I was charged for taxes when I arrived and I had already paid for it. When I was leaving they wanted me to pay for the breakfast again . Also breakfast is not buffet . It’s bread, coffee and orange juice

Pictures on Expedia are a bit misleading. It’s not a bad place, but it’s definitely showing a lot more wear and tear than the pictures show. The entrance to the hotel is not attractive at all. There’s trash on the sidewalk outside the doors, and the area is a bit run down. That said, it doesn’t appear to be an unsafe area. We were there 5 days and never ran into issues with anyone. Also on the entrance, you find out the hard way the welcome desk is on the second floor, and there’s no elevator! Making things worse is the stairway to the front desk is very narrow and fairly steep. Lugging a heavy suitcase up the stairs is a real challenge. My wife wouldn’t have been able to do it since she’d just had knee surgery. The front desk staff are very friendly and very helpful. They assisted the person who presented the morning continental-style breakfast, who was incredibly friendly and helpful! She was flawless every morning. She alone made up for the shortcomings I described. All in all it wasn’t bad, but I wouldn’t stay there again. The entrance and stairs alone are a deal breaker.

Excellent location near RER B and métro. Very friendly staff, arranged for our early check in at noon instead of 2pm. Rooms are small and storage limited, so not ideal when you have a lot of luggage. There is a flight of stairs to reach reception, then an elevator to the other floors.

Close ground transportation. Literally you open the hotel door and you have access to the train station. Restaurants and stores to buy anything you need are around the hotel. Super friendly people in the hotel. Rooms are small. They don't have air conditioning but they have a fun which we found enough to get the air in the room cooler. Great location!

Great place, great people, great location.
Great place to stay. Staff were excellent very friendly and helpful with extras like printing out train tickets for us. Rooms are small but very clean and well laid out. You need to climb 1 narrow flight of stairs to get to reception. Then a small elevator can be used from there. Excellent location, catacombs across the street, restaurants of all sorts within a block. Subway and buses within 2 minutes. Looking forward to staying here again.

I stayed at Hotel du Lion in Paris for almost a week and loved every minute of it. The facilities are excellent, very clean and modern, supplying for all your needs. The staff will go the extra mile to help in any extra way they can. I found a laundry room to iron my clothes, there was hot water for coffee and tea around the clock, and a great view from my window in the intersection of Denfert-Rochereau. The room was surprisingly quiet at night, and very well heated. I loved that I could open my windows for fresh air. But the main highlight was the staff. They were absolutely amazing, from the owner, Mr. Nicolas, who is the sweetest man with the most contagious smile, to the director at reception, also Nicolas, who is this dashing, handsome Johnny Depp-look alike (a better, younger version), and who is also the friendliest and most helpful with advice or touristic tips, to the ladies who staff the reception desk at night, also amazing. The man who runs this business knows that the human touch is the thing that will make a good hotel experience amazing, so thank you so much to all the people at Hotel du Lion who added so much to my Paris experience by just being there with their generous smiles and good hearts. And I'm sure it's not just a European thing. There is something special about Hotel du Lion. Go there and see for yourself, and say hi to my friends there for me. :)

As always the staff were friendly, helpful and efficient. The room was clean and comfortable. The location is good and has a metro just outside and RER around the corner. The new Liberation museum across the road was informative.

I stayed at the Hotel du Lion for six nights in September 2019 and found it to be of incomparable convenience and value. I booked the hotel online some months in advance, and in so doing, was able to secure a rate of less than $100 per night - unheard of in Paris. The room would be considered spartan by American standards, but had all of the conveniences I needed. Besides, I didn’t come to Paris to sit in a hotel room. The location was terrific with the Metro and RER being steps from the hotel entrance. The view I had looked onto an intersection and that alone provided hours of entertainment. And yet, despite being a second floor room on a busy street, it was surprisingly quiet. The management even contacted me prior to my stay to advise me of pre-booking popular attractions and to ask if there was anything I needed to make my stay more enjoyable. I had only two minor complaints. One was that there was no bracket for holding the water wand for the shower and the other was that the WiFi had occasional problems. The breakfast could have also included some meat slices. Otherwise, a perfect place to stay for a budget minded traveler. Highly recommended!

Great little find.
Great location steps from metro #4 and #6 lines as well as the RER to to the airports. Couldn’t beat the location for quick access into the heart of town. Great neighborhood with restaurants, Catacombs and WWII museum across the street. Very happy with our stay.

Excellent location but hard to see entrance until you are directly in front of the door. Steep staircase from entrance to reception on first floor and then elevator available to rooms. Clean but basic room. WIFI is slow. Breakfast is basic and overpriced; no fresh fruit provided.

Good short stay
The accommodation was good for the price and was sufficient for the length of stay, 2 nights. The staff were very friendly and helpful. The breakfast was simple but enough to prepare you for the day. If I had to stay any longer the shower would have become an issue. Luckily I am not a large person otherwise I would have not got into it

Very close to the train station (RER B, 4, 6) and many restaurants and shops on Rue Daguerre. Very convenient to get around in Paris. The staff is friendly and available even late in the evening. Both Nicolas were especially helpful. The room is clean, quiet but small. However I didn’t plan to to spend much time in the room anyway. I would definitely stay here again next time I’m in Paris.

The location is great, just steps from the metro and rer subway. The staff particularly Nicholas, were friendly and very helpful. Overall a great place to stay at a very reasonable price. We’ll be back!

Although this was an older hotel, it has been renovated and refurbished to modern standards. The only downside to this is that the rooms and bathrooms are very small. Otherwise, the management and staff have done their utmost to provide a clean and welcoming environment. The breakfast at the hotel was also very good.

The hotel is at a convenient location. Both RER and subway are right next to the hotel. And the room rate is okay. There are supermarkets and a few restaurants nearby. Not a fancy area but it's safe, relatively quiet and clean. There is no elevator to the reception floor but that doesn't really bother us because we don't have a lot of luggage. At the time we visited Paris, it was kind of cold at night and we needed some hot water for drinking. There was no electric kettle in the room but there is a hot water machine at the reception level and the staff was willing to help us get some. The room is not modern but clean and simple. The window can be opened to get some fresh air. The beds are comfortable. When you go out, you have to leave the key to the reception. We are totally fine with that since they have long hour reception and we don't need to worry about losing the key somewhere. The only thing that does bother me is, there is no exhaust fan in the restroom and shower room of our room (not sure if it's the same for other rooms). Overall, we have a pleasant stay and enjoyed our time in Paris.

A surprisingly good hotel
My usual hotel near Denfert-Rochereau was booked up, so I went with Hotel du Lion, and it turned out to be a good move. Comfortable room with nice air circulation, great location (for RER B to CDG esp) with 2 Metro lines just 5 steps to the hotel entrance. Only thing -- you do need to climb a narrow set of stairs to get to the hotel lobby (there's an internal lift/elevator once you get there), so be warned if you have luggage or have mobility concerns. Other thing -- the cleaning is a bit shoddy, as I found a used towel with wine stains and hair on it... But overall a good place for that part of Paris, so I'd recommend it.
