Casa Romero was the only place in Boquete available to us during 4 days of Carnival. Housekeeper Miriam was very nice and had been there 33 years. The porch was the highlight of the house; very large with view of yard & mountains beyond. Many birds. The "Master" bed was like a brick. The bathroom was not very clean. Low water pressure was typical of an old house, and the hot water stank. The lack of other guests made the situation better/quieter than it could have been. The worst thing is the absentee owner, who lives in Panama City, keeps his young, non-neutered Labrador Retriever caged on the property 24/7, with no human contact beyond occasional feeding. The poor dog is literally going insane from his solitary confinement. It made the stay painful to see the desperation in this lonely dog; which is bred for human companionship.
