One star quality, noisy, tiny Spartan rooms.
One star quality, tiny spartan rooms, very noisy. Location may be good, but all hotels in Assisi hill have that. Too noisy!!!! Get a room not on main street or bring earplugs. Breakfast could have better fruits/fresh Juice. Don't remove carpet in shower or you'll uncover 3rd Century filth. Nice staff though!

Great value for explorers
Easy to get to from the bus stop, the staff was very friendly and the bed was comfortable. The shower needs to be fixed but other than that, it was a great value. I think they may have upgraded me because they didn't have many reservations. I slept in a full size bed instead of a twin even though I booked the smallest room.

Loved the Location! Loved the View!
Thoroughly enjoyed my visit to Assisi and my stay at Hotel Roma too. The hotel is conveniently located opposite St Chiara Basilica and the room has a fabulous view of the valley. From here, it was easy to walk to the major sites in Assisi, namely San Damiano, St Chiara Basilica and St Francis Basilica for us. The room was comfortable enough and there was lots of eating places around, including the hotel's own restaurant. My only wish is that the internet connection speed and reach could be improved. Notwithstanding that, we would definitely stay here again!

Ideal Hotel for seeing sites of Assisi
We are two pensioners who were visiting Italy and this Hotel was ideally situated for site seeing. Friendly helpful staff.

The hotel is clean, comfortable bed and very good location. There are three options: a simple Italian style breakfast (€4/person), a standard buffet (€8/person) and you can buy different pastries from the restaurant (pay per item). The options are very confused and you should be careful. The breakfast wasn't very good. Check-out time is too early 10am!

Great hotel. Very affordable.
The staff were very friendly & helpful. This location was great for seeing many sites. It is a hilly town but if you take your time it is walkable. Aforadable accommodations in a quaint intriguing town.

Great location
Church bell will wake you up at 7 am. Walking distance for the major sights in Assisi. The hotel was close to the bus stop to visit the basilica in Santa Maria degil Angeli.

It is very well located, the staff was really friendly and helpful. My only but is the size of my room. In the pictures look like a 5 x 5 meter but it is like a 1.5 x2.5 metter, just take that into account. Also, there is a cheap breakfast buffet that you should take.

Perfect location
Hotel Roma is a three star gem. It is located directly to the side of The Basilica of Santa Chiara, and the view from the piazza to the valley below is awesome !!! The hotel is also just a stone's throw away from the Assisi Commune--the center of town. The room I occupied faced the Basilica, and the valley below...the room was spacious enough for one and spotless...the man at reception was cordial, as well as the other personnel, who all speak English. Since the hotel is near the center of town, it is a downhill walk to The Basilica of St. Francis, which is easy to do...going uphill to return to the hotel is a fantastic way to walk off the wonderful pasta that is served in Assisi called "Strangozzi"...look for a restaurant that serves this with the local "tartuffo"...those wonderful mushrooms indigenous to Umbria...a real culinary treat that should NOT be missed !!! The food in Assisi, like in most of Italy, is reason enough to return to this enchanting medieval wonderland of a town.

Great location and service
We found the Hotel Roma a great fit. It is in the heart of the walking district (near the church of Santa Clara) but also five minutes walk from the bus stop served by the buses running to the train station. The room was very good although with a typically small shower. The staff all spoke good English and were professional and helpful. My husband cannot eat wheat (glutin). They had glutin-free foods at their breakfast, a pleasant surprise, and recommended restaurants to try for other meals. The breakfast ( for a reasonable cost) was very good, with all the typical items but also you could boil eggs and squeeze orange juice.

The bathroom is tiny and the shower is not separated from the other part of the bathroom. When showering, the whole floor is under water. The view to back was bad.

Very nice experience. Clean room with modern bathroom, great location next to St. Chiara cathedral. A bit loud however during the night since room was facing the street. Great breakfast, hotel personnel nice enough, if a bit stuffy. Would recommend this hotel.

NO AIR-CONDITIONING!! CLIMATE CONTROL DOES NOT MEAN A/C. This stay was during a heatwave and the room was extremely hot. Uncomfortable to sleep at night kind of hot. However, service was very good and the 5 euro breakfast was very convenient. They even had gluten-free options. We were also charged in advance for the room, even though hotels.com said it wouldn't be. There were no hidden charges. Wifi was free and okay.

On open Piazza Santa Chiara near central square toward upper end of town; near post office and laundry service, with several good restaurants close by. Staff were very pleasant and helpful. Easy-to-use public computer available. Smallish room but perfectly agreeable. Good quality-price ratio. Recommended.

It's right next to Santa Chiara and its piazza, which means an awesome view. The hotel was very clean spacious, and the staff was friendly and helpful. It could get quite noisy if there are people right under your window, though.

Hotel was centrally located in Assisi. Staff was very helpful in providing directions to the parking garage which was a short walk away. Continental breakfast was worth the price. Staff was very helpful in watching luggage the next morning while we were visiting Assisi. Price was exceptional.

Hotel Roma is centrally located right across from Santa Chiara. The staff was very helpful and attentive. The room was quiet and clean and adequate in size. The breakfast for 3 euros was amazing-fresh oranges to squeeze and fresh eggs to boil. The room was very reasonably priced.

Unique perspective on Santa Chiara
We booked to stay for one night and are prolonging our stay by five more nights! The hotel is directly opposite Santa Chiara and from our room we see, through the buttress, a wonderful extensive view of the plain below Assisi. The hotel is absolutely charming and the staff are welcoming, professional and most helpful. Our room is ideal for our needs. There is a generous bed, two chairs, a desk, two windows and a silent fridge. The bathroom is small but practical and has a window which opens. We are out all day and, although there are noises from the street and the taxi rank directly in front, we are not unduly disturbed at night. It is fascinating to see groups of pilgrims arrive at the Church. this morning we attended Lauds before Mass at 07.15hrs. The breakfast features an good range of food, from freshly squeezed orange juice, yoghurt, cereals, breads, eggs, ham, salami to croissants and pastries, with a choice of hot beverage. This hotel is in an ideal location for visiting all the principal sights of Assisi and we recommend it highly.

Great Place to Stay
We enjoyed our stay here. The location was great - right across the street from the Sta. Chaira church, and all sites in Assisi are within walking distance. While one can walk (with luggage) to the hotel from the last bus stop (Piazza Matteotti), it is much easier to get off at the *preceding* stop (Largo Properzio) and walk through the city gate directly to the hotel. The room and bathroom were large and clean. There was WiFi and a TV, and the breakfast buffet was great. The staff were friendly and helpful.

This was the lowest price of any hotel we stayed in in Italy and it would have been a good value at twice the price. Modern room, friendly service, comfortable, delicious free breakfast, good water pressure, good location. I could go on and on. Wish all the other hotels I stayed at were half as nice. If you go to Assis, and do go to Assisi, stay here.

Central location and great staff :)
A central location, friendly and helpful staff and reasonable rates :) It is also walking distance to the bus stop which takes you to the train station so that helped us avoid a 20 Euro taxi fare.

The hotel was close to everything you want to see in Assisi, staff were courteous and friendly, room was clean and beddings were tidied everyday, lastly breakfast was eat all you can with tarts(I call them tarts as I don't know what they're called).
