Waterfall in Tahquitz Canyon (in Palm Springs, California). The Palm Springs Art Museum has some great exhibits on mid century architecture (no photography allowed inside I'm afraid). The whole town looks like an episode of the Jetson's.
Ps February is the best time to go if you're weak to the heat like me. About time landscape architects designed some structure for the desert... Note: in German we call these Schwiegermutterstühle - mother in law's chairs.
March in the California desert means the ocotillos are in bloom. The desert is full of life - you just need to get out of your car and start walking to appreciate it! The Cactus to Clouds (C2C) trail starts at the desert floor at 483ft and ends at Mt. San Jacinto peak at 10,834ft. Throughout the 23-mile hike there is a total elevation gain of 13,400ft. Some people opt to do a C2C2C roundtrip hike instead of taking a tram back down, making the hike over 34 miles.
There is no water for the first 11 miles and 8000ft gain. Most people carry anywhere between 3-8 liters of water. The best time to go is during the fall when the weather has cooled and there’s still relatively no snow at the peak. Highlights of the hike were seeing vegetation change from desert scrubs to an alpine forest and watching the sun rise out of the desert on the way up.
5:51 am Lykken Trail #goldenhour #sunrise #hiking Seriously tasty and creative bfast in the midst of the ever-hip diner of the ACE Hotel. Pictured here is the coffee cake French toast. Dig in! This Mirage house is an art installation by Doug Aitken. It's a full-size ranch home looking out on Palm Springs, covered inside and out with mirrors. Visitors can freely go inside the house and enjoy the fun and surprising views. This might be the best bfast I've ever had. Super creative and fresh. Here's the Every February, Palm Springs does Modernism Week. Dozens of mid-century homes are opened up for tours. It's quite a hoot to see how they're decorated! #Troveon hiking the Indian Canyons in December, only in Palm Springs. The sun is setting but still burning. North Palm Canyon. Feeling #blue in Palm Springs. In the foothills of Mt. San Jacinto, overlooking the Coachella Valley. The photo was shot at the Palm Springs convention center at dusk. The mountain cat which appears so real was the silhouette of a bronze sculpture. The beautiful backdrop made for a surreal image. I thought the tower was cool Spanish #architecture style. The foccacia bread Amd balsamic & olive oil they serve before u order is the best ever. Yummy mojitos as well. Great atmosphere, they have a patio with mist cooling (as most places in the Palm Springs do). Friendly, good service perfectly timed as well. If you want a really great reasonably priced meal go to Kalura Trattoria!! The colors of Tahquitz Canyon (Palm Springs, California). An easy hike with information markers about the native tribes that inhabited the area. Bonus-- it was in the shade in the morning! #lifeatexpedia
🌴🌵🥂🍻 Sunset over the 18th fairway. #palmsprings #california #golfcourse Quick trip to Palm Springs. #lifeatexpedia Very good pizza and nice atmosphere for family dinner. One of the most striking sights you will see is the vast array of wind turbines that sprout from the dessert floor when driving into the beautiful Coachella Valley. Snapped this shot as I was leaving my hotel in PS. The sky with the building, palm trees, and flowers all caught my eye and blended well together. No filter!
Amazing Palm Springs sunrises! There are nothing like them! Palm Springs Beautiful courtyard in the center of the hotel. This place is a fantastic boutique hotel. Fully remodeled and at the end of the strip so it's nice and quiet. Grab breakfast at Cheeky and dinner at Birba. Both are connected! #treetrove Glowing moonset over Mt. San Jacinto in Palm Springs. View from the hospital's campus This picture was shot through the maildrop of an old Palm Springs estate capturing the fountain that stood in the courtyard. Apparently all hikeable... Great place to eat in Palm Springs! Aerial tramway lobby. Highway 101 Palm Spings Aerial Tramway.. We were lucky to get a glimpse of President Obama's private plane at Palm Springs airport. It's a smaller airport only accepting a few of the major airlines, but that only serves to make it an exclusive-feeling experience. The airport itself is mostly outdoors, since it rains so rarely in Palm Springs. Very cool experience and the scenery is tough to beat! Downtown Palm Springs at sunset Second location of this deli and market that lives up to its name. Fresh meats and baked bread with good olive tapenade and sides and don't forget dessert like Nonna's lemon torte. Also get some Italian groceries or prepared meals for later! Good breads and premium deli meats with tennis themed names for their sandwiches and tennis showing on the TV. Ranked in the top 50 for inexpensive places by yelpers. What a magnificent door – stainless steel and brass located in the Las Palmas area of Palm Springs The entrance to this Mexican hacienda with its vintage pots and traditional tile work caught more of my attention than the actual home. Bob Hope's house. View of Bob Hope's house taken from mountain trail (December 2015) Palm Spring, California -- where a lot of the streets are named for Hollywood stars of past eras. One of the many fascinating doors to hideaways in Palm Springs I'm doing a bicycle trip of the Palm Springs area photographing beautiful landscaping, architecture – especially gates and doors and having a lot of fun; this palm oasis is merely part of a front yard in Las Palmas Yummy margaritas, live music, and great food! So lovely to eat outside on a warm evening. Tour the Historic Tennis Club neighborhood near downtown to step back into the 1950s in Palm Springs. #Blue Check in but don't check out
