Beautiful pool, unfriendly staff

Posted Aug 7, 2016 on Hotels
We spent 14 days in July at Sirenetta. Nice, big room for the whole family of four (25 m2). Balcony was tiny, though, and useless in the summer heat, because the AC was blowing hot air out on it (strange construction). Cleaning was done nicely! Beautiful, very big swimming pool, but no serving/ice cream, sodas, anything... There was a bar, but it never opened. One receptionist was kind and smiling and spoke English, but rest of the staff did not - hardly a word - and the senior staff were not easy to get to smile. On the contrary, they seemed uninviting and a bit angry... Wifi only worked sometimes, very poor signal strength. Nice beach, but the area is dirty and full of trash. Very few people speak English. No public transportation (train station under reconstruction). Heavy traffic on the road between the beach and the hotel. Nice villages in walking distance.

Nice hotel close to a private beach.

Posted Oct 9, 2015
Pros: Dinner near the pool, and breakfast on the balcony with a nice view.
Location: Conveniently located near the international airport.
Planning to come back for longer stay especially as the dinner served near the lovely pool was very good and in order to take advantage of the private beach.

Hotel with nice pool and free beach!

Posted Sep 11, 2015 on Hotels
The hotel is located just across the road from the beach and includes a free pass, this is one of the biggest pros of staying at this hotel. The beach is nice with a cafe but sometimes the sea is quite wild! (large waves e.t.c) The room is large and bed comfortable along with the electric window shutter I slept very well. The air conditioning units are new and are working fine. It looks like some modernisation has been done since the pictures and last reviews. The furnishings and bathroom were a bit old but in full working condition. The hotel is a little overpriced and there are very little services in the hotel although there is a nice swimming pool which is hardly ever used. (I think you need to use a swim cap) There is some noise (music) at night but it wasn't enough to disturb me when the window and blind were closed. Breakfast is very avearge and closes early at 9.30am. The surrounding area is a little rough to the eye but there are some nice restaurants around the hotel and in Isola D Femmine centre. There is no immediate public transport but is possible to walk to the train station in maybe 15-20 mins. The airport is about 20-25 mins by car and there is a shopping centre (Poseidon) a few km's away in capachi.

Cortesia siciliana

Posted Sep 7, 2015

The Hotel has a lovely pool but also close to sea

Posted Sep 4, 2015
Pros: Cleanliness. Friendly and helpful staff. Breakfasts were filling. Nice restaurant if a little expensive.
Cons: Would have liked a table tennis table.
Location: Apart from the beach and a couple of very reasonable restaurants near by you really need a car if you want to go visiting.
We really enjoyed our stay. The hotel is very clean with a lovely large pool and yet their own beach is no more than 100 metres away. All towels and linen were changed every day. We appreciated the friendly and helpful staff and the fact that the Hotel was quiet - unlike the larger Hotel next door. Would definitely consider returning in future.

Ci è piaciuto molto la colazione in terrazza. Il padrone gentilissimo. Giovanni una persona simpatica. Il mare a due passi e spendito. Ci ritorneremo dinuovo

Nice, access to beach, but poor location

Posted Aug 30, 2015 on Hotels
Unfortunately getting around this part of Sicily is extremely difficult to get around unless you have a car with no trains and very minimal bus services, so this hotel should only be if you intend to sit on the beach or hotel pool the whole time. It is clean and comfortable with friendly staff, but only have basic English. You have access to the beach which is good with umbrella and banana lounge Monday to Friday (not included on weekends). Best to pre-organise a taxi with hotel prior to arrival for €30 otherwise could be difficult getting there? I would recommend doing thorough research before staying here i.e. transport and depending on the purpose of your visit
