City Ave hotel close to Philadelphia

Posted Feb 13, 2017
The hotel room was clean and comfortable. The breakfast was very nice, dinner social was available as well most nights. The hotel staff were all very nice and polite making you feel at home and welcome. One staff member stood out amongst the rest, every guest who entered the door was addressed with "Welcome Home" most by name. I have been coming to this hotel for over ten years Tony always has made me feel welcome and at home. Love this hotel.

Incredible staff make for an incredible stay

Posted Feb 11, 2017
Stayed at many hotels, never had such a kind, caring, attentive staff experience. Front desk staff address you by name, ask about your day. Attendants at the dinner social hour ask if they can get you anything or refill your wine glass. Housekeeping service excellent with good attention to detail. Four-star hotel service and attentiveness in an extended stay hotel just blew my mind. Hotel cleanliness was excellent. Room with kitchenette excellent. Connects to Hilton next door through indoor hallway with its restaurant, pool, fitness center. Hot breakfast was great. Evening social hour food OK but with plenty of varietals of table wine. I highly recommend this hotel.

Never again

Posted Jan 23, 2017
After driving three hours to get there, I walked up to the front counter and Shay says drivers license and credit card. I felt as though I was being stopped by the police. I stayed in this hotel for at least 10 years and the hotel staff has always been really really good and courteous. I thought she may have just been having a bad day but the second day when I went to purchase something from the store she was just as curt. I couldn't sleep one night because the room on the 2nd floor was connected to the Hilton so people were passing my door laughing and joking late into the night I didn't even get in until 11 PM. Also people outside we're having really loud conversations at 2 o'clock in the morning. The faucet in the tub was dripping all night long. There were no tissues in the room and housekeeping never saw them. Overall the hotel has gone down in looks and service and I won't be going back.....the continental breakfast was good though.

Excellent staff but the hotel needs some TLC.

Posted Jan 1, 2017
Pros: Most of the staff was very pleasant and attentive. Shot out goes to Miss Toni and George. Good value and convenient and affordable parking.
Cons: The place needs some deep cleaning in the rooms. Public areas are well kept.
Location: Good access to shopping and restaurants. Quick ride on the expressway to downtown and museums.
Have stayed here before but not had problems with roaches in the kitchenette, over flowing coffee pot, crumbs on the floor in the corners and stains on the furniture. The staff was very responsive to fix issues. If you stay over Christmas remember to get extra towels on Christmas Eve. No housekeeping services on Christmas Day. This can be a much better property but the management needs to get on top of general maintenance and cleaning items.

Organization held event at the Hilton

Posted Dec 20, 2016
Pros: Staff is friendly and go out of the way. Rooms are huge!
Cons: Nothing everything was GREAT
Location: Target, Starbucks, Cali pizza kitchen, Landmark restaurant. Close to the Philadelphia Zoo and other Historic Landmarks
Amazing !! The Staff was so friendly and warm ( you need that when your trying to get everything organized). I was extra happy that it connected to the Hilton Hotel ( where the event I was attending was being held). Rooms are clean, huge and comfortable. Location Location !! Close to restaurants, bar and most importantly Target. Tons of parking. Breakfast is also included ( Very good Coffee)

Stayed here for a swim meet. Comfortable room, staff was fantastic (especially Toni at front desk who got us an early check-in). Close to many restaurants, grocery stores, Target.

Parking is awful, terrible wifi

Posted Dec 2, 2016
It was hard to find the parking lot and when we did there was a confusion about paying the valet vs paying at the desk. The parking lot is across the street from the hotel. The wifi kept disconnecting and was essentially unusable.

Unreliable. "Don't book through Expedia" mgr said

Posted Nov 30, 2016
Pros: nothing
Cons: wont return so i can care less
Location: could not enjoy. could not sleep.
We choose to book at a higher rate to be able to cancel because we needed a crb. i included a comment in the reservation, "Crib a must, otherwise let me know so i can cancel". A day before traveling i call the hotel and they assured me i will have a crib so i kept reservation and did not cancel. When arrived, the manager said they were sending one asap to the room. By 8 pm still no crib and they ended up saying they had none. That they only carry 7 in house and share with the Hilton (So about 1000 rooms = 7 cribs) 3 people slept in 1 bed. None of us slept. None of us except my child, really rested. Terrible night. Having known, i would have canceled and choose another property. I paid too much. I asked for compensation and the manager said "Dont book through Expedia, they dont share the obs or comments with us" trying to blame someone else for them not providing it. And when i questioned about the assurance of her associate the day before when i could cancel she said she will "talk to him"...

Homewood should not be so hard to locate!

Posted Nov 20, 2016 on Hotels
the receptionist at the Hilton was not very helpful when I was lost . I had never been to Homewood so the location is not easily noticeable. The receptionist at Homewood was excellent.
