Everything was great! The only issue was the shower temp varied from Hot to Cold thru our entire shower. We were in room 302.

Mixed bag of OK, poor, pathetic and sneaky

Posted Oct 16, 2016
Pros: The room
Cons: Sneaky cancellation policy buried in fine print. A below average motel for an an above average rate. we felt ripped off.
Location: Location was OK. Quiet residential area easy to get into and out of town.
The Royal Sun is a cut below the Motel6/Super 8 quality of motels. The room was OK. Clean, spacious, quiet, good maid service, fridge and microwave. The Royal Sun web site lists a safe but there was not one in our room. Parking was convenient. We had little interaction with staff but they all seemed pleasant and friendly. The pool and internet are poor. Lost connections were common. The pool area has a few newish patio sets of table and chairs but the loungers are very old, worn, faded or damaged. The breakfast was rather pathetic. Typical of many motels : juice, coffee, yoghurt, cereal, waffle maker, toast , fruit and pastries. However there were only two choices of cereal, just bruised apples for fruit, not sure what the single choice of pastry was, and no protein. We arrived on Sunday and the selection got worse as the week went on and it seemed nothing was topped up. We left on Friday and that morning there was a little more fruit. We would eat leftovers from the previous nights dinner. When I booked this the Expedia grid showed free cancellation and a reasonable cost so I made the booking. I have never had a problem with this before so did not read the fine print or regulations. When I got the confirmation from Expedia it showed that the first night could not be cancelled and gave the costs for each night of our stay. Well, what a surprise. The cost for the first night (Sunday) was about 4 times the cost for Mon, Tues and Wed. The mid week cost was about right.

Pros: clean and well kept grounds.
Location: Have the Palm Springs shops and restaurants....the casino.... the botanical gardens..... the consignment shops.... the tramway..... the mall/theater.
Enjoyed the quietness of a Monday..... very nicely renovated, and great for the price. No complaints. Enjoyed the town and casino.

Nice spacious rooms....comfy bed...mountain views!

I go to Palm Springs once a month for 5 days. There's nothing fancy at the Royal Sun but if you want a friendly staff, large room and excellent maid service this is the spot. Close to everything!

Tired hotel

Posted Aug 22, 2016
Hotel is showing it's age, Upgrades are being made, but more needs to be done. Room was dreary and depressing. Very bad leaking faucet in shower. Price we paid reflects the quality of the room. Next tine will spend more for room in Palm Spriings, This was only for one night and just to sleep, but one still wants to feel comfortable.
