You Get What You Pay For

This place is the definition of "you get what you pay for". I paid $89/night on Expedia on got exactly that kind of quality. I'm rating it 3 stars not because it's a good motel, but because it's appropriately priced.
Our room had a single window air conditioner that never got the room down to a lower temperature than bearable. This typically isn't a huge issue in this part of the country, but it was warm this week that we visited (upper 80s) so it would have been nice to cool down.
The refrigerator and microwave in the room were clean and worked, which was nice to have. The beds were pretty comfortable and overall the room was clean.
The staff was very friendly and I would definitely rate them 4/5 stars. I didn't have too many interactions but the check-in was smooth. A family member had a few more requests which were handled promptly.
The free breakfast was rather lacking in some of the food groups - unless you put the various bread options and doughnuts into separate groups... there was no yogurt or fruit of any sort in sight. But again, here I am complaining about *free* breakfast at an $89 motel. This is what I mean by you get what you pay for. We stopped at Meijer up the road and picked up some of that aforementioned hippie food and were quite happy.
Overall, a perfectly serviceable motel. We spent very little time there - as little as possible - and got out to see the area. If you need a barebones, clean room with a friendly staff then this is fine. If
