The bedroom is very small and the bathroom was in bad condition. Broken tiles on the tub and floor. The door didn't lock properly. Elevator was tiny can barely fit 2 suitcases with 2 people. Only good thing was location and bed area.

The room was dirty and very dusty. Dirt on the wall, very uncomfortable bed and when I arrived there were hairs on the bed. Disgusting.

Staff upgraded me to different hotel

I am a business traveler who needs to visit this area frequently. This was my 5th visit to this hotel. When I arrived, the staff apologized and said there was some plumbing problems with my room and said they already booked a nicer room in a different hotel, and offered to pay for a taxi to take me there, and prepaid for breakfast at the other hotel. I ended up staying at the Eurostars Panorama hotel, near Gare du Nord, in a large suite, much larger than the standard rooms at Hotel Exe Paris Centre. The taxi ride was nice too. The breakfast was typical for Paris hotel breakfast. I didn't pay anything extra. Kudos to the hotel staff for taking care of the problem. The only minor discomfort I experienced was having to take a local bus from Gare du Nord back to near this hotel where I needed to go for business meetings, in the next morning, which was not a big problem for me. At some point, the hotel staff may start to recognize me. I don't think they recognize me yet though, mostly since I occasionally stay in other hotels in the area. I will try to remain anonymous as long as possible.

Clean rooms, friendly reception, excellent value.

This was my fourth stay at this hotel. I am a regular business traveler, no kids, no vacation, just need a clean room in convenient location. For that, this hotel is excellent and is a great value compared to nearby hotels. It is one block away from the large Gare Saint Lazare, and within walking distance to various cafes and shops. However, it is not the trendiest or nicest place in Paris. All the rooms are clean, some rooms are more spacious than others, but most are standard side for Paris hotels (small for American standards). I would use this only as a place to sleep at night, and not as a place to come back to during the day to rest or to relax. Some rooms face the inside courtyard (not picturesque) so are quieter. The rooms facing the street will be a little bit noisier, but the noise is a problem only if you are very super sensitive to noise. The rooms and bathrooms are all clean and comfortable, though some of the furniture and fixtures and some doors look old. I never felt uncomfortable. The reception staff at night and mornings are consistently friendly and speak perfect English. I have stayed at other hotels in this area because I travel to this area frequently on business, and this hotel truly offers the best value for a clean hotel room in a convenient location with nothing fancy. If you're a tourist looking for a nice or romantic experience, or if you have kids, or you'd like to splurge on a vacation, then you may want to spend more money elsewhere.

Good Hotel

I have stayed at this hotel on two separate stays on business trips. The reception and hotel staff have always been friendly and courteous, defying the French stereotype of rude customer service. The location is very convenient, a block away from the large St Lazare station. It is a few more blocks from the Opera shopping area, and is not right next to them, but they are within easy walking distance. The rooms are regular sizes for Paris hotels, nothing out of the ordinary. They may seem small to American tourists used to American hotels (I am an American myself), but the rooms are ordinary size compared to other Paris hotels I have stayed at. The beds are clean, comfortable. They are not super luxurious, but they're nice enough. The floors are clean, the doors lock very solidly. There are a few open electrical plugs, not many. You may need to bring extensions if you have many electrical items you need to charge. The bathroom is clean. There are minor defects such as minor chips on the sink and such, so the facility is not perfect, but nothing that made me uncomfortable in any way. One of the rooms I stayed at had a moderate smell of disinfectant. If you are sensitive to smells, this may bother you. I did not encounter this in the other room I stayed at. The noise level is the same as any Paris hotel that faces the street. The window mostly blocks street noises, but it does not completely block 100% of noise. I would rate this as "good" and may stay again.
