Charlevoix House

Booked this online for a wedding ... pictures on internet make the property More appealing than in actual view, very average in presence. Before I say why I gave it 2 stars, there were very good things. Property was neat, clean and the staff wonderful. The room, Golf Room, had nice appeal, decor, clean , comfy bed / pillows and bathroom extra clean !! But ... the property is on main drag through town, US 31, you hear all the road noise. Also there is another room above It that had hardwood floors, and being an older home not much soundproofing / insulation to dampen the noise. The people above were up and around til 11pm, heard every bathroom visit, I could her every step, they were wearing heals, boots,or hard sole shoes the entire time I was in the room. Them at 5 am Non-stop movement until 8:30 am on a Sunday morning, absolute no sleep !! Turned lights on in am, Fluorescent drop ceiling fixtures ??? ... WOW !! Good Morning !! One last thing. The bathroom floor was elevated about 3-4” above the living area floor at the entry and tripped on it in the middle of the night walking in ... not used to stepping up into a bathroom. I think the owners need to address the makeshift repairs and definitely put carpeting with padding on the top floor room. Repairs like, repairing cracks under paint, painted over paneling wall I’m my room and a cheesy drop crumb with fluorescent lights ... not worth the $$$ I paid, I will say the staff was great !!
