Great location, by the Gatun lake

Posted Sep 14, 2016
Pros: Location and facilities, awesome.
Cons: Staff need to be trained in courtesy and service, badly. They need to fire the cheff and hire a good one, badly too.
Location: It's kinda isolated, so there's not much to do outside the hotel, unless you get some locals to take you to the lake, fishing or sightseeing.
When we arrived, there was a "private event", with lots of people and noise, they had a live music band, and the event guests were all over the place; hotel guests couldn't enjoy the hotel amenities. It all ended by 6 pm, so we went down to the pool then, but there was no pool service anymore! Staff is not very friendly or nice, they're not rude, but they make you feel like they're doing you a favor, when it's actually the other way around. Food is terrible, we had the buffet lunch for which we paid over $50 but wasn't worth at all. There was a fried fish that was terrible and smelly. Hotel's backyard, the lake shore, it's incredibly beautiful.

Descanso en medio de la naturaleza

Posted May 13, 2016
Pros: Pisicina, habitaciones, lago.

Quiet and secluded

Posted Apr 30, 2016
Pros: The rooms are very comfortable, especially with the views of Gatun lake. The swimming pool is gigantic, the casino and the bar are a welcome plus.
Cons: The restaurant hours could be better, and the food could be more diverse.
Location: Not sure what's there to do nearby, but as far as the location, well, it can't get better than that. The surroundings are so peaceful and serene.
My husband, my two daughters and myself (we live in the United States) were visiting family in Colon but we're staying in Panama City, this particular day we didn't want to rush so decided to stay at The Melia Hotel, we have been there once before minus one daughter. Needless to say, we had a great time there; I remember when growing up in Colon it used to be The School of the Americas, and my sister and I used to go visit our cadet friends. I'm so glad they kept the facility and turned it into this wonderful "retreat".

Only for business stay, not for pleasure

Posted Apr 24, 2016
Pros: Swimming pool
Cons: Everything should be improved to get a 4 -star rating.
Location: If You are a diver, just call Panama divers. They have a small hotel, Octopus Garden, restaurant on site and nice friendly people.
My wife and I purchased all inclusive package in this "resort". If you stayed at Melia, all inclusive hotels before, this one is a way down. Just one thing I liked, it's a swimming pool. Deep, clean and no crowd. There is a sign at the reception desk: ask the towel for a swimming pool at the swim up bar area. We came over there, but the barman send us back to the reception to get a towels. The drinks in a bar(s) are cheap. No cappuccino or pina colada at all. You have to pay for a canned drinks extra. Bottled water is not included in all inclusive plan. They sell it at the reception for $3.80 per 1/2 liter bottle!!! In the local store you can buy it for $0.60, but you have to take a taxi to get a local store. There is no entertainment in a hotel. There lobby area is hot and humid, because A/C was never ON. The food was terrible. Every day almost the same menu. Just couple of people were speaking English. I had to use "Google Translate" to communicate with them. If you want to make a local call, you have to make a deposit at the front desk $.99 per minute. Room temperature was around 75 degrees. The A/C unit was set for lowest temperature possible, but never get lower than 75. There is no fan in the room. No balcony. Cable TV in the room has just 2 channels of 60 in English. Every day we had a hot water issue. In the mornings and afternoons is was no hot water. There is no plug in a bathroom sink. The faucet was dripping constantly..../
