Close to PPG Paints Arena

Posted Apr 1, 2017
Pros: The Cookie upon checking in…..friendly and helpful staff……7eleven connected to it
Location: PPG Paints arena PNC Park Heinz Field River Casino
Great place to stay if you are coming to Downtown. Shuttle service is available from the hotel but lots of attractions are close enough for a walk in beautiful downtown Pittsburgh

Not like the pictures

Posted Mar 30, 2017
Very mediocre room. Small bathroom and room size similar to NYC hotel rooms. Our window looked into the window of the room next door. Hair all over the shower and sink. Wallpaper in main room glued up and down the wall. Dirt marks on the walls. Breakfast was pretty good but had to keep asking a female manager to find our waitress. No restaurants within walking distance. No area to pull up area except for a busy curb, hotel borders busy freeway. Not ideal. I won't return. Quality is not much better than a Motel 6! For $150 a night I was not happy.

Good, renovated hotel close to arena, downtown

Posted Mar 13, 2017
Pros: Location, free wifi, comfortable beds, inexpensive 3rd party parking next door, free computer & printer in lobby (used to print game tickets)
Cons: They appear to have done everything that could be expected to bring this older building up to spec.
Location: ~4-5 minute walk to PPG Arena, and numerous bars/restaurants within 10 minutes. $8-$12 Uber fares to pretty much anything on North or South Shore
Stayed at this hotel for a basketball tournament at the PPG Arena. This hotel is right beside very little, but is very close and easy walk to the arena and to numerous downtown restaurants, bars, etc. It is also right across from a subway station for easy access. (We didn't take the opportunity to try the in-hotel bar/restaurant, but according to others is was pretty good). The beds/rooms were super comfortable. If bathroom space is a priority, however, know that this is an older hotel, and the bathroom was very small and not up to par with newer hotels, comparably priced hotels. Bathroom aside, the hotel appears to have had a modern renovation and is very clean and very well maintained. I liked being able to open the windows, and the wifi was free and reasonably fast. Staff were all professional and courteous. Parking tip: There is a parking deck directly across the street (Centre Ave) that cost us just $10 from Friday night to Sunday afternoon. There's another similarly priced deck a couple blocks away if that one is full.

A great hotel in DT Pittsburgh

Posted Mar 3, 2017
Pros: Staff was excellent.
Cons: Steel fire doors were a little noisy.
Location: Theater district within walking distance, with plenty of restaurants nearby.
Great value in downtown Pittsburgh. Hotel is well kept for an older property. Bed very comfortable. Staff excellent. Restocking of all items daily, no matter if used or not. Would recommend for business or pleasure to all.

Great Hotel, Great location

Posted Feb 28, 2017
Pros: Cleanliness of the rooms, the staff and the location.
Cons: Charged for parking at the hotel. We rented a car and parked there. As guest I was expecting it would be covered or at least discounted.
Location: Right across the street from PPG Arena, close to subway, and about a 3 minute drive from the historic strip district.
The hotel was great all around. The staff was friendly and informative. I used the shuttle service almost daily and the drivers treated us fantastic. They gave us great info about the city and recommended great spots to visit.

Thank you Mr. Tony for the kind and gracious words regarding your recent stay with the DoubleTree By Hilton. We appreciate your feedback about the positive interactions you had with our staff and reliable shuttle service for recommended areas and hotspots. We do apologize about the parking information not being made aware prior to check in and do hope it was not too much of an inconvenience. We look forward to providing you with the Hilton Brand service during a future trip.

Great Location if you are going to PPG Paint Cente

Posted Feb 21, 2017
Pros: The location was convenient.
Cons: The hotel rooms and corridor are due for a renovation.
Our room was directly behind the elevator so at night you could hear the elevator going up and down for a long time. We did not notice until we were in bed - too late to change rooms. Lots of students on s trip at the hotel. Avoid any room ending in 05. The room did not look at all like the picture on Expedia.

Great Hotel, but issues with elevator noise

Posted Feb 18, 2017
Cons: Soundproofing along elevator shafts.
My room (1 Bed Suite) lied directly behind 2 of the 4 elevator shafts. Every time an elevator moved, you'd hear a loud roar in the room. Eventually you get used to it, but it would have been nice to not have to deal with that. Hopefully they'll get the walls/shaft soundproofed in the future. Otherwise, the room was clean, in good shape, and the staff were nice.
