Convenient stay in Penn Campus

Posted Aug 26, 2015
Pros: Right in the middle of campus.
Cons: Stairs/carpets in the lobby could be vacuumed more frequently and carpet may need upgrading as it looks somewhat old.
Location: Like a small town with all kinds of amenities, restaurants, bookstores, grocery store, clothing store, etc.
Overall, very convenient for a parent helping her student move-in and out of dorm. Breakfast buffet could be less, need 2 omelet cooks to keep line short. I-pad in room nice but may not work for older parents without enough computer know-how. Staff very courteous. Wood flooring in guest rooms a bit sticky barefoot.

Nice hotel near Drexel and Penn

Posted Aug 26, 2015
Pros: Clean, friendly, comfortable, safe, and functional.
Cons: The check in time is rather late at 3 PM. They do hold your bags, but you do not have a room to freshen up in after travel.
Location: University City has the Penn and Drexel campus with all their associated schools and events. The rest of Philadelphia is across the Schuylkill.
The hotel is in University City just inside the Penn Campus. It is a block away from Drexel. The area is safe, and the hotel is clean and neat. Center city is about a mile or two away, but accessible with car, taxi or subway. The historic waterfront area is a good hike, and most would want to travel by car, taxi or subway. The restaurant is good, and there are a number of other restaurants in the area to provide variety. If your need is University City, it is the go-to hotel. If you need to be in Center City or the historic waterfront, I would pick another of the many fine hotels in Philadelphia that are closer.

The Hilton Experience

Posted Aug 6, 2015
Pros: We had to visit Philadelphia for a hospital appointment. The Inn at Penn was walking distance to the hospital so I didn't have to pay twice to park.
Cons: Since the hospital appointment was early in the morning--we missed the hotel breakfast. It would be wonderful if the restaurant was open until 11:00.
Location: We were able to find snack foods, the bookstore, and shopping all walking distance.
We appreciated the extra touches like four pillows per bed and Italian marble on the bathroom floor. The PURE filter was useful. The valet drivers, bellman, and hotel check-in staff were superior.

Nice hotel for staying near U. of Penn

Posted Jul 29, 2015
Pros: Location, bathroom amenities, ordering and scheduling room service on an iPad rather than calling. Two good sized beds with nice bedding.
Cons: Desk staff need to be trained on being friendly and polite.
Location: Extremely close to U. of Penn, and there's lots of shopping and restaurants nearby -- great location!
This hotel has lovely spacious rooms that are clean and have all the basics you would hope for (coffee maker, hair dryer, television, wi-fi, etc.) I especially liked the use of Peter Roth toiletries -- that was a surprising and upscale touch! I also enjoyed ordering my room service on an iPad and I thought the room service food was very good. The one downside of my stay, though, was that the staff at the desk seemed very unfriendly. They didn't smile, they didn't say "Thank you" or "you're welcome" -- I felt like I was inconveniencing them by checking out, or that I had offended them in some way. It could have just been a bad day for them, but in a truly exceptional hotel, the staff smile even on a bad day. Overall though, the location of this hotel was excellent and the price was fair -- I would definitely recommend it.

Small rooms, AC not effective

Posted Jul 10, 2015
Pros: No comments
Cons: Make sure AC works. Add more items than eggs and cereals in breakfast. Train or employee staff with more customer orientation..
Room was small compared to similar hotels. Not worth for the rate. AC was not effective. In general we were disappointed. They provide iPad in the room, but could not charge. Can use as a paper weight.

Hotel was very comfortable and beautifully furnish

Posted Jul 9, 2015
Pros: The hotel had a lot of shower safety bars and pleasant helpful staff.
Cons: I would have liked lobby to be on ground floor for more convenience but I wouldn't expect this to be changed.
Location: It is close to subway and some restaurants.
My entire stay in Phil. was memorable. It was convenient for subway and a few very good restaurants, i.e. The Corner Bakery and the Landmark. While the hotel was really above my price range, it was very nice to be indulged with fine furnishings, courteous staff, and a touch of elegance. Thank you for adding to my good memories of Phil.
