The owners were lovely! They were friendly, warm, kind, attentive, and so interesting. Although the property was beautiful and cozy and picturesque, the owners were the best part. Additionally, the room was clean, had everything we needed, comfy and roomy! The shower was beautiful and great water pressure. Plus, breakfast was scrumptious! If I am in the area again, I would definitely go back there.

This place is a gem! It’s an absolutely beautiful property, both inside and out. The hosts are lovely, warm people, the breakfast is fabulous and basically made to order and there is a wonderful, friendly vibe among the guests. One of the best places I’ve ever stayed. I’ve returned once and hope to again. Also, a short drive to shops and restaurants in one direction and a beautiful park with trails along a river in the other. I highly, highly recommend this place.

My husband and I came to this lovely B&B for one night for our 20th wedding anniversary. Wow!! What a beautiful place! Well kept with gardens and pool outside. Inside clean and charmingly unique. The couple who owns it are extremely hospitable, friendly, and kind! Our bed was extremely comfortable and breakfast---We felt like we were kings and queens! Couldn't recommend this place more!! :)

We had a very enjoyable stay at Alpenhof B&B. The host was informative and provided great instructions on accessing the property, walking the gardens and the history. He’s very laid back and wants his guests to have a relaxing stay and we did despite some bad weather making travel to and from our events a bit scary. The umbrellas available to borrow were really helpful! The art and flowers throughout the property make this a very unique property. The pool was lovely! Our room was a bit small but very comfortable and very clean. The shower pressure is very strong and probably should adjusted a bit as it can make manipulating the shower curtain to prevent spray outside of it pretty tricky. Breakfast was very nice, cooked to order from a menu with nice variety. I personally am an early riser and would love to be able to get some coffee before 7am but other than that, I have no other suggestions. Alpenhof is a lovely place for a relaxing weekend in that area of PA. We certainly would return to it if back in the area.

I loved the food. Owner's sister in law makes a fantastic french toast, and omelette. Bacon is heaven. Super friendly hosts, great beds, terrific showers with high pressure and HOT water. Water and candy in the entryway - perfect. The B&B is also super close to restaurants, shops, museums and a big park. Neighborhood is beautiful and easy to walk around.

We'll Be Back
I loved the atmosphere. The bed was so comfortable and the fireplace was wonderful in the main room. The breakfast was delicious and the wood carved dining room table and stone wear place settings added a special touch. The owners, Roland and Ang, were caring hosts. My family visited us there and also fell in love with it. Highly recommended.

This property is so unique and beautiful. The artwork and the furniture are so intriguing. The common areas are private and quaint. The innkeeper and owner, Rowland, is genuinely welcoming. He and his staff cook made to ordered breakfast each morning, including fruit and pastries. The dining table and chairs remind you of King Arther and the serving items are one of a kinds made by a local artist. My husband and I travel each fall for Naval Academy football and we always try to find a B&B. By far this is one of our favorites. Media downtown at this time of year looks like a Hallmark Christmas movie. You will not be disappointed staying here. Ask the owner about the history of this historic hay barn turned into a home. 300 years…..oh if these walls could talk! Thank you Rowland for an amazing Army/Navy and birthday weekend!

Great place to stay in the Philly area!
Amazing! The owners are great people and their home is just breathtakingly beautiful! We are so grateful that they share it with us when we stay there. This was my second time staying there and my husband's first time. We both loved it. It was like a mini vacation.

a hidden gem in Pennsylvania
I typically do not stay at B&Bs. But I was pleasantly surprised during this trip. Anh and Roland our hosts were very friendly and welcoming. The breakfast was excellent and beyond what I would have gotten at my favorite restaurant. The room was clean and comfortable and the rest of the house was filled with beautiful and interesting decor to admire. I am planning on returning again with my husband.

I can't say enough great things about my stay at Alpenhof, including Roland the wonderful and exuberant caretaker. My experience was nothing less than phenomenal- the breakfast delicious, my room warm and relaxing, the staff friendly and helpful, the amazingly beautiful grounds (don't forget your swimsuit for the garden pool), the absolutely gorgeous house filled with aesthetic pieces of fine art and international curios, and the furniture and woodwork created by Roland himself. It is rare for me to even leave reviews in the first place, and I only leave one when my experience is absolutely stellar, like this visit to Alpenhof. :- ) If you need to stay anywhere in this general vicinity, I can guarantee you will not find a more suitable place with character and beauty. Period!

This place surpassed all expectation!! The house is amazing - beautifully decorated, both unique and atmospheric — and the grounds are stunning. There is a good sized swimming pool surrounded by flowers. The hosts were exceedingly friendly and welcoming and the breakfast was off the charts - freshly baked pastries, fruit and pretty much whatever else you wanted they were happy to make it. The town of Media is small but charming and there is a big park about a mile down the road with shaded walking/running paths next to a river. This place is a gem. Highly, highly recommended.

Refreshing and welcoming stay.
Beautiful property with excellent gardens and pool. Thirty minutes from Philly. Three friendly doggos on premises. Very comfortable bed, and delicious breakfast with fresh baked pastries. Would recommend to anyone 10/10.

If you are looking for a hilton or courtyard experience this is not for you. Instead this is a large family home with 7 guest bedrooms all unique and personally attended by the husband and wife team and their 3 dogs. It’s relaxing comfortable and like staying with family or friends It is not commercial in any way and nothing is too much trouble. It’s a vacation in itself. A leisurely breakfast which is included is a lovely way to start the day on the deck weather permitting

I quote my teenagers, "It was amazing!" The gardens and grounds were beautiful and relaxing. We sat by the pool and chatted while listening to birds sing and watching chipmunks and squirrels scurry around. Breakfast was lovely and very filling so that we did not eat lunch later. We stayed in the stand-along cottage which had a great kitchen space where we made tea and played cards. we had an excellent view of the garden. Also enjoyed the resident dogs.

Unique, interesting home beautifully maintained with lovely gardens surrounding a relatively large pool. Delicious breakfast served on locally sourced ceramics. Each room is different and there is not a single corner that has not been lovingly and tastefully decorated. The owners are super friendly and attend to their guests with great care. We were on a road trip and this was a true treat!

Wonderful landscaping, unique design, full of art, large tapestries, antiques, stenciled wall finishes, original mosaic ceramic tile designs, all in a restored 300 year old restored stone barn all in prefect condition. The owner operator gave us the history of the building and it’s rebuilding. The breakfast was the best we ever had and all made on site. Our best ever experience in any hotel or B & B.

Just outside Media, PA (and near a state park), Alpenhof B&B is perfect for visits to the Philadelphia area. The breakfast is delightful, and the hosts very friendly and accommodating. Highly recommend!

One of the most wonderful stays I've had anywhere. The location was charming, and the room was very comfortable and clean, and the morning breakfast was absolutely delicious! The owners were lovely and I would recommend a stay here to anyone, and will!
