The hotel is family owned and the daughter, a sweet girl proved to be of fine assistance, as did the other family members. But overall the lodge was rather depressing, with a dark and windowless dining hall/room, a very uninviting and unkempt back yard, very limited hot water usage (about 1-2 minutes) and paper thin walls that made it seem like one was sharing a room. Perhaps even worse, the fact that one must acquire a key to the outdoor when one seeks/wants to exit the house or go outside, which in this case, means giving up your room key and having to wait sometimes just to get the outdoor key, is something I have never experienced before in all my years (35) of shoe-string and non shoe string travel. It all makes for a very confining and I would even say, debilitating experience, one that begs the question for any budget traveler: why stay here when there are muchos hotels at the same price that clearly exceed in worth the atmosphere of this hotel?
