Rundown Truck Stop Motel

Posted Oct 10, 2016
Pros: Not much. It did have clean sheets I guess and running water.
Cons: Almost everything.
Location: Pilot Mountain is very nice and there is a lot of hiking in the area.
I had a two night stay. Initially my key card didn't work so I had to go back and have them code it again. The room smelled like a mix of cigarette smoke and mold (it was a "non-smoking room"). There was evidence of water damage to the walls in the area around the sink which was all scratched up. The room seemed clean though and I just needed a place to sleep so I stayed. The next night when I came back to my room around 11:30am I found that my key didn't work. So I went back to the front desk and found out that you have to renew your key every day. When I got into my room I found that my brand new water bottle, which I had left in the small refrigerator was stolen. I told the night manager but instead of giving me a replacement he just told me I would have to report it to the day manager. I was exhausted and when I got into my room I just wanted to go to sleep. But there was an 18 wheeler parked outside of my room with the engine running. After about half an hour I realized that it would likely be running all night. I called the night manager about it but he had no clue as to who owned the truck and was not any help. I then asked to have my room moved and he was able to give me a room with twin beds in it far from the running truck.

Nice for an older hotel

Other than the fact there was urine on the commode lid when I checked into the room, I enjoyed my stay.

Close to our city and the staff was super nice

Although the hotel was having some updates the staff and workers were very kind and friendly. We stayed the weekend after Labor Day and we're a little disappointed that the pool had already closed but the staff made the stay very pleasant and they were super nice to our children We had plenty of towels, bathroom and shower supplies and they did a great job keeping our rooms tidy and helping our little ones with their individual breakfast needs.
