Close to the beach.

Pros: Closeness to the ocean.
Cons: The curb appeal of the hotel - fiinishing the driveway of the hotel.
Location: If you like hiking and snorkelling, then Phu Quoc is for you. There is not much else to do here. The night market is ok if you like fish.
The hotel seemed to be on the brink of bankruptcy. Many areas of the hotel were closed. The staff were ambivalent and several were neglectful in the restaurant (slow service to clean the tables and slow service to bring any food that has run out). Also, we had a room at the very front of the hotel overlooking the road which was noisy. The front driveway of the hotel needs work - the sidewalk is not yet finished.

Pros: Nice beach, enough chairs, good swimming area. Breakfast was plentiful but usually cold.
Cons: Beach bar was not always staffed.
Location: Lots of restaurants, stores, ATMs, motor bike rentals nearby. Street, side walks and sewers were under construction February 2016.
Nice quite time, tanned, swam, rested. Rented a scooter for a day and had a awesome ride north.

Surprisingly excellent resort hotel

Pros: Location, facilities and breakfast
Cons: More English-speaking staff
Location: Pepper farm, pearl farm, and winery. Central fish market is a must. Huge variety of fish and shellfish cooked to order. Prices are high, however.
I read the many negative reviews about the facilities and staff. However, our experience was just the opposite. The location is on the beach and close to the main town on the island. There may be other hotels in that area that are nicer, but for the price ($75 U.S. per night), this was a real bargain. The rooms are in semi-private bungalows (four rooms in each unit). Our party of 6 had 3 rooms. Two of the rooms had been remodeled with marble floors and new drapes. All rooms had king-sized beds and nice bathrooms. The swimming pool is large and well-maintained, though the chlorine levels were a bit high. The buffet breakfast was fantastic, featuring a wide variety of traditional American foods (eggs, bacon, potatoes, sausage) and Vietnamese fare (noodles, fish, salted eggs, etc.). We had one dinner there and it was also excellent, though somewhat overpriced. The staff was very helpful. I went to the beach in the late afternoon and the towels were all gone. I asked a security guard if there were more towels and he immediately called out to someone to bring more towels. The only issue I had with the staff was they wanted to charge us twice for the beverages we used from the room refrigerator. When I showed them the receipt, they quickly apologized. They offer a free shuttle to the airport. We tried to book one of the hotel's taxis for a tour of the island, but they said it was a holiday (3 days before the actual holiday) and the prices would be double.

Beautiful resort; poor staff

Pros: Location and beautiful complex
Cons: Improved staff - customer service, English speaking ability, etc. Some staff were not helpful and just watched others as they tried to assist us
Location: Great location, walking distance to everything
Stayed here one night and enjoyed our room and experience. However off the start, problems with our reservation, the hotel staff couldn't speak very good english and nearly cancelled our one night stay due to the poor experience

Location: The beach was dirty also
We found the hotel overpriced for the accommodation and furnishings. The drain in our bathroom didn't drain properly either, causing the water to flow up the overflow pipe.

I booked the hotel very early to avoid late booking and being left without choice, this being said it was over my budget and honestly not so interesting for me as a solo traveler ! Ok it was nice, comfy but at the end of the day, the seaside was covered by dirty and unwanted stuff (even Tampax) and no staff were collecting it, since it was supposedly a "private" beach ! The beach chalet are nice, but forget long shower !after one shower the boiler needs to re-heat the water because of its very small countenance. I had only breakfast at the hotel, quite good with plenty of choice, sometime I had to wait a bit' to get a cup for my coffee, very bizarre for that kind of hotel ! logistic problem I guess, I had to ask to have my breakfast outside on the terrasse, and most of the time I was carrying out everything alone, staff sometime friendly sometime just ignoring you, barely speaks English also.

Pros: Location, easy access to beach, friendly staff.
Cons: mosquito - the common enemy in tropical countries.
The resort is small enough to be cozy, and large enough to give you the comfort of a resort. The beach is better than average, if taking the nearby Saigon-Phuquoc as the average. The breakfast buffet is excellent for me. They have regular bacon/eggs/sausage... on the western side, but large selection on the fruits, Vietnamese beef noodle soup and Vietnamese rice soup with stew meat/fish/etc. are what I love and take everyday. We got lunch and dinner outside, either in town (Song Xanh, Trung Duong, in and around Duong Dong market) or right across the street and they are good too. Night market is getting expensive and no longer be a good place for us.

Direkt am Strand

Pros: Direkt an Strand und das Personal
Cons: Sanierung
