Close to many fun places to eat, drink & shop. The a/c was not working & room never got cooler than 78 degrees- staff said system was "winterized" & no cooler air was available. Also, close to major party scene, so area can get noisy on weekend nights.

Great hotel with a great location.

Posted Nov 10, 2016
The hotel appears to be in a renovated building in downtown Philly. The rooms have soaring, high ceilings and are beautifully furnished with dark wood furniture. There was a beautiful old style writing desk in my room that I wanted to take home! Rooms are otherwise simple, but tastefully decorated. My wife loved the lotions/shampoo etc that I brought back for her. In room keurig was great, there was also a small microwave and fridge. The next day continental breakfast included your choice of pastry, yogurt, fruit and juice and was delivered right to my door. I missed the nightly happy hour, but it looked nice. Overall a great experience and would highly recommend.

very bad a thankfully rare experience

Location: Position great. 1 block from Vetri. Amazing restaurant. Still many cheaper option near by and probably better.
I arrived at 17.00 to check in but the room was not ready. I had an important business meeting at 17.30 so I used their restroom in the lobby to chance... the lady at the reception was totally fulling around with empty talks to guess instead of giving service. Taking care of my luggage ecc I asked her a wake up call at 4.00 pm and a taxi at 4.30 but when I checked again with another guy at the desk later nothing was done. The room was pretty dirty, thankfully I left super early and slept with my cloths. I rarely make reviews but this is worth it if saves other people that want to spend more to get service. Expecially business.

Not worth the price.

Posted Oct 27, 2016
Pros: Nothing special. You will pay a lot of money for a very modest room. They call their rooms deluxe which is not true at all.
Cons: Old building and facilities. I do not recommend it.
Location: Very scary area full of homeless and drunkers.

Not worth the money!!

Posted Oct 16, 2016
Location: The hotel is located in a rough part of the city. We had to be buzzed in and waited outside for quite a while. Parking is awful and expensive.
Our room was clean, however the gap around the door didn't leave you with a secure feeling. The noise from the streets was loud and almost untolerable. The checking process took way to long. We felt like we were signing a mortgage instead of signing for a room. The hotel clerk excused himself in the middle of our check in to use the restroom.

Fixtures need work. Elevator access to any one of the street to any floor is wired. No real lobby. But staff was very nice and accommodating.

Cute hotel, great location!

This hotel is adorable, clean and well maintained. The staff was very sweet. They bring your continental breakfast to your room like room service, which was awesome because it allowed me more time to sleep in. ;) hi It is in a great location; in the midst of a good neighborhood with a lively night life. All the historical landmarks you would want to see while in Philly are in walking distance and any that are a little too far are just a short Uber away. I would definitely stay here again!

Great Location!

Posted Sep 17, 2016
Pros: see above
Cons: It would have been nice to have had a room with a bathtub. If there were a way to muffle the street sounds, your guests could sleep better.
Location: Independence Hall, Liberty Bell, Benjamin Franklin's museum and Post Office, Washington Square, good restaurants nearby, etc.
We enjoyed our stay at the Independent Hotel because it is within walking distance of Independence Square. Our room was a pleasant blue with a high ceiling, comfortable bed, and nice furniture. It had a small refrigerator, microwave and coffeemaker, but only a shower, no bathtub. The air conditioning worked well and adjusted easily. Continental breakfast was delivered to our room at the time we selected. Snacks and wine were available in the lobby from 6 to 9 PM. Original and interesting artwork is displayed in the lobby, the hallways and in the rooms. The place is beautiful! On the last night of our stay, a large, very loud social event took place at the nightclub across the street. There was noise from street traffic every night we were there, but loud sounds only kept us awake that final night. The staff at the Independent are friendly, cheerful, and caring people. We had a wonderful stay.

Pros: The location, staff and a quiet room!
Location: Visitors can walk to the historical sites downtown, restaurants, and Saxby's coffee is just down the street from the hotel (coffee and pastries).
Attentive staff from check-in to check-out. Walking distance close to historical/downtown sites. Highly recommend this hotel!

Great hotel, very good location.

Pros: Trendy, "green" program, lovely spacious rooms and bathrooms. Great breakfast program.
Cons: Can't think of any needed improvements.
Location: Near the subway station where we took it to a Philly's game. Walked to Independence Hall and Liberty Bell, Duck tour. Many bars and restaurants close.
Great experience, would do it all over again! Close to everything: Historic sites, subway, restaurants and bars, shopping. Safe neighborhood.
