Good despite beach repair work

We booked two nights to get over jet lag from UK, before moving closer to centre, and used Bell Transport coach from BKK.
Arrival and check in were impressive. When we asked to book for breakfast we were advised to take the Club option which includes two hour free drinks and snacks, and limited laundry for only a little more.
Hotel and gardens, pool areas etc are even better than website led us to believe, and the view of the bay from our balcony was superb.
Concern over the location at the far end of bay from Walking St was lessened once we got the hang of local baht bus option. These converted pick-ups swarm along a route around the one way system from the hotel to Walking St and back up the parallel road, any journey costing 10 baht. Just flag one down, hop on, ring bell to stop and pay driver
Clubbers get breakfast ( quite adequate buffet with egg station ) in top floor area with great views. Several guests appeared to maximise use of evening free food and drink to
substitute for going out.
Repair work means beach is currently not accessible from the hotel or for first 200 mtrs of sea front. We also had occasional construction noise at the otherwise lovely rear pool area.
A good choice for our needs, and I would recommend the Club option, with the reservation that I did not try the alternative. We did note though, that the main breakfast area had a bigger selection, and longer hours than Club, ( 10.00 latest) which can feel early with a 7 hour time lag.
