I need to be refunded. They did not accept us and we did not stay and had to leave. The reason was that we were accompanied 3 girls (cousins and friend), and they asked us for a marriage certificate even though I am American and my nephew was Canadian. We had to leave in the middle of the night (almost close to midnight) looking for another hotel instead of going out to celebrate the new year. Since we did not stay, we need to be refunded.

The best parts of this property for us were: 1)The location, though quite remote felt totally safe in beautifully landscaped gardens full of singing birds and a peacock all within a tranquil setting of vast greenery and gorgeous sized outdoor swimming pool 2) The staff were always polite and could not do enough to help you. What I would improve on is the breakfast variety each day ( perhaps yoghurt / prunes, cheeses with bread and loose fruit that you could help yourself to. Also and some piped/background music throughout main riad would've been more inviting especially at night when sometimes eerily quiet.

Great relaxing hotel
I stayed at Terra Mia with my wife for 9 days. This is a great hotel which is a perfect escape from the hustle and bustle of Marrakech town centre. Maliki, Omar and the rest of the staff are very friendly, and were attentive to our every needs. The hotel itself is a beautifully designed riad and set in a quiet area east of Marrakech with view looking onto the Atlas Mountains. The breakfast was good and the food at dinner was always delicious. The only recommendation I would make would be that some music in the evening during and after dinner would add to the ambience/ atmosphere (there was the occasional night where it felt deadly quiet in the evenings despite people having dinner in the same area). Other than that I would recommend the hotel to other travellers and would happily stay there again myself.

Excellent customer service
When we arrived at Terra Mia Marrakech the owner Malika kindly met us; a system error meant she wasn’t aware of our reservation on Expedia and didn’t have the room we have already paid for on Expedia. She gave us an upgrade to luxurious room in a private riad. Dinner was delicious and breakfast lovely in the cool air by the pool. We would be thrilled to return!

Close to Marrakech, very relaxed.
About 12 km from Marrakech and with regular shuttles this is a very relaxing place to stay. Each villa has a pool so before or after a visit to the city one can cool off. The Riad doesn't have a reception so doesn't feel like a hotel. Even for the few days we spent there it was a good idea to be able to escape the city and find some peace in the lovely quiet grounds, with the mountains visible in the distance.

Great Riad!
The Terra Mia is a fantastic Riad. The staff were helpful, attentive and mostly made our holiday memorable. The rooms were comfortable, food delicious and general atmosphere of the hotel relaxing. The manager Hakim, ensured we were happy and well looked after, he organised our day trips and also a surprise 40th birthday celebration with traditional Moroccan musicians, food and ambiance. We highly recommend the Riad for anyone who wants a hotel that is away from the hustle and bustle.

Beautiful locations and premises
It's a lovely place in beautiful location, very peaceful, about 20-30 min drive from the city. We were in a villa with our own swimming pool but my children didn't really use it as the pool always had some dead insects in it even though it was cleaned by the hotel staff regularly. This was due to the rural location and I think could not be helped. There were quite a lot of Mosquitos in the evening so a lot of insect repellant is advisable. Again this is due to the rural location. The room was clean, the staff very helpful and the shuttle in and out of town was very convenient and the staff very kindly gave us choice of times to return. We saved a lot of money travelling by shuttle! The food was freshly cooked and absolutely delicious but quite expensive I felt compared to the restaurants in the city, too costly to eat there every night but had no choice as we chose to return at 4pm more often than not because of the children. The breakfast was delicious and staff very kindly cooked many things on request for my son as he really enjoyed their croissants with milk and egg and the msemin. Overall it's a lovely riad where the staff make every attempt to accommodate you and I would definitely return but due to the distance from town will probably split my time between a riad in the city and the Terra Mia.

Beautiful grounds, good service, slightly remote.
Family trip to Marrakech, 6 in party, myself, wife, mother and 3 kids, the accommodation provided was as a lodge about 60meters from the main riad, the lodge had 2 bedrooms, 2 bathrooms and its own private swimming pool. Due to the nature of our group an extra bedroom would have been handy, but we were all very happy with the accommodation and service, the only negative is the location, with is a good bit outside Marrakech although a complimentary shuttle is provided from the riad. If you want a relaxing holiday with plenty of privacy, I would definitely recommend Terra Mia.

Fantastic Riad with private pool
We are a Family of five (kids 13,16,18) who stayed five nights at Terra Mia Marrakech during October half term. We stayed in one of their private fully furnished two bedroom Houses that had a private pool. Even in October the pool was such a welcome relief after a hot dusty day in Marrakech. The Riad is about 15 minutes from the centre of Marrakech and offers free transport three times a day to/from the Riad as well as Airport collection/drop off. This took the hassle away from using private Taxis. That suited us fine as we spent all day in Marrakech, then ate dinner outside the main Riad on a lovely patio. The food was excellent and authentic. Our holiday was the perfect mixture of adventure and sight seeing during the day, and chilling out by the pool in the evening. Highly recommend.

Great place
Were at the hotel with our family of 4 - 2 adults, 1 baby, 1 4 year old. It has a great setting, very helpful staff, clean rooms and nice owners. The artistic Moroccian-French setup, great views of Atlas mountains, clean and fresh air are definitely plus. It is 15 - 20 mins away from Marrakesh, and transportation was not an issue.

Pleasant, calm and relaxing place
Half an hours drive from the busy souks but a free shuttle is provided twice a day. Great price and you get the best of both - a busy day at the souks and in the city, and then a relaxed peaceful atmosphere back at the riad.

An oasis of calm in beautiful gardens.
Terra Mia was better than expected. I stayed in a suite with a private pool with 4 children. The suite was a very good size and the pool magical (they really should post pics of the private pools!), especially swimming at night in moon light :) The Riad is about half an hours drive from the main town of Marrakech but the hotel provides a free shuttle bus twice daily. The hotel will also book a taxi if you want to travel outside of the shuttle bus times at a cost of 150 MAD (approx £11) - highly recommended to spend at least one later evening in the main medina in town as it feels so different to the daytime medina. The Moroccan people were very welcoming and friendly and the culture so different to experience. We have all had an amazing holiday. Terra Mia is a welcome calm base to return to after the hustle and bustle and heat of Marrakech.

A nice hotel but in a very remote location
We booked this hotel at the last minute as we had our original booking cancelled. We had spent 5 days in a riad in the medina and wanted a couple of relaxing days in a quieter location. We had booked to stay in the Palmerie area and thought that this hotel was also in the region. It turns out there are areas 1, 2 and 3 of the Palmerie and this hotel is in area 3 which is quite a long way from the medina. The taxi fare there was expensive and when we arrived we found that the hotel was on a farm in a remote location and there was nothing to do apart from relaxing by the pool unless you wanted to go into Marrakech town (the hotel provide daily transport there). The only other people staying here apart from us were a couple with 2 young children. The food was cooked to order and was very good although the waitresses only spoke French which was a problem at times. Most of the time there were no staff about to give us any information such as how to operate the tv! The hotel itself was clean and comfortable and is set in lovely gardens with a very nice swimming pool, if you want a totally relaxing break it's fine but for us it was too quiet and too remote.

Fantastic family friendly oasis
We based ourselves at Terra Mia for our first family trip (2 adults and 3 children, 11,10 and 8 years old) to Morocco and would recommend it to anyone looking for a beautiful, calm and extremely friendly place to stay. From the delicious breakfast served outside in the early morning sun, to the fantastic pool (ideal for cooling down after a day in the souk), to the eclectic mixture of tajines served in the Moroccan courtyard, nothing was too much trouble for the owners and staff. The rooms were clean and authentic, the gardens lovely and the taxi service great for getting into Marrakech and exploring the area. We looked at other options closer to the city but opted for more tranquil accommodation away from it all - we weren't disappointed and would definitely recommend.

Terra mia sits in a wonderful desert garden 20 minutes from Marrakesh. A pool for the Riyadh, and then individual pools for the 3 surrounding villas. We stayed in a villa, great food, clean, luxurious and our own private 10m swimming pool - we had the opportunity to play family water polo! Highly recommended.

Great Riad half an hour from the city centre.
We are a family of five from the UK. We stayed in a two room suite with a pool at the Riad at the end of December 2013. It was our first time in Morocco and our expectations were based on previous reviews and guide books to Marrakesch. The pool is not heated and is not really useable in the winter months – even though we had great weather (18c to 23c the week we were there). I can imagine the pool being a great feature in the warmer/ hot months – especially following a hard day in the city itself. Once you are at the Riad your options are limited as there is nothing within walking distance of interest. However the return shuttle from town usually gets back at 9pm in the evening. Omar the owner and his sons were great – organising day trips for us to Ulrika valley and Essauoira on the coast. Their advice and being available at the end of the (mobile) phone meant we were able to have an effective time all the time we were there. Would definitely recommend Terra Mia – especially for families and first time travellers to the city – you’ll need some peace and quiet after a busy day.

The place was lovely, absolutely gorgeous and sooooo peaceful. The owners and staff were great. We were picked up from the airport when we arrived and driven into the city every day and finally Omar drove us to airport when we left. All the food we had was superb I'd give it a 6 out of 5 really.

Tranquil out of town riad
Terra Mia was a relaxing and tranquil experience. We had a large two bedroom villa for the 5 of us which included our own pool, which was unfortunately not heated so we were unable to use it. The villa was well furnished, clean and beds were very comfortable. The downside was that the tv didn't work at all and the kitchen literally just had a fridge and no other equipment or utensils. We ate dinner there two evenings, once in the dining room and once we arranged to eat in our villa, which was nice with the children. It was well cooked but pricy compared with eating in town. The staff were friendly and the service in and out if the medina was very convenient, despite the 25 minute ride.

Terra Mia lovely but limiting.
The setting and villa were lovely. The staff were all very helpfuland tried hard to make our stay memorable A very peaceful holiday. As other reviewers have noted however the lack of tea/coffee making facilities was a pain. A hot drink was delivered with breakfast but not enough to get us through the day. We did get flask of hot water on some days as requested but it didn't always appear. The other downside was breakfast which was lacking in variety (we were there for a week) it was a continental one, bread based the usual croissant/ bread, jam with a flavoured yoghurt. It took three days to get some fruit to go with it which we found surprising as fruit was in abundance in all the markets at the time we were there. We think fruit is a daily essential though and you cannot buy your own and bring it in to the villa, but it may not be a problem for others. Another postive was the care and attention that were lavished on our children, they thoroughly enjoyed their time which meant we did too. Would definately stay again.

A few days in Marrakech
This is a family run hotel and all the staff were very helpful. The hotel is in its own grounds in the middle of nowhere so was very quiet which is just what we were looking for. However they provide courtesy transport to the city and the airport, which they are very flexible with. The food was lovely, but needs to be ordered in advance as it is cooked especially for you. If you are staying for more than a few days and wanted to eat there every night you might find the menu limited. For the holiday we wanted this was an excellent choice, and I would recommend it to anyone looking for a quiet authentic riad which also had a pool and gardens.

Beautiful but a bit far
Beautiful riad hotel in a secluded, peaceful location, away from the hustle of the main medina. Excellent breakfasts. A cosy log fire in the evenings. Great place if you want to take it easy. Not so convenient for going to the centre, although they did provide a very prompt and free shuttle service, available for journey in to the centre in the morning and return in the evening.

Very picturesque riad set in spacious grounds with the added advantage of three 2 bedroom 2 bathroom villas with private pools within the grounds. The owner is very obliging & will go out of his way to ensure your needs are met. A courtesy shuttle is provided into the city every day, the rooms are cleaned daily and the food was of a very good standard. The riad provides a tranquil haven away from the madness of the souks & square.

Best family holiday we have had! Would definitely recommend!
A small, family run riad that offers exceptionally good service, in a lovely, quiet and peaceful location, away from the heat, dust and noise of the centre of Marrakech. We were very impressed by Hakim, the owner and his family. They all went out of their way to do everything possible to make sure that we had a great holiday. The riad was lovely, the gardens were beautiful and the pool was great. There was plenty of space for our children to run around and play safely. We were able to combine sightseeing in the ancient city with a nice and relaxing time at the riad and by the pool.

Overall worth it.
This is a great place to get away from the hustle and bustle of Marrakech. The grounds are beautiful, the food is great, and the building is lovely. Judging by past reviews, attention to customer service has dipped a bit, but in general if you asked, or asked more than once, you got what you needed. We would have prefered a little more written information before or after arrival (it took us several days to find out that the shuttle to town departs on the same time everyday, more or less). Food was expensive, but worth it for the convenience and flavor and quality. If you ask, the shuttle can pick you up from town later, although the time must be negotiated. Take time to smell the fresh roses all around the place.

A wonderful Riad providing a first class service
Wonderful hospitality provided by Hakim and his family at Terra Mia. We chose it as our destination because of the overwhelmingly positive reviews. We can confirm that they are all true, and have no hesitation in recommending Terra Mia as an ideal place to stay. Set in beatiful gardens on a large private estate, the riad is tastefully decorated and furnished. It is only 25 minutes by car, but a whole world away from the hustle and bustle of the Medina, providing an excellent, peaceful retreat. Bedrooms are air conditioned, and the large pool was a welcome relief from the August heat. From the moment that you are greeted at the airport to be whisked away by private transfer, you are left in no doubt that Terra Mia prides itself on the highest levels of customer service. Evening meals from a comprehensive menu of local dishes are available at a time of your choosing. Should you want to travel into Marrakech itself, daytime or evening, either to eat their instead or just to visit, Hakim is happy to take you in himself, or arrange for a family member to do so. Then simply text or phone 30 minutes before you want to return, and a car will be waiting at the meeting point to bring you back. A fantastic complimentary service ! Breakfast is served whenever you choose to surface in the morning. The attentive serving staff seem to appear from nowhere bearing freshly squeezed orange juice, youghurts, pancakes, croissants and fresh bread, jams and honey. Thanks Hakim, we will return!

Magical Morocco
We had a fantastic stay here the week before the volcano chaos! The food was lovely, and the riad was beautiful - so peaceful and relaxing. It was also spotlessly clean, and the staff were fantastic. The free shuttle into town was a big bonus, and when sometimes it couldn't pick us up, Hakim, the manager, would send a taxi out for us. We felt totally safe due to his care during our stay and when our holiday was unexpectedly extended due to the ash cloud, Hakim promised us that if we needed to stay longer that he would honour the price we paid originally, which was actually discounted through Expedia. He gave us discounted use of his landline to make calls to the travel companies and also called us a number of times even after we left the riad for a hotel that Easy Jet arranged for us, to see if we needed any further help. For me, this is what makes somewhere special - people that will go above and beyond to help make you at ease and ensure that you get the best our of your stay, and this is what Hakim did for us. I wouldn't hesitate to recommend this riad as a wonderful place to stay: we would definitely stay again.

Wonderful time in Marrakech
I highly recommend the Terra Mia Riad as a beautiful and quiet oasis outside of Marrakech. Hakim was a very gracious host whose help on our behalf spanned the gamut of waiting patiently at the airport for a very delayed plane arrival, retrieving a pair of eye glasses that were misplaced, setting up a day long visit to the Atlas Mountains, and serving up two meals of delicious Tagines. The accommodations felt authentically Moroccan and were spacious and beautiful. If you go, you will not be disappointed.

Great place to relax, but check there are no parties on first..
Great accomodation in a fantastic setting. We stayed at Terra Mia for one night at the end of our week trekking in the Atlas Mountains. Unfortunately our stay was marred by a (very loud) party in the main riad which went on until 3am - not ideal when you have to get up for a flight at 6am. The staff were also somewhat distracted by trying to look after the party. However, we got the impression that they really care about their guests and that nothing is too much trouble. The evening meal was great and an early breakfast was arranged for us. The staff were also extremely apologetic about the noise when we saw them the next day and have since emailed to apologise again and say that they will no longer allow large parties unless they book the whole riad. I would highly recommend this venue for a relaxing break.
