I should have paid more attention to the negative reviews of this property and the defensive rebuttals of the host. I agree with the other negative lengthy detailed reviews and disagree with the very brief one line positive comments. Here is an abbreviated list of the issues I experienced
1) After reading remarks that heater was not working iI asked the host through multiple emails and the VRBO chat if it had been repaired. My questions went unanswered.
2)Digital key access - "problem on our end please try again later" no response to those inquiries of access til hours B4.
3)property within 17 mile drive boundary and host did not put my name on guest list. Payment to get past gate
4) despite arriving on time at 8pm the house was dark, no lights. many obstacles and tripping points
5) Personal effects in all rooms and closets, heavy smell of incense from the shrine in the guest area, dirty dust encrusted fake flowers, cobwebs in the corners, dirty kitchen utensils that require washing before using.
6) no heat, TV did not work, BBQ is unusable, one roll of toilet paper between 2 bathrooms. Host shares the kitchen and can enter guest area through multiple doors. Feels like the movie Parasite with someone else just on the other side of the door
7) advertised sleeps 8 and we showed up with 4 and my original reservation was 3. My 4th decided to stay with another friend in town for the same event when his allergies flared from air in guest area. Extra charge for plus one
