I was first time in 10/2016. It was excellent. Ms.Jasmine manager was very kind and gave me upgraded room on the beach. Terrace chairs and table were dirty and sticky. I called cleaners. I wanted to make the tea in the evening. That was when I noticed that the tea tray was dirty and loaded with human hair like in the barber shop, plus the tray, tea pot and cups were dirty, too. Photo!!! The next morning I brought the tea tray to receptionist and asked for the manager to show her. She was not there at the moment. When I saw Ms. Jasmine again, I told her that I deserve I night free for the inconvenience that I experienced. During the first night I got some kind of allergy on my back, chest and upper arm. I believed it was bed bugs. Mr. Jasmine offered me some cream. She helped me and put cream on my back and chest. She even bought the new cream the next day because the previous one was expired. I declined. The breakfast was not worth the money($87/day). No many choices for breakfast. The soup was excellent. I asked for boiled eggs and the staff did it. The staff is kind, the resort has a lot of potentials, but a lot of things started to fall apart. The nice small beach was dirty. My check out was fast. Ms. Jasmine offered me 1 night free on my next stay for the inconvenience that I had. I refused and said that I would never come to Tropicana again. The site photos are not the real representative of Tropicana now. Too bad. It was once a beautiful place to stay and enjoy.

Hotel was lovely. Would benefit from felt pads on the furniture as the room above us dragged heavy chairs across the floor during the night and from 6 am onwards. Breakfast catered for Russians and very little available for other cultures. Really nice staff and great room sizes Beach was lovely but too many sun beds crowded into small spaces. Easy walk into town.

pros - good location, not so far from shops - good view from the room (ocean view), near to the beach - good varieties for breakfast - excellent wifi connection cons - in the itinerary mentioned i am entitled for free airport service, when arrive, the receptionist mentioned the hotel FORGOT about the arrangement, and going back still cant arranged as the hotel said need to be arranged 24 hrs earlier (shouldnt they arranged for us?) - room got bug, me and my child got bitten twice in 2 days - fan in the room has a 'strange' sound - staff not really friendly

We really loved the property we had a beach bungalow right on the beach was beautiful. short distance from town. no need to get any closer to the town not much there only night markets and you only need to go there once. heaps of food places around the hotel with great street food and small restaurants. Staff were lovely and helpful. Only complaint was we bought a tour at hotel which they offer. Says you get a private car to for the tour. on Day small taxi picked us up . no room for 5 hours of drive tour and driver did not speak any English which I can understand but a little conversation can help or make the interesting. other taxi drivers we went with spoke English he only said pepper farm honey farm pearl place. We always get caught out with tours in Vietnam .though I had this one in the bag. next time.

The hotel is very clean and the staff is very friendly. The only unfortunate thing is the construction site directly west of the resort that can be very annoying during the morning hours - especially when you are trying to sleep in after a long night.

We had a great time at the Tropicana. The beach was nice. The pool was clean and well kept in a lush garden setting. Breakfast was great with a good selection of Asian and European items. Please try the pho in the morning, changing flavours every day . If I have to criticize the place it would be for the weak air conditioning in the room. The weather was extremely hot and the air conditioning just could not keep up. WiFi was ok. Overall a great experience would recommend the place. There slogan on the T-shirt says “as we care” maybe not the best translation.

Perfect resort!
This was my second stay at Tropicana, and what can I say, another amazing experience. The customer service is second to none, even after check out. Like an idiot I left my passport in my room and didn’t realise until I was at the airport, after a quick phone call they searched the room, found my passport and the manager of the resort personally delivered it to me at the airport in time for me to make my flight. Thank you so much. I’m looking forward to staying again.

nice little hotel with a great pool and good stretch of beach. The rooms were lovely (I think I just had a standard double - which was very nice). There is building work going on next door - but you don't really see it and there wasn't much noise and so don't let that put you off. I got a great price for my room and so was completely happy

Friendliness of staff, very helpful. The workers constantly cleaning the property. The pool was big and deep, the water temperature was nice, not too hot. Unfortunately due to the weather conditions I did not get a chance to go in the ocean. Too dangerous with the waves. Many restaurants nearby. The hotel also has one with good food options.

Nice hotel on the western side of Phu Quoc
Spacious clean rooms with nice views over pool and sea. Comfortable beds and everything you need in the rooms. Nice pool and right on the beach. Breakfast OK but not great - limited choice that did not change much but no problem for a few days stay.

Great great hotel
Tropicana was great!! The photos don’t do it justice! We stayed in a pool view room which was lovely, clean and spacious. Fresh beach towels and bathroom towels every day. Water bottles too. Breakfast was varied and delicious. Beach area was clean with beds and a great place to watch sunset. The pool area is lovely too. We did have to get our own sun bed cushions out as others have mentioned but this isn’t a bid deal. It would be good if there was a bar or waiter by the pool - as we probably would’ve ordered some drinks. But this is only a minor thing!! There’s a pool table and gym equipment upstairs too which was a nice extra touch. We rented a motor bike from the hotel which worked well and was a good price. We loved it here so much we extended our stay!

The room was very clean and no bad smell in the room. bed, bed cover and pillow were also clean. Booked Deluxe Room(Pool View) but upgraded to ungalow(sea view) with free. very close to the beach within 5 meters. Staffs were very kind too. I'd like to stay here whenever I come to Phu Quoc.

Rip off for 3.5star and unhealthy room
We booked this hotel as a non-refundable and needed to change dates, the staff changed it as a favour & thats where it stopped for us. We are a couple and travel quite a bit so we stay at 3 - 5 star hotels. I researched and read reviews of Tropicana and thought it should be ok. We arrived into the beachfront room. It smelt like mould and was dark/damp inside, the view was more the old furniture crap they left outside in the back area as a storage. The wardrobe to hang clothes was damp and floor was sticky. We decided to go for walk along the beach and noticed other places were very run down. When we arrived back to the room, there were flies everywhere and noticed the hidden growing mould in the room behind the bedside table/bed. We complained and the staff switched us to a room in the front of the hotel. The next day my husband and I complained and Mrs Kylie said she had already done us the favour to change dates. She will not sorry or not refunding the difference of a cheaper room or the next night. The issue was a hygienic one and sleeping with mould in unhealthy and unacceptable. She laughed and told us she has another room (apartment on top of the mould room). She said the staff didnt have time to clean the mould. Unfortunately you need to treat mould not clean it. We left anyway and received no refund! This hotel is a rip off for 3.5 Star! Unfortunately most photos are of the other room, except the mould one which is the beachfront room

Right from the time we arrived we were treated extremely well. The rooms and facilities were well maintained and clean. We also tried the onsite restaurant and found the food a little to be desired as in for taste. Kind of bland or not what i was expecting

Really nice hotel, we had a deluxe room on the 4th floor, room was spacious and clean, came with a smart TV and the balcony was large. Good breakfast and it had changes on the menu for the 9days we were there. we didn't have dinner in the hotel as lots of good restaurants nearby. Pool area and private beach were excellent. Staff all very friendly and helpful. Only 2 things I would change would be the chairs on the balcony are really uncomfortable and a do not disturb sign would be good as we had housekeeping knocking to get in some days before 9am

Our stay was enhanced by an upgrade to the penthouse. But the most telling aspect of our experience was the exceptional attentiveness of the staff in the lobby, concierge desk, restaurant, etc. In every instance the staff went above and beyond to be welcoming and helpful. Help was also proffered without expectation of gratuity (one staff member insisted on rejecting a tip, saying it was his pleasure to be of assistance). This hotel tries harder.

Pretty Hotel actually on the Beach
We were taken aback driving down a dirt track to reach this hotel but were pleased on entering the grounds. The reception could be more welcoming but other than that it is very pretty. We took pool rooms which are a bit noisy first thing in the morning! But they were clean and comfortable and very roomy! Sadly, there were rats running backwards and forwards outside them which frightened the hell out of me! The hotel is in the beach which is tidy and has a few deck chairs. No one to man it though. So you have to go and find your own cushions. The beach immediately outside is tidyish but the further you walk it's unkempt. The pool has a few deckchairs but again it appears to be unmanned, so no cushions. Although it is cleaned every morning without fail. The food was ok if a little pricey in comparison to outside. Breakfast is mostly Asian probably due to the fact that it is mostly Asian guests at this resort, but there is an egg station and the coffee is good! DO NOT leave anything in your room that you don't want to loose. We put everything in the safe but my son left his very expensive ink pen in his journal zipped up in his bag and returned to find it gone. When we complained they just kept smiling and laughing and saying they have safe for our expensive things. We were very upset by the response and the loss. It's quite a distance to the town from here but taxis are relatively cheap about 50.000 dong which is just over a pound. It's an ok peaceful place to stay.

Not recommendable. Bugs and worse bed ever.
The environment of the hotel is nice, specially considering the ressort horror along the beach. Tropicana is simple and has lots of green and simple but nice looking bungalows. This is as much positives things as I can tell. I upgraded to a room about $55 because the one they initially gave us was right in front of the kitchen and right next to the cleaning storage room. The platform and the mosquito bed over the bed look like a nice decor, but they are essential. The windows don't close properly and all sort of bugs come in, from mosquitoes to cockroaches and water leakes when it rains. The mattress was the the worse one I have ever slept on (and I was a dorm backpacker for a long time). It had hills and valleys. The hills being wires just covered with a thin layer of fabric. When told the staff about the bed they said they will change it, later I saw they just flipped it over leaving it top the part covered with plastic supposed to go on the bottom. I complained again and they changed the mattress to a new (or newer) one, but still pretty terrible. Bathroom was pretty bad. No separate shower (just a shower head coming out of the wall), peeling ceiling and broken faucet. The staff was not helpful.

The staff try to please the guests but there is a gap bt week them and the western guests, they don't know how, the hotel Should hire westen consulting company to train their employees.

Deuxième réservation dans cet hôtel. Personnel sympathique et accueillant. Plage et piscine propres. Salle de fitness plutôt bien équipée. Bonne localisation.

J’ai passé une semaine très agréable dans cet hôtel. L’équipe est top, accueillante, à l’écoute et vraiment sympathique. Ma chambre est spacieuse avec un balcon vue sur la mer, le rêve! La piscine est propre et la plage entretenue comparée aux autres hôtels. Le petit déjeuner est copieux. De plus, j’ai eu le plaisir de fêter le nouvel an à l’hôtel, ils avaient préparé une soirée vraiment cool, sur la plage. Bref, j’y retournerai sans hésiter!
