I just needed a reasonably priced place for the night due to a very long layover between flights. The place was clean, and comfortable. If you are looking for a place with frills, this isn't it. The young man met me and didn't know English. we discovered Google Translator. He made sure I was awake (because I had a very early flight), helped me get the uber which only cost $12 to and from the airport, had a cup of coffee, an apple, and a cookie for me. I wasn't expecting anything so that was pretty cute. I would return.

Convenient location
Great experience. Unbeatable quality for the price. Hotel staff Rene very pleasing to deal with, helpful and corteous. Centrally located. Close to many shopping malls, restaurants, Albrook mall and many government offices as well. I have stayed here many times and it’s a great deal for any traveller on a budget.

Nice little "family" hotel
I last stayed here a few years ago. They have upgraded a room I stayed in before. It was o.k. before, but now it's much nicer. Do remember to include taxi fees in price comparisons.

Not at all what I expected
The room was tiny at just over twice the size of a double bed and it had no other furniture in it. The TV was hung over the bed at an extreme angle and I was afraid it might fall on us during the night. The walls were cracked and the shower had tile loose.

In general the hotel was good, in a very quiet area of Panama, but very close to a principal avenue. They have a good breakfast, considering the price. The rooms are ok, it wasn't big but I consider that for a couple it was small, but it was ok. There wasn't room service but that point wasn't an issue for us. Carlos, who attended us was very kind and helpful.... In general terms, is a good choice for a reduced budget.

Avoid the Pear Room
I booked the Pear room through Expedia based on the good reviews. Unfortunately, our experience did not reflect the positive experience expressed in other reviews. It is by far the smallest room I have ever stayed in, and I have stayed in hostels before. I would not recommend the Pear room for two people, or even one person who likes room to spread out. There is only one TV table and no other surface to put anything on. You end up having to use the bed or the floor to go through your luggage. The description says an extra bed is optional, but if you put another bed in here, there would literally be no room to walk. The description also says memory foam bed, which is a joke, but we found it comfortable enough to sleep on. It would have been nice if they used a fitted sheet on the mattress--I was happy I brought my own sheet. It would be nice if they added hooks and a towel rack and gave you a hand towel. However, the room is clean with no evidence of mold and no smell. It does have air conditioning which was a little tricky to figure out, but it worked well. The TV is rather awkwardly placed and can only be watched when lying in the bed. The staff are very nice and helpful, but we did not find them overly helpful as so others did.

The room had a double bed in a single size room. There was no hot water. Breakfast was disappointing- fruit (a sliced, rotting apple)., toast and scrambled egg. There were teabags but no hot water to make tea. There was no sugar for the coffee.

We arrived around 9am cleaner/chef on duty very lovely lady tried to be helpful until front desk arrived. We had requested airport pickup cost 40 dollars could of got a taxi for around 10 dollars found out later! Room small shared bathroom with room next door and anyone else that apparently cared to use it ie late stayers staff etc. wet towels left on floor by someone who had used the shower. No room service for 2 night stay waste toilet paper bin in shared bathroom not emptied during 2 night stay! Chef/cleaner on second day miserable unhelpful lazy watching telly in bedroom too busy to clean rooms. Ran out of coffee said she would have to go the supermarket but she drank the last cup of coffee. Area is quite far from old Panama 10 dollars every time you go out can be negotiated. Area commercial no restaurants near by apart from Mc Donald's no bars we could find. The man on the front desk spoke good English was very helpful. Would I stay here again definitely not i would like to speak to people who have stayed and given it a good rating as I feel it was not the same place.

Arrived 1st February requested airport pickup cost 40 dollars found out we could of got taxi in the street for around 10 dollars! (Local airport not international paid 35 dollars for taxi to international airport.) on arrival cleaner welcomed us she was lovely friendly front desk arrived and was also very helpful. Next day different cleaner/chef miserable unhelpful ran out of coffee but she drank the last one! Said she would have to go to the supermarket but obviously not that morning! Had a shared bathroom presumed it was for us and the room next door not the case as near the front of the hotel used by staff and late leavers for a shower dirty towels left in bathroom requested not to put toilet paper in the toilet so went in paper bin next to toilet not emptied for 2 days room smelly! Cleaner offered no room service. Rooms very small. A long way from Panama have to get a taxi so can work out quite expensive especially if you go into town during the day and again at night approx 10 dollars a trip can barter for around 6-8 dollars worth doing. Hotel/hostel in a commercial area no restaurants near by or bars would not recommend for all the above reasons glad we only stayed 2nights would definitely not return. All I can say if booked change your booking!

A homey atmosphere.
We just spent 8 days at the Mediterranean Dreams.The rooms are basic, clean & the beds are comfortable.We enjoyed the included breakfast.The staff is very friendly& helpful giving a homey atmosphere.Carlos, at the front desk, was exceptional, giving us excellent service at all times. We are completely satisfied. T

Great Staff, good value for your money.
Staff was extremly friendly, spoke very good English. This is a Bed and Breakfast located in a very commercial area very far from all points of interests. Everything was at least a $20 round trip by taxi. This is a bed breakfast with minimul room furniture. We had a private room with bathoor--the room consisted of two queen beds, a double bed, full lenght mirror and two narrow shelves. Everything was clean and breakfast consisted of two eggs, toast, fruit, juice and coffee. Our bus to Costa Rica did not leave until midnight so the staff keep our luggage safe and then let us hang around the lobby until 9:00pm when they called for a taxi.

A thrifty hostal in a converted home in the El Dorado neighborhood of Panama City. The room was simple, clean but the shower produced only mild cold water. The receptionist was attentive, kind and friendly host who made this guest comfortable after arriving late. He made the extra effort to get a snack before the actual breakfast time since this guest had an early departure time. The cab ride to the Tocumen Airport took about 35 minutes when leaving at 7 AM..

The hotel was clean, the staff extremely helpful, and the breakfast was excellent. We stayed for two overnight layovers, but it was a little bit far for that purpose. Next time I will stay closer to the hotel for a layover, but if I ever visit Panama again, Med. Dreams will be my place to stay!

The staff is very friendly and helpful. If you are a first timer you will feel comfortable and secure. Breakfast is good. The location is very good, close to all with may good restaurants within 3 blocks. I found it good to drive site seeing in the day and have staff call for a taxi at night. Panama roads are not marked well. I recommend Mediterranean Dreams for a place to start exploring Panama. Richard Downing Florida

House Style Lodging
Note that you are looking for a house in a residence area. Not an actual "hotel" per-se but it is in a great location and good for a short trip. The only part I was a little annoyed by is that to "come" to the house, they have to buzz you in. And It took me awhile before I was able to get into the "house." Other than that, rooms are cleaned, if you are going with a group of friends, you have a nice patio, kitchen area, etc. For my short trips, I would probably still considered staying 1-2 nights here again

amazing hospitality
The hotel is surprisingly convenient. Although it seems to be in a secluded residential neighbourhood, it is only a five minute walk down the street to a very busy main road and active part of town, with a variety of places to eat and convenient transportation options. Taxis to the sites are inexpensive. The real draw of this place, however, is the amazing hospitality. From the moment you arrive you are well taken care of. And the garden out back is quiet and has nice views.

While this is not exactly what I would call a hotel, more of a hostel, it was nice accommodations. It looks more like a house in a residential area. Daniel was very friendly and helpful, suggesting restaurants, calling a cab, and just generally making us feel welcome. The rooms, while older, were neat and clean, and it was quiet. It is near a main road, so there are restaurants close by. There is also a complimentary breakfast. I would stay there again.

Staff was very friendly and accommodating. The street that the hotel was on was a little difficult to find and the staff was outside looking for us after I had called them. The room was clean, the bed comfortable and the breakfast was good. We sat out back in the evening and even though the hotel's location was one block from a very busy street, you could not hear any noise. The hotel stocked a refrigerator with beer, wine and water that could be purchased.

This is a small, personal kind of place. The beds were temperpedic for the best sleep in the world. We stayed here twice, once in a shared bath and once in ensuite bath. Both were excellent. The rooms are tiny but clean and comfortable. Breakfast is in the lovely garden at the back with no city sounds at all. It is far from the airport and hard to find with GPS. If I were to go to Panama City for medical care I would stay here. The care we received here was like being at a friends.

Adequate as a Hostel
We were surprised at the modest accommodations. The gentleman, Daniel, who was managing the hotel on the weekend was extremely helpful, intent on making our stay a good one. The breakfast was nice (better than motels in the states), and they even packed us a sandwich and gave us coffee early in the morning, because we had to leave before breakfast time. We thought it a little pricy for the level and condition of comfort, but the bed was comfortable and, except for a group of noisy tenants one evening, we slept well. It is and would not be my first choice, but I could recommend it as a relatively inexpensive lodge. Close to restaurants and a shopping mall.

Room was cheery and comfortable. Wi-fi worked well. Shower/restroom was insuite and normal European size. Breakfast was cooked to order eggs, meat, and fruit. Arrangements to and from airport were good. Shopping and a variety of restaurants are within walking distance. All in all a good place to stay.

Staff are very friendly and helpful. There is some one always available to assist. The rooms are bright and cheery, with a fruit theme for each one, i.e apple, grape, cherry, etc. The mattress in my room was memory foam which was good, but a little too soft for my liking. All rooms have bath rooms. Breakfast is from 8 to 10 AM and is cooked to order, with eggs, meat, and fruit. Shopping and restaurants are a 2 block walk away and very plentiful in the amount of choices. All in all, a great place to stay in Panama City.

Definitely NOT a hotel
This place was advertised as a hotel, but is a hostal. The room was 90 degrees and 90% humidity for three hours. We asked for help 3 times before the condenser kicked in. We climbed up on a filthy bed/couch to turn the temp. lower ourselves. The gardens cascading down were a hillside covered with weeds and a few plants, climbing up from a patio in back. Breakfast was nicely prepared and served. Help was given to find our way to the airport.

Feels Like Home
I chose to stay in MD for my vacation in Panama because I wanted to have a feel of how locals live. The location is ideal because it is close to bus/taxi stands, restaurants, a small mall, a casino, and most of all, it is in a very safe environment. Since I stayed in B & B's in most of my travels, I knew what to expect, amenities wise. The place is actually a converted residential. I stayed in a room called "grape" with a private bathroom. The amenities are basic but very comfortable. The room is clean, aircondition unit works well, and although it is right beside the breakfast area, it was quiet. The housekeeper cleans the room and makes the bed every morning. Breakfast was delicious. Jesus prepared (for me) a typical Panama breakfast, which was great. More than the place, my stay was made very memorable by the owners, Jesus and Maria. They were very pleasant, warm, hospitable, helpful, and spoke good English, so there wasn't any problem with communication. They can arrange taxi rides at any time. Jesus brought me to the Panama Canal when I wasn't able to arrange a ride. He also arranged for a taxi to tour me around the city for five hours at a very minimal price, and took me to the airport when I left. He wrote transportation tips and guides when I went on my own to Portobelo and Colon. I felt safe knowing that the owner of the place was concerned about my well being. Although the extra transportation with Jesus were not gratis, it made me feel safe and special
