Great for families
Posted Apr 8, 2017
We stayed at Iberostar Paraiso Maya for 7 days in April. The weather was hot & humid, windy, but pleasant.
The resort is enormous and has many things to do. We enjoyed the lazy river, wave pool, multiple pools, ping pong, archery, and playing pool. The grounds are beautiful and immaculately maintained. The staff are very friendly and helpful.
The beach was disappointing. It is beautiful, but so rough and windy is doesn't feel safe to swim there, especially for children. There is also seaweed everywhere.
The food was okay. It was easy to find excellent breakfasts and lunches. We had trouble finding a good dinner spot. The buffets were okay, but felt the same every night. The specialty restaurants we tried were the Steakhouse and Japanese. It was disappointing that appetizers for the steakhouse were at the same buffet restaurant. The Japanese was a fun experience, but the food was very salty and buttery. We didn't care for it.
