West coast travels

Posted Jan 23, 2016
My wife and I have traveled quite a bit over the years and this is one of the nicest resorts we have ever stayed at. The grounds were exceptionally landscaped and the staff was very efficient and freindly.

SORRY, BUT VERY OVER-RATED HILTON HOTEL

Posted Jan 22, 2016
It took 40 minutes at the counter to find our confirmed reservation to check-in; no prominently marked handicap parking where our unit was located; had a slow flushing, then backed up toilet in our assigned unit; discovered the phone directions to reach housekeeping were challenging, if not non-existent; and, found a very heavy (if not dangerous) methane gas smell permeating the lobby/ check-in area at departure. On the plus side, the bed was comfortable, but the desk chairs were too small to sit in. Loved the fireplace timer! Location and staff were also terrific.

Great location not Waldorf Quality

Posted Jan 18, 2016
I'm sad to report that the room, the furnishings, linens and amenities are very basic. Unfortunately, if you love the Waldorf brand as we do, this hotel will disappoint. Other than the front desk staff being nice, this is just a basic hotel in a very lovely location.

LOVELY stay!

Posted Jan 3, 2016
Cons: I was surprised to have been charged $20 for a kickboxing class. I think group exercise classes should be included in room rate.
Location: You really don't need to leave, but shopping on El Paseo is always a treat!
We found the La Quinta Resort to be lovely. The grounds are stunning and meticulously landscaped. We had a Resort Casita, which was perfect. The room was clean and well maintained. Check in was a breeze. We loved all the social gathering areas, with fire pits, kids playing, music, dogs frolicking. We stayed the week between Christmas and New Year's and it was clearly a very busy time for the resort, resulting in slow service in the restaurants. But when on vacation during a peak season, that's a bit expected.

Lovely property!

Posted Dec 4, 2015
Pros: The beds were comfortable. The bathroom was beautiful. Staff was very accommodating.
Cons: My room door could be opened without unlocking (double doors that if you pulled the handle, both doors came open)
Location: The Tram ride is FANTASTIC. The Thermal Club is an interesting facility.
We stayed at La Quinta Resort as part of a trip to The Thermal Club (racetrack) with the BMW Performance Center. The property is a jewel in the desert. The rooms are well-appointed and very comfortable. We had a little patio outside our room, and I would book the same room again. It was quiet at night, and very near the restaurants and lobby area. We arrived somewhat late on Saturday of Thanksgiving weekend (@ 10pm) and we were pleased to find someplace open on site where we could relax with a drink.

Relaxing desert getaway

An early winter break. Although the property was not fully occupied and not everything open we still felt well looked after. Highly recommend booking during off season

Nice hotel with awesome views

Posted Nov 17, 2015
Pros: The views. The staff. The grounds and pools.
Cons: Maintenance speed at answering requests. Price for food at the local restaurants.
Location: There is a nice downtown district just up the road. We enjoyed a weekend art fair and live music there.
We really enjoyed our stay. The room was cozy and the view from the patio was fantastic. The mountains in the background were beautiful and watching the sun go down with the fireplace on was magical. Overall the room was very clean and the bed was surprisingly comfortable. The grounds were well manicured. It was easy to find a private pool/hot tub as there are so many on the property. Our only hiccup was we initially had an issue with the fireplace inside. We called and they said they would send someone over. We waited about 20 minutes and gave up on anyone coming over. We ended up messing with the fireplace again and were able to get it going. We were also disappointed with the price for breakfast at twenty6, an basic eggs Benedict plate was $20. The others were pushing $30. I guess we should have expected this from a restaurant on hotels grounds. Aside from these two bumps we really enjoyed our stay and the views from our room.
