Try next door

Posted Aug 21, 2015
Pros: it was standing
Cons: pick a spot --- everything is in need
Had reservation for late arrival. My daughter and son-in-law traveled with us and called hotel direct several times while enroute to Phil. They were told no rooms --- all sold out. When I was in check-in line a lady walked in behind me and asked clerk if they had any availability --- he responded yes what type of room did you want. Huh ??? what happened to sold out like 90 minutes ago ???? Hotel and room were quite under par ....... plus they offered nothing of a breakfast :( My advice, if you are in the area use the Best Western like my daughter and son-in-law did ---- it is quite pleasant !!

Employees never heard of "Good Morning".

Posted Jul 31, 2015
Employees are the key to good business. Not in this hotel. The basic communication skills and manners are missing supplemented by rude yelling at scared clients. At the airport pickup the shuttle bus driver not happy with us not understanding his hotel identification as loudly barked Chester! (not everybody knows there are two Days Inn hotels in PHI) kept increasing the volume and frequency of his shouting until a bystander clarified the situation. We survived the 5 am shuttle bus departure the next morning in quite peaceful environment, however, no greeting was provided, not mentioning a smile from absolutely anybody during the entire stay. Hospitality industry is a very competitive business. Maybe that is why this hotel's staff is so serious about it. I invite them all to visit Canada and see how business can be done to make customers happy with nothing more, but a smile and the old-fashioned Good Morning!

Excellent for the $ value

Posted Jul 26, 2015
Pros: Dollar value and accessability to public transportation.
Cons: met expectations
Location: Nothing to do in the area.
I enjoyed the Hotel. It sits next to Widener University and to the Hospital. It has drawbacks. The area is very depressed. It sits between Old Chester & New Chester. The hotel was comfortable. It was within a 20 minute walk of the Chester TC Train Station which provided transportation in downtwon Philly. For the price and the savings I enjoyed my stay. I would doi it again when I go visit the Philly area. Not directions to the hotel could have been better. However, I found it with very little difficulty.

Horrible.

Posted Jul 15, 2015
Pros: Nothing
Cons: Where to begin.......
Location: Get mugged, shot or worse.
This hotel is in a very crime heavy area. The hotel itself is outdated and uncomfortable. Nothing about this hotel is inviting or indicative of anywhere you would want to spend your nights unless you had no other option. the room was about 85 degrees or so when I arrived and would not cool down below about 80. The bed was uncomfortable and the bed linens were scary at best. I've seen better towel at an old YMCA and the whole place smelled of smoke. I booked directly through Expedia and prepaid for 5 nights to get the best rate. It was so bad I checked out after only one night. Yup, I basically threw money out the window to get as far away from this place as possible.

Old hotel

Posted Jul 3, 2015
There was a strong odor in the whole hotel. But the water pressure was good and the TV was above average for most hotels. This hotel is in a lower end of the city and could use some updating.

Worked

Posted Jun 29, 2015
The towel holder was broken. Not enough towels. Asked for more they never came. Didn't have enough help at the front. Advertised included breakfast it did not. To check in early they charge $30 extra. What is the point in that if the room is ready who cares. One of the most ANNOYING things was that they began vacuuming around 7am in the morning right outside my room. We had been up all day and the night on a flight and just wanted sleep. Why would you start vacuuming so early?

It was a ok hotel for the price

Posted Jun 22, 2015
Came into town to visit family. The hotel was ok for the price I didn't experience a problem. Toilet paper was a lil cheap it broke up when you use it to wipe other than that everything was ok.

Mold, Old, Dirty, Smelly, Far from the Airport

Posted Jun 3, 2015
Pros: Nothing.
Location: There is nothing near by. You want to stay inside the hotel if you are here. It is not safe outside.
The hotel claims to be "airport". No, it is far from the airport and away from the City even than the airport. So, in coming from and going back to the airport, I wasted more than two hours. When giving me ride back to the airport for me to go into the city, the driver pointed to me where the shuttle bus is, instead of dropping me off there. Well, it is another half an hour struggle for me to bring the luggage to the shuttle place. This hotel is like the worst third world country hotel. You just cannot believe that we have this type of place in the United States. it cannot be cleaned because things are broken, worn down, and worn out. It is worse than some homeless shelter and transit short term hotels. It is old with mold smell. The TV remote does not work. I have to go to the TV to change station. If you turn the fan on to reduce the moldy smell, you cannot go to sleep because the loud noise it makes. There is no central air system in the rooms. No wonder it requires you to pre-pay once you make the reservation on line.
