Unique location, great food, special experience.

Pros: Location, natural beauty, serenity, special history of this unique place at the end of the road in a national park.
Cons: Replace the stairs in the cabin and add some more lamps in the living room and utensils/cleaning sponges in the kitchen.
Location: Not sure about this question (my Spanish is poor). What to do in the area? Visit a waterfall, visit a rock-climbing area in the next valley (Cochamo).
We stayed in a cabin on the lake, which was surprisingly cheaper than a standard double room in the main building. It is in a truly spectacular location, & highly recommended for that alone. The cabin had a nice fireplace, big windows & comfortable bed. The food in the restaurant was also good (optional), albeit expensive by local standards. Much better food than local standards though! Staff were lovely. On the negative side, the stairs within the cabin are cracked & downright dangerous; a bad accident waiting to happen so be careful, especially if descending in socks. Also, the kitchen was not very nice & lacked some utensils and washing up items. If you don't plan on paying for the expensive 3-course restaurant meals, make sure you buy groceries in Puerto Varas. Finally, poor lighting in main room so we had to move a lamp from a bedroom.
