lovely hotel in bad neighborhood of Palermo

Posted Oct 29, 2016
Pros: the restaurant, the courtyard, the rooms (especially the bathrooms), and service quality.
Cons: wifi service!!!
Location: Located in one of the most unappealing neighborhoods of Palermo.
Once you get to it, Palazzo Brunaccini, is a fine hotel. Newly refurbished, beautiful decor, excellent service, and a great restaurant with outdoor courtyard seating. The neighborhood surrounding the hotel is a problem. The property is bordered on one side by the Ballaro outdoor market, and the area of Via Maqueda on the other. While the market is a memorable experience for many, it also produces epic amounts of trash and garbage. Via Maqueda is a high-traffic road filled with cheap, ugly commercial businesses of all sorts. Walking from the hotel to any other place in Palermo is not a pleasant experience.

Elegant. Hotel in the center of everything

Posted Oct 23, 2016
Pros: The room, the art, staff, and restaurant. The location was ideal for us as well.
Cons: The neghbourhood is a little skeptical cry. I loved that, but it might bother some people.
Location: Visit the market, wander the streets of Palermo, and take in the excitement.
Loved this hotel. Located right by the marketin Palermo, it is in an active, colorful part of the city. There is ample street parking right by the hotel, once you find it. The staff members are super helpful, and the restaurant us excellent and reasonably priced.

Great staff. Very nice boutique hotel in the heart of Palermo. It was within walking distance of most tourists sites.

Convenient location, comfortable and excellent sta

Posted Oct 17, 2016
Pros: Staff, location and general amenities.
Cons: More variety of local and seasonal produce for breakfast.
Location: Well located in the historical centre of Palermo with almost everything in walking distance.
The hotel is in a very convenient location for the historical centre of Palermo. It is less than 100 metres form the Ballaro market which in daytime hours is a hive of activity with traders selling almost everything must mostly local food produce. At night when the market closes the area changes personality and is the area where presumably African migrants to Palermo live and congregate. Some people may be feel threatened by the area after dark but in seven days we had no problems. The hotel security is good with the door remaining locked at all times and access is immediate by the concierge staff that is in permanent sight of the door. The staff in the hotel: concierge, restaurant and chambermaids cannot be faulted. They are all welcoming and polite. Nothing is too much trouble. We had a suite, which was comfortable and clean, decorated in classical style with modern facilities. Our room was located at the back of the hotel overlooking the courtyard, which is used for dining, and functions, which caused the only downside. It was noisy in the evening until late at night especially when music was playing. Breakfast was continental and adequate. Given the close proximity to the Ballaro, more variety of fruit, cheeses and other local produce would on the face of it be easy to provide. WiFi was available throughout most of the hotel which worked reasonably well. All in all my award of 4/5 for its overall rating seems a little harsh. Had it been out of 10 I would give

Beautiful hotel out of place with surroundings!

Posted Sep 19, 2016
Pros: Elegant, relaxing, calm, quiet, secure ... lovely happy staff ... spotless, comfortable, spacious room ... the courtyard restaurant/bar was great!
Cons: once inside we had no complaints!
Location: it is impossible to find with GPS / SATNAV as it is set in a labyrinth of a one way system of narrow lanes in a run down and slightly unnerving area!
The hotel is beautiful once inside as it is an oasis of calm, elegance and security ... there is a wonderful walled courtyard for eating out, hanging out and relaxing in which was a real treat ... the hotel's position and it's surrounding area are very run down and at night most guests, like ourselves, seemed to stay put and eat in the hotel - not venturing out as narrow lanes, very little street lighting and the slightly menacing feel of the area and the people hanging around didn't lend itself to be explored at night !!

Clean and quiet hotel. The market is just on the corner but you can't hear any noise from outside. Staff very friendly and helpful. We have been pleasantly surprised with our room upgrade. The hotel is in a very good location. Definitely would stay there again

Nice hotel in shady area

Posted Jun 16, 2016
This is more of a serviced apartment than an actual hotel. Room was beautiful and huge but lacking some details like towel racks and plugs to charge phones Etc. Bed was super comfortable and sheets were great. Wifi works sometimes and not consistant (like most hotels in Italy). The breakfast was as sad and not good. The two girls working at breakfast were just chatting and watching videos on their phones the whole time. Flies were circling above the breakfast buffet. Scrambled eggs looked like vomit. Seriously the hotel should pay a little more attention to details. They should go and learn service from Algila hotel in Syracuse. Beautiful property though. One last thing, we got harassed by some men whenever we walked back to hotel after dinner. Lots of shady men standing outside the street that leads to hotel. Hard to avoid them.
