Room reservation was not kept.

Pros: Location but the hotel is generally run down.
Cons: Competent staffs who handle the situation better.
I had two rooms reserved. When I arrived at the hotel, there were no rooms available for the "Signature Room" which I paid extra money for. They gave me the substandard room and $60 credit for one room, and they were able to give me a Signature Room for the second room. I reluctantly agreed to the accommodation. I wouldn't have paid extra for a nicer room if I did not mind to the regular room at the first place. When I got to the room, Signature Room, I've noticed bugs and flies all over the ceiling. I called the front desk and this time, they gave me $100.00 credit (different amount ?) and moved me to another substandard room. With my family together, I did not want to make big deal out of it. Last day of the staying at the hotel, around 4 am, I heard a loud plumbing sound coming from the bathroom. I ignored it and kept sleeping. In the morning, my wife almost passed out when she found out the bath tub was full of toilet waste and smelled terrible. Apparently all the waste water were back flowed to the Bath Tub in my room. This was major health risk. My wife and daughter yelled, and I could not stay in the room any more. I check out 7 am. I talked to the front desk, and their reaction was that this is very common thing to happen. The manager handled it by just giving me another credit.. I asked for the full refund and they refused becaused I stayed at the room. I feel like I have been treated as a guest in a third country run down motel.

Make sure the amenities will be open before you go

Boats featured front and center in marketing for closed for the whole week. The main pool was closed and only one pool as working, which was next to construction going on with lots of noise. JW Marriott did not inform me of this upon booking, or before I arrived. It was scheduled maintenance and planned. Very disappointed since we booked this as a resort not a hotel room. Had I been informed of the out of order amenities we would have stayed at a different hotel close to friends across town. Staff very friendly and food at resort was very good.

Nice getaway - not great food

Cons: Restaurants!
Everything at this place is good except for the restaurant; we stayed there and had the complimentary breakfast for a couple of day; every single day we observed the hard time they had managing the situation and observed multiple problems. Food quality is nothing special either.

We continue to return every year - the staff are great and friendly. The hotel is beautiful and operated well. I love it!

Great spa and pools. The restaurants were ok. Not the best food but it was nice to not have to leave the resort.

La Quinta at Thanksgiving

Pros: The scenery - the very efficient and kind staff - THE GYM!!!! - the many pools and tennis courts
Location: If you are a family with kids - they probably want to stay in the pool all day - but the desert museum, and Shields Dates (very close) for lunch
The hotel under new ownership has mixed features. I was most disappointed with the state of our casita (room). The bathroom was huge because they took out the shower unit and instead put a shower head in the bathtub. Towels were OK but not luxurious. The gym was great - some new ways to work off dinner.... The best part of the stay is the beautiful landscaping and view. Hurrah - they are still beautiful. Our casita needed a replacement in the key card unit - leaving us stranded until the very nice (and very efficient) staff came and replaced several parts. We will go back because that's what our family does every year. Perhaps next year we will think twice before going to the enormous Thanksgiving Buffet - delicious - but $90 per person???? Staff continues to be very helpful. Landscaping and pools are still the highlight of the day.

Soaking up sun or enjoying the desert

We love this hotel for just chilling by the pool and soaking up sun. Poolside bar has the best cheeseburgers I've had in a long time.

There are boats that give you tours of the property and come into the lobby! The boats can give you rides to one of the many restaurants on the property. Fun for grown ups and kids!

Very outdated, more like a courtyard+ brand.

Pros: Positive side - spa café was excellent, gym facilities were very good, sushi bar was excellent.

Location: desert trip concert
Understaffed and unprepared for sold-out status during Desert Trip weekend. Apparently, they were sold out that week also with large convention. Happy for them, but that should not impact the guest. "Guaranteed" 4:00 check in not honored, which created big inconvenience. Staff was unaware of options re on-site F&B. Room furnishings outdated (stepped on a wood screw which must of fallen out of outdated dresser), bedding below standards. No mini-bar, no free Wi-Fi, too long of a line at lobby Starbucks, but only coffee option - even the Courtyard brand has a complimentary coffee station. Landscaping was in terrible shape - dead plants, weeds, etc. After complaining we received a $50 credit - $25 per person during our 3 day stay at $700+/night.
