Good location just a shame about the staff!

Posted Dec 12, 2016
Pros: The location
Cons: A bit of staff training on how many rooms the hotel has
On arrival we were told that the hotel was full & we couldn't stay there and would have to go to the one next door for 1 night & then come back to stay at the Mercure on the Saturday. We had booked for 2 nights. We asked if we could move to another Mercure, and we're told yes there was room at another one which was 5 minutes away, the receptionist walked with us to the other hotel, when we started to check in we were told that it would be room only (we had booked breakfast)for 1 night and then we would have to return to the Opera Lafayette for the 2nd night. We agreed to this and the receptionist at the alternative hotel offered to upgrade us to a privalige room because we were members of the Accor Le Club and for the inconvenience we had experienced, before check in was completed there was a phone call from the Opera Lafayette to say we had to go back because they had refused to pay for the breakfast at this hotel, we then returned to the 1st hotel to find that they had in fact got a room for us! The room was on the 6th floor in the roof space, so after staying just one night, we checked out because of the dreadful experience we had with check in & the staff who obviously didn't have a clue of how many rooms they did or didn't have available, and booked into the Holiday Inn at Gare de l'Est, which was very good & one to recommend. Not a great experience for us as it was our 1st booking through Expedia.

Paris is wonderous. Hotel was a grave dirty disappointment. Did not ruin our stay though as the city is magic.

Convenient and comfortable

Posted Oct 24, 2016 on Hotels
A middling hotel that looks a little tired and could do with a lick of paint, room smelt a little musty. Good location for all the usual tourist spots in Paris. Staff were friendly and useful. Not bad for £85 a night however...

Paris

The room was quite small but guess that's what you expect in Paris. Also the bathroom door is basically a shower door so for any new couples or friends staying there that could be interesting!

Smallest room ever, hot and noisey - NO SLEEP!

Posted Feb 10, 2016 on Hotels
Smallest room ever and very noisy outside. Couldn't open window because on first floor and air conditioning not working because they can only have either heating or air conditioning on at any one time. Room very very small and hot. Noisy with dustbin lorry and night revellers. We changed hotel after first night and lost our money it was that horrible.

Great place for a short trip to Paris

Rooms are on the small side but clean and compact. Hotel in a great location and all major attractions a walkable distance away. All staff very friendly and helpful especially reception who dealt with our early arrival very well. Good buffet breakfast too.
