Great stay including Jeopardy & retinal burns :-)

Posted Apr 29, 2017 on Hotels
The staff were amazing and super friendly. The room was basic, really basic.... I'm sure it was clean but everything was old including the bedding and the bathroom grout so it felt worse than I'm sure it was. The bed was comfortable but the tv was missing the remote so I only got two channels (not the good ones - 3 and prime :-( ) The wifi didn't work on my iPhone so I watched jeopardy on the oldest tv in the universe and went to bed. There was a light outside my room that was brighter than the sun so I got little sleep. If you are staying one night in order to catch the ferry to Wellington and don't mind basic accommodation it is a great option as it is walking distance to the ferry terminal. If you are expecting the Sheraton you will be disappointed Tip: byo black out blinds

Great stay, before and after Queen Charlotte track

I had a grate stay in the Villa! They have very nice doorms, and after 10 something PM there will be quietness. The inner garden is great with lots of seats, a BBQ and a jacuzzi, which is being used daily(40C), the free wifi can be tricky to stay logged on to. Overall, this place has a lot of charisma, and is a bit older but everything works and it's probably one of the nicer hostels in Picton.

Dirty bedsheets, unclean kitchen, stupidly soft mattress.

Mainly good but roomy musty

Posted Jun 14, 2015 on Wotif
Pros: Position in the town
Cons: room smelt and felt damp and smelt musty.
Location: Irish Pizza bar with live music on a friday night is excellent. Bakery next door is really good but was closed on this visit.
The position of the hostel is excellent, the people are welcoming but the room smelt very musty and damp even after it had warmed up. Good to sit on the verandah outside the room to eat breakfast in the sun.
