Great hotel in the center of town

Posted Sep 28, 2016
My friend and I really enjoyed our trip to Philly and I plan to return in the near future. I definitely want to stay again at the Doubletree by Hilton, Center City. This hotel was a wonderful experience - the staff are very friendly and helpful and we appreciated the amenities such as on-site restaurant that stayed open late, the swimming pool and sauna, hotel shop, breakfast buffet on the mezzanine level. I think the per person charge for the buffet could have been a little cheaper (lots of places outside hotel for inexpensive breakfast) but the choices were really varied and good. Our room was one of the biggest and most comfortable and functional I have been in. It took me a few minutes to find the blowdryer - it was in a bag hanging on the back of the bathroom door! We wanted another comforter and the housekeeper promptly brought it, along with extra shampoo. The only negative comment I have is that there was this weird diagonal crack all along the ceiling over the bed but no plaster fell on us. There is a subway station right on the corner by hotel and the Hop On Hop Off bus is across the street. The hotel is in a very nice, walkable area, near Rittenhouse Square, lovely shops, all kinds of eating places. I recommend this hotel and I plan to return very soon!!

A perfect hotel for visiting the different sights.

Pros: Everything. The staff, the room, the breakfast and the central position of this hotel.
Cons: We would find it hard to find anything.
Location: The visitors centre at Independence Centre is brilliant. There is a Phlash bus that is free for seniors. The museums and art galleries are excellent.
We arrived late. We had organised and paid $80 for a shared shuttle through Expedia when we arrived after a 26 hour journey from our home. This transport did not turn up and after three attempts at contacting the company Philadelphia sightseeing tours which boasted 24 hour service we left a message. No contact was made so a decision was made to find a taxi and pay again. The hotel staff were very sympathetic and we were advised that the concierge would help in the morning. We had a lovely room and were given breakfast vouchers for our entire stay. The next morning we were indeed helped by the concierge called Osman. What a gem. He contacted the company and passed the phone to us for the information. The staff member could not understand the problem and apologised and would be writing to Expedia to give us the money back. They also offered a taxi to the train station as an apology. Is and was not convinced and asked every day if we had heard anything. We had not. On the morning of our departure he kept an eye on the time. The taxi did not arrive at 11.30 as arranged so Osmand phoned again. The taxi would arrive he was told. It arrived 10 minutes late. We would not have caught our train if Osmand had not intervened. Osmand went over and above the call of duty and the hotel should be proud to employ someone of his ability. We will recommend this hotel to everyone who plans a trip to Philadelphia.

Nice hotel in the center of the coty

The room was awesome and so was the service! My only complaint was that they did not have free coffee anywhere. I like to get out of bed and get a cup of coffee, without having to go to the restaurant o buy it

Pros: Staff, Cleanliness, Parking, Location
Cons: The elevators and some of the hallways were very hot.
Location: All of 13th street (restaurants, bars) - Rittenhouse is close, Dilworth Park
I had a wonderful experience at the Doubletree Hotel in Philly! The inital check in process was very smooth, the staff was extremely friendly, and they moved the line along nicely. When we got to our room, we noticed that it was extremely hot and tried to turn on the air, which would not turn on. It was completely dead. We had called downstairs and they sent somoene up within 5-7 minutes of our call. The gentleman was very nice, but after going to the unit on the wall and then the radiator, we realized this was not going to be a quick fix and had reservations within the the next 10 minutes. We grabbed our items and went down to the hotel desk to see if there was another room available that we could stay in. The gentleman at the front desk was very nice, and tried to help find us another alternative and had ended up giving us an upgrade in the process. The rooms were wonderful, clean, comfortable and the hotel itself is in a GREAT location in Philly. I would defintely come back!

Everything was great. Only advise is there will be street noise. Didn't bother us though. Room was clean. Bed was comfy. Only suggestion would be a new shower head.

Nice hotel

Nice hotel, in the center of everything you may want to do. Walking distance to many places such as the Independance Hall, Magic Garden and more. Complimentary cookie when you check in which was AMAZING, I want more personally delivered to my home. Definitely worth paying for executive suite for the nice view and the lounge and breakfast that comes with it.
