Clean hotel in a terrible seedy area

I didn't like it at all am disappointed Expedia recommended it.

No show, no refund.

This hotel doesn't refund you or charge you a small cancellation fee if you decide to change your mind if you manage to get a booking elsewhere. I don't agree with that logic. If you're an international looking for a great, welcoming and fun atmosphere, try the Phoenix Hostel and Cultural Centre at half the price!

Very Bad Location for a Hotel

Pros: Nothing!
Cons: Tear it down, a hotel should not be in this area of the city.
Location: Bad, unsafe area.
We arrived at the Econolodge in the evening after dark. The hotel is in a very bad location in the city. The area is not a place that AARP Expedia should be recommending to it's customers online. We were told by the desk clerk that he has no control of what's "out there" meaning the neighborhood, but that the rooms are clean and it is a safe place. There is a notice on the desk saying they do not rent rooms to anyone who lives in a 30 mile radius of the hotel. When we asked about that policy we were told it was to keep out the locals who would be using the hotel for undesirable reasons. When we asked if it was safe for us to stay there we were told of course, there is someone on duty all night and whenever any vagrants try to enter the premises they are quickly sent away. We took our keys and looked at the rooms. The rooms were OK. We went out to dinner and decided we could not return and stay in this hotel. It was that scary of a place! So we lost our money on the hotel, as Expedia could not manage to convince the hotel owner to refund us. We went to a much nicer hotel in a safer area. I caution anyone who is making a reservation through AARP Expedia to be very careful. The Econolodge Phoenix Airport is not a place they should be recommending on their website. It does not appear to be a safe location for travelers and especially those of the AARP age group.

Rude. No welcoming. And dont need to be in buines

Hi . WORLD/ PEOPLE. FIRST OFF IM 9-MOUTHS/ PREGNANT#. MADE A RESERVATIONS TO BOOK AND STAY. AT THE-ENCONO LODGE- GOT OFF WORK AT 5:00 IN THE MORNING. COUGHT A CAB. WALKED IN HANDED MY ID. TO THE LADY BEHIND THE COUNTER. WHO HAD NO PERSONALITY WHATS SO EVER. DID NOT WELCUM HER CUSTOMERS. / NO GREET. LOOKED AT MY ID# GAVE IT BACK AND SAID WE CANT RENT TO YOU. IM LIKE EXCUSE. ME. ME I THE CUSTOMER. HAD TO ASK WHY., O!!!!!! BECAUSE YOU STAY WITH IN A 6-MILE-RADIUS # MY MOUTH DROPED. SHE SAYS WE DONT RENT TO THOSE CUSTOMERS WE HAVE HAD PROBLEMS WITH THEM. SO THER FOR WE DONT RENT TO ANYONE. WITHIN. THE 6-MILE RADIUS. REMIND YOU THIS PLACE IS RIGHT OFF. OF VANBUREN. WHER THE PROSITUITES# ARE AT SELLING THER BODIES. DRUG INFESTED. HOMELESS. ARE. Conveniently located near the airport!

A basic hotel experience designed for people who wish to be near the airport. The free airport shuttle means that there are no extra transport costs. A serve yourself breakfast is included

Hotel liegt außerhalb des Stadtkerns.

Pros: Positiv war, dass es eine Busverbindung in die Stadt gab.
Cons: Der beworbene Shuttle vom Flughafen zum Hotel muss funktionieren. Das Frühstück ist echt sehr dürftig.
Location: Das Hotel befindet sich an einer Hauptstraße. Auf beiden Seiten dieser Straße massenhaft Autowerkstätten, Autohändler und Geschäfte für Autoreifen.
Drei Versuche, den Flughafenshuttle zu bestellen, waren erfolglos. Wir nahmen also ein Taxi vom Flughafen ins Hotel. Unser erster Gang ging zum Getränkeautomaten, da es unheimlich heiß war und wir großen Durst hatten. Leider konnten wir nichts kaufen, denn der Automat war defekt und es gab keine Möglichkeit Wasser, Cola oder sonst etwas zu kaufen. Nach drei Tagen war er immer noch defekt. Beim Frühstück gab es Bagels und Muffins, keine Joghurts, keine Waffeln und keine Cornflakes. Punkt 9.00 Uhr wurde alles weggeräumt und der Getränkeautomat abgeschaltet.

Cheap hotel close to airport

Pros: The room was very comfortable.
Cons: The staff were slow but friendly. The continental breakfast was very simplistic.
Location: Close tot he airport and downtown Phoenix. We went to see a couple of ball games and the park was minutes away.
A cheap place to stay that was surprisingly comfortable and well kept. The buildings didn't look like much, but the rooms were comfortable and the staff were pleasant. The continental breakfast was minimal, but we were happy with our stay. Very close to downtown Phoenix and the airport.

Cheap stay

Hotel itself was OK. Room very clean, nice shower. But...TV reception bad. Pool needed sweeping badly. The closest place to get any food was a Circle K mini mart They state they have a shuttle to airport, and they did, but it was only on the hour and furnished by a parking lot shuttle service. So for us to be at airport by 8 we had to take a 7 AM shuttle and ended up st airport at 7:15 - would have been nice if they had explained that. Location feels like you are in the middle of no where. But for $59/nite one shouldn't complain too much.
