A great way to see Pittsburgh is from the rivers that surround downtown. I choose to go with Venture Outdoors and Kayak Pittsburgh. You pay by the hour and the staff gets you quickly from paperwork into your Kayak in no time. Kayaking under the bridges while enjoying the beauty of Pittsburgh is a great way to enjoy the city. The Gates Hillman Center is a unique building that houses the computer science program and research. I love how outside the box the building is #StunningStructures Bathtub alley after a huge amount of rain I'm falling more in love with Pittsburgh with each return trip. This time included riding the inclines to get amazing views of downtown. The Cathedral of Learning, a Pittsburgh landmark listed in the National Register of Historic Places,is the centerpiece of the University of Pittsburgh's main campus in the Oakland neighborhood of Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, United States. Standing at 535 feet (>163 m),the 42-story Late Gothic Revival Cathedral is the tallest educational building in the Western hemisphere and the second tallest university building (fourth tallest educationally-purposed building) in the world.It is also the second tallest gothic-styled building in the world.The Cathedral of Learning was commissioned in 1921 and ground was broken in 1926. Beautiful park. Saint Paul Cathedral is the motherchurch of the Roman Catholic Diocese of Pittsburgh in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. St. Paul's parish was established in 1834.When the diocese was established in 1843 St. Paul's Church was chosen as the cathedral. As the first time downtown area was claimed by industries the residential areas shifted to other areas of the city. St. Paul's property was sold to the industrialist Henry Clay Frick. The present Gothic Revival structure was designed by Egan and Prindeville of Chicago and completed in 1906. Philadelphia contractor Thomas Reilly built the new cathedral in the Oakland neighborhood.
