Great location everything close by

Posted Apr 17, 2017
Pros: The pool was very good
Cons: The changing rooms are very run down and in desperate need of upgrading
Location: Lovely Chinese reataurant just minutes away, handy shop ideal for travellers coming by bus or train as very close to both station s
The staff were really good and accomodating. The rooms are a bit dated and the bathroom plumbing was very slow, but it was clean and comfortable. I would prefer a cooked breakfast as part of the rate but there was an ok selection for continental choice. Ideal central location and parking.

Clean hotel, friendly staff, close to city centre

Posted Mar 28, 2017
Last minute booking, stayed as we were attending a concert at the Concert Hall. Within easy walking distance. Clean hotel and polite staff, breakfast excellent variety. Gym equipment quite crammed together - nice swimming pool. Sauna and steam room looked a bit old, but did the job. Generally good experience, only downside was that it felt like it needed an overhaul, decoration, furnishings and carpets 1980s - people would pay more after a refurb.

Ok hotel in central location

This hotel suited us ideally for an overnight stop . Decor etc fairly tired and in a bit of a time warp. Staff helpful and friendly. Good value for money

Pros: Friendly staff pool, used this the two mornings of our stay.
Cons: Needs updating
Location: Station shops everything you need in a short walking distance.
Clean comfy beds.Room was to hot and could not turn the radiator down had to open window so traffic noice .Which surprisingly didn't keep us awake.Over all a pleasant stay.

Good hotel in a quieter part of town

Posted Nov 14, 2016 on Hotels
The Queens Hotel is an older building but is fairly well looked after. The bedroom was comfortable and clean but a little dated. Bathroom had a shower over the bath was reasonably clean but again a little dated. Staff were attentive and pleasant. We had a swim in the leisure pool, used the jacuzzi and steam room all welcome after a busy day shopping. Breakfast was excellent , staff were very efficient clearing plates away quickly and serving the food quickly. For the price we paid it was good value for money.

Very tired and shabby hotel

Posted Sep 19, 2016
Pros: Breakfast
Cons: Hotel in desperate need of upgrading and a good clean.
Location: Location was okay 5 min walk to town centre
No receptionist to check us in, hotel foyer very poor and shabby, room very old fashioned and basic, didn't sleep well due to noisy wedding guests doors banging and very creeky floorboards. Breakfast was lovely and very good service but overall we would never book this hotel again it was overpriced at £135 for a night. Not a great experience.
