A wonderful getaway at a pristine and picturesque location

A very friendly family-owned place that is physically located on waterfront. The family runs a restaurant on the main floor while the rental apartments (one facing the sea and the other a mountain) are on the second floor. Our mountain facing unit had two bedrooms, one bathroom and a balcony overlooking a small town square. There is also a roof terrace for both units to share, which has a 360 degree panorama. Hypothethically, the beach is right there but we could not make use of it because of high waves. That is not a problem because there are plenty of beaches nearby, particularly if you rent a car. Public buses all the way to Chania and all the little towns in-between are also readily available. We would definitely consider coming back. Thank you Xristina, Stavros and Stella for a wonderful holiday filled with sun, the sea and great mood!

A great place to stay and explore from

It was our first time in Crete so we were slightly apprehensive as to what to expect. We arrived very late at night due to the flight and had worried we wouldn't find the apartment or there wouldn't be anyone around to let us in but our fears were allayed after calling Xristina directly on arrival at the airport. She was up and waiting for us with a big smile and it was easy to find the apartment. Photos can often be misleading on websites but the apartment actually exceeded expectation. It was very clean, reasonably modern with sparse decor and well equipped. We had a family of 5 staying. The two bedrooms have 1 double and two single beds between them. One of our sons slept on the sofa bed for two weeks which may not be to everyone's liking but it was fine for him and us. Our use of the apartment was mixed in terms of sometimes self-catering and the kitchen was fine for this with a nice space to sit and eat plus we often sat up on the roof garden which was lovely to do. We also used the apartment very much as a base explore some of the lesser known areas of this western side of Crete. We can thoroughly recommend Rethymno and Chania old towns plus travelling down to Agia Galini and other southern and western coastal areas for a flavour of where the locals go to the beach. Also try and take in at least one of the stunning gorges on your travels! The beach is pebbled until out into the ocean so wear shoes and is generally very clean in the water although one day it seemed to cloud up a bit but then self-cleaned itself! There are plenty of sandy beaches within a 30-60 mins drive though if you want that. There is also a 5 star hotel in the town that didn't seem to mind us occasionally using the amazing glass sided pool if we had a couple of drinks. The restaurant downstairs was fine with modern takes on Greek, Cretan and other foods and of course the seafood is fresh and delicious. There is a strip of restaurants along the front that all offer good food and atmospheres at a reasonable cost. We were worried, being British, that the cost would seem high what with Brexit etc but it was pretty competitive with anywhere else we have stayed in Europe, if not a little cheaper. All in all a brilliant first time in Crete. The local population are very friendly and helpful and Xristina was very generous with us and was always on hand to help if needed but kept a respectful distance otherwise

Extremely happy with our accommodation and stay in Kolymbari

We had a wonderful 10 days staying in Xristina's apartment. Xristina was very welcoming and always available for any questions about the area. We often popped into the restaurant (En Elladi which has excellent food and a lovely atmosphere) where we were assured of a warm welcome by the whole family. The accommodation was clean, spacious and very comfortable. It completely met our needs and was quiet on an evening. Our apartment had the mountain views and was very sunny in the afternoons and evenings. The real bonus was the roof top and sun terrace with the magnificent views of the coastline where we ate our breakfast every morning. The apartment is located immediately on the seafront with easy access to the beach and sea which meant we could take a quick dip in the sea whenever we felt like it. It was an easy walk to the supermarket and to a fantastic bakery which Xristina recommended. The immediate area is very attractive with a small fishing harbour, good restaurants and a short walk to a nearby monastery. Kolymbari was an excellent base as we were able to use the public bus service to go east to Chania, and west to Falasarna. We took a boat trip (Eva Cruises) from the local harbour to Menies Beach for swimming and snorkelling which was great fun. All in all, we had a fantastic holiday made all the better for the Cretan hospitality and good food. Thank you, Kristina for making our holiday so special. We will definitely return soon.

            2 Week Summer Holiday

We have just spent a family 2 week holiday in Crete and stayed at the Xristina apartments. It was perfect! We had the sea view apartment and had a wonderful time. The apartment was clean, well sized and had a wonderful sea view. Xristina and her husband were available if needed and often dropped products from their farm. The location of the apartment was ideal and we will definitely be staying here again. This holiday was our 7th year visiting Crete and we found the location and apartment perfect for what we wanted from the holiday. Excellent holiday, excellent apartment, excellent location.

              Great apartment with amazing views

My husband, our two young sons and I had a great time at Xristina's apartment. We had the one overlooking the sea, and it was clean, modern with a beautiful view. The rooftop terrasse is also amazing: 360 degree view of sea, mountain and villages. When we were 'home' for dinner we always ate up there! Xristina and her husband Stavros were welcoming. We needed to get a few essentials on arrival (dish brush, dish soap, etc.), but there was a store within walking distance where we were able to get everything. We never had any trouble parking right in front. Kolymbari is a cute, quiet village (we especially enjoying walking in the back streets after dinner) and a great base for exploring the Chania area (Chania, Elafonisi beach, mountain villages...). We would definitely stay there again!
