Petoskey visit

Posted Aug 13, 2016
We booked through Expedia, driving up to hotel we knew it was a mistake. Building was old and not taken care of. Steps going into motel were very narrow and many. I wouldnt want to try them in the winter. My biggest issue was with the desk personnel. The lady that registered us had a tank top on that was supposed to be white, but was so dirty it was disgusting. I was surprised to see that our room was clean and very comfortable. I took my 13 yrs old granddaughter to the pool, and when leaving there was a man and woman in the hallway by the door, we had to go past them. The man was very intoxicated and they were arguing. This hotel in Petoskey was not a good experience at all.

You Get What You Pay For

Posted Aug 13, 2016
Pros: The location is good, it was cheap and clean, and the staff was friendly.
Cons: Better air conditioning, a touch of freshness in the breakfast offering (fruit!?)
Location: Vacationland, this motel is right next to downtown Petoskey and a short drive to Harbor Springs and Charlevoix. There are plenty of amenities nearby.
This place is the definition of "you get what you pay for". I paid $89/night on Expedia on got exactly that kind of quality. I'm rating it 3 stars not because it's a good motel, but because it's appropriately priced. Our room had a single window air conditioner that never got the room down to a lower temperature than bearable. This typically isn't a huge issue in this part of the country, but it was warm this week that we visited (upper 80s) so it would have been nice to cool down. The refrigerator and microwave in the room were clean and worked, which was nice to have. The beds were pretty comfortable and overall the room was clean. The staff was very friendly and I would definitely rate them 4/5 stars. I didn't have too many interactions but the check-in was smooth. A family member had a few more requests which were handled promptly. The free breakfast was rather lacking in some of the food groups - unless you put the various bread options and doughnuts into separate groups... there was no yogurt or fruit of any sort in sight. But again, here I am complaining about *free* breakfast at an $89 motel. This is what I mean by you get what you pay for. We stopped at Meijer up the road and picked up some of that aforementioned hippie food and were quite happy. Overall, a perfectly serviceable motel. We spent very little time there - as little as possible - and got out to see the area. If you need a barebones, clean room with a friendly staff then this is fine. If

Needs an update badly

Posted Aug 8, 2016
Found a dead bug on the sheets in the morning. Outside at entry to building - old chicken in container and cigarette butts on ground.

Cons: For the price of the rooms I expected the overall hotel to be of a higher quality. There was peeling paint and cracked cement walks. Breakfast lame.
In general, it was an okay place. The room was clean.
