ratio cost/benefit is a bargain. Don't expect to find modern furniture. However the single bed was very comfortable and the room was super clean and spaciousness I'll stay again here.

Central location, but quiet

Posted Jul 18, 2017 on Hotels
Hotel Moderno is not modern, as it occupies the two top floors of what was an olde palacio; while there is a lift to the 3rd and 4th floors, if you suffer any limitation vis-a vis stairs, you should demand a 3rd floor room, all of which are on the same level. Those on the 4th floor are up and down, as was the fashion in antique palacio floorplans. The room I occupied had a small terrace overlooking the interior courtyard; not all rooms have this feature. There was but one accessible electrical outlet in the room + one in the bathroom; this required some negotiation: the reading lamp or the computer. Due to a malfunction, the wi-fi was unavailable in the rooms for two days; subsequently, the service in the 4th floor sleeping room was exceedingly slow and deteriorated daily. The housekeeping service was very good indeed; I was highly satisfied with their work and amazed at their endurance. At times, management seemed pre-occupied with internal training & accounting requirements to the detriment of client requests. Only on the third request did I obtain the required service. Apparently, the hotel contracts with a private “taxi” operator. The initial quote for a trip to the bus/train station, an easy 10-minute walk without heavy luggage, was 50 Euros. When I objected, it was reduced to 10 Euros.

Short stay cheapy

Posted May 2, 2017 on Hotels
This was a no frills hotel located downtown. Unfortunately we arrived in the middle of a street food fair which made getting to the hotel almost impossible given the road closures and traffic. The hotel was on the third floor and access was via an ancient lift. Our room was on the fourth floor which still required access down a small flight of stairs with luggage. The room smelt from the bathroom and was generally dark and musty. We wanted to use the laundry but we were told it was closed as it disturbed the guests...as we were right next to it this did not matter. The only positive was that it was within a short walking distance to the Opera House...thankfully we only stayed one night which was more than enough for Palermo

EXCELLENT LOCATION

Posted Apr 27, 2017
Pros: Location, staff, buffet breakfast.
Cons: More comfortable mattresses.
Location: Perfect location for exploring all of Palermo.
Clean, basic and comfortable. Wonderful buffet breakfast that includes meats and cheeses, unlike most Sicilian breakfasts that are heavily focused on pastries (you can get that, too, at this hotel). Very central, not only to the historic districts of Palermo but also the New Town.

Good Location and Affordable Option

Posted Apr 18, 2017 on Hotels
The hotel was great value for money, for the price you pay, the hotel is a bargain, free breakfast, it is located in the centre, 10 mins walk to the Centrale Train Station, and closeby to shops and restaurants in the centre. The only downside was the room we had, which was a bunk bed and queen bed squashed into the one room which smelt like smoke (from the previous guests), other than this the hotel was great. I would certainly recommend for an affordable option.
