Paradise in the desert!Posted Sep 20, 2015
We stayed here for five nights in mid-September and absolutely loved this hotel!! I don't think there are enough descriptors to really do it justice. In fact, I think this is my first five-star review! The hotel grounds are mellow and have an awesome art deco vibe. Lots of little private nooks for guests, beautiful flowers and cactus plants, lovely pool area with plenty of chairs and shade, mellow music playing throughout the day. Everything is spotless and well-maintained. We were there at low season so the hotel was not full, but it is designed to give guests the feeling of cozy privacy, so I imagine it would be still great even when full capacity (which is only 16 rooms or something like that). Our room was spotless (near the breakfast bar), and we choose one with a private patio area which was a nice touch. Very comfy beds!! Having a 24-hour pool is a great feature too. Everyone who works there is so friendly and helpful, from the front desk (especially Alina (hope I spelled that right!!), to the maintenance and cleaning staff. As other reviewers said, the staff mostly stays out of sight but you know they are there if you need something. The free breakfast is a bonus - reasonable selection of bagels, OJ, coffee, bowl of oranges/apples/bananas, yogurt, etc. Also took advantage of the free happy hour drinks at 5:30-6:30 each night. Martinis and wine were on offer. The location was perfect. A five minute walk to the main strip of shops and restaurants. No restaurant o

A Very Pleasant Stay - even in August!Posted Sep 4, 2015
Pros: Quiet, private, relaxed, stylish, well located, nicely decorated, great value for money
Cons: There's no lounge or restaurant. The complimentary breakfast is nothing special but better than average Coffee Mate is gross...
Location: Great - one block west of the main shopping and dining spots but a few blocks north so there isn't any problem with noise.
There are at least two places in the world where the fashionable people never go in August. One of them is Paris and the other is Palm Springs. People don't like Paris in August because it's at the height of the tourist season. August is the slow season in Palm Springs because it's incredibly, incredibly hot! However, I chose to go to Palm Springs in August for all the reasons people avoid Paris in August. Palm Springs is beautifully quiet and so uncrowded that there's no problem getting a table in a restaurant or help in the stores.( though some are closed) The best thing however is that everything is about 1/4 the normal price! The heat isn't even an issue because everything is air conditioned. I've stayed in many hotels in the Palm Springs area ranging from funky motels to 5 star resorts. I was very pleasantly surprised by the Movie Colony Hotel. Even though this small, fenced boutique hotel is located right downtown on Indian Canyon, it feels exclusive and private. The rooms are centered around the pool and a courtyard. The focus is on outdoor living. The office and housekeeping staff , while gracious and pleasant, went home at 7 pm. While there's a number to call if you have a problem, there's nobody around to bother you. It makes the hotel feel like your own home. You can sit by the pool or relax in the hot tub well into the night. When you wake up in the morning, the staff has returned and laid out breakfast in the court yard bar. All in all, it's was a nice comfortabl

Schönes Hotel in Palm SpringsPosted Aug 7, 2015

Intimate and Convenient.Posted Jul 31, 2015
Pros: The relaxing environment. The intimate with no fuss.
Location: Tramway to San Jacinto. Downtown. Art museum. Lots of others.
We arrived after hours however we were given clear instructions to get in. I had a couple concerns and called to discuss and was quickly assured all was okay. The place was intimate, clean, relaxing and convenient.
