My elderly mother and father visited Paris with my family and like most people of their generation after seeing a kettle in their room fancied a cup of tea . However their was no tea or coffee nor cups in their room to make this possible . My parents however had brought tea bags being ultra organised so requested two cups from reception . To their horror they were asked for identification in the form of a credit card and asked to leave it with reception for the duration of their stay (three nights). My father even asked if he could just purchase the cups as he was not prepared to leave his card for the entire stay , this was declined . The conversation seemed almost over at that point after the receptionist explained that they had so many cups stolen that they could not just provide my parents with these basic luxuries. My father explained how unfriendly this was and then questioned where was the hospitality in the hotel after this very long winded conversation going backwards and forwards. The receptionist eventually provided them with two cups and asked for these to be returned upon departure which of course they did ! Please be aware that as this seems to be a policy in the hotel I would advise you bring your own cups should you want a drink throughout your stay . The two male receptionist were however outstanding and couldn't have been more accommodating with our requests / questions .

Thank you for sharing your thoughts with us.
We do apologize for that cup story. We had a lot of stolen items lately, so we asked our team to require an ID in exchange for borrowed item but that didn't include the cups, forks, spoons...they thought it did. So it's a big misunderstood, and again we apologize for that. We'll be able to use as many cups as you want next time for sure !
Hoping to have you again soon
